what about the billions of dollars every year that the casinos cheat out of the players? oh yeah, having shitty rules is legal.

so maybe marking cards is worth a lifetime ban from their casino, but burglary charges? that's bogus.

 

A part of the "casino cheating" that still smells fishy to me is in Bacc now, they will say that the new decks are "pre-shuffled", and put them right into the shoe. Who says they are pre-shuffled randomly, and not pre-sorted to prevent runs or patterns? Is there a gaming control agent at the card factory watching this process - NOT!!

Also, are those CSM really not sorting out the next 10 cards so that your hand sucks, and the dealer constantly has a good hand??

Of course, this is just in jest and in good humor, but if you want conjecture, this would be conspiracy theory 101, as far as is the casino cheating you, lol

 

I agree about the Cart Shuffling Machines...not knowing what happens inside that little back box really bothers me.

FWIW, I have been playing Mississippi Stud lately...and the only place I can ever win is at Margaritaville...not PH or MGM...oddly enough Margaritaville is the only one of the three that shuffles and deals by hand, the others use the CSMs that spit out your two cards together...probably just a coincidence since it’s a small data set...but just sayin

 

I don't have any real facts about CSMs, but they wouldn't continue to increase use of them if they weren't better for the house in some way. they say they just keep the game going without having to stop for a shuffle, but I'm sure there's more to it than that.

as far as them actually reading cards and sorting them in a preferred manner for the dealer, that would be tough since who knows how many players are at the table? also, I'm pretty sure gaming control certifies those machines.

the pre-shuffled Bacc shoe is much more realistic as far as the card company shuffling them in a certain order. however, I've never actually been to a place that puts the cards straight into the shoe. even when they are pre-shuffled, they still do a simple, single pass shuffle and cut before putting them into the shoe.

 

And there are players at bac that bet against streaks (one of my buddies does this; drives me nuts lol). So sorting the pre-shuffle shoes to prevent long streaks doesn't necessarily benefit the casino.

This is true if you're a basic strategy player.

I don't get the fear of CSMs. I've had some amazing runs with them, and I've had some terrible burnouts with them as well. That's called gambling.

Yes they deal more hands per hour. Who cares? Sit out for a bit if you don't like it.

 

Nothing much happens inside the actual box. The shuffling/randomizing happens when they're fed into it and when they're spit out.

Basically what happens is that spindle in the middle is surrounded by slots, when cards are fed in a RNG determines which slot to put the bottom card in and another binary RNG determines whether to put it into the top or bottom of the stack of cards in that slot. Then when they are fed into the dealing mechanism, an RNG decides which slot to dispense. Other than that there is nothing happening with the cards inside the mechanism.

The machines are tested by the regulators and I'm sure if you look you can find some of that documentation. Here is one from the Washington state regulators just regarding the testing to approve an update to the CSM software. Which is called the one2six shuffler from Shuffle Master.
