I didn't really start playing much of the tables until my last trip. I've always played slots and VP and using your players club card (mlife in this case) with these games is pretty straight forward.. Just slide your card in the slot! ..but how does it work at the tables???

I'm playing at the roulette table. Probably buying in at $50 to $200 (in $1 chips). Sometimes I might lose it all fast, other times I'll cash out up or even. Might be playing at the table for 5 min, maybe a half hour.

So is there a way to hand over my mlife card before I leave the table? Do you just hand it to the dealer and they do the rest? Obviously I would want mlife to know I'm also playing and spending at the tables!

I'm thinking I may have been blowing it on the last trip since I never presented my card at the tables. Or is my play too low that it's not worth it? Is these a minimum amount of play required?

I'd just like to know a little more about the process and procedure of the player and the dealer when it comes to this...

Just hand your card in with your cash when buying into the table. For BJ the pit boss will come by and swipe the card into the computer, and for craps the box man controls the rating. You'll get your card back straightaway.

Not sure how roulette works, but it will be similar.

Often the dealer asks if you have a card even at the lowest minimum tables, so I'd not worry about not playing enough to get rated, just see what occurs.

Just hand the dealer your card with the money or checks you are buying in for. If you buy in for more during the course of the sessions, the floor person will note it.

In theory, yes. In reality, probably not.

Unless you're a High Roller. Or you make sure to tell them you bought in for more.

You won't get rated at table games unless you are playing significant money. Most pit bosses will tell you that. My usual answer is that I just want them to know I'm there.

I thought that was mostly a MGM (and snootier properties than this) issue and that CET will always rate you, but I don't play table games long enough in vegas to justify giving them my card anyway. The rating a min bettor at CET gets is definitely laughable though.

I think that is correct. And sometimes the MGM floor person will take your card and just not tell you that he or she is not rating you

Yes, a lot of the pit personnel will note that you were there in the computer but will not rate you if you are not playing the minimum to get rated.

Some dealers automatically ask for your players card (Boyd properties is one) when you sit down to play, regardless of your buy-in. They even offer to have one made for you if you don't have one. Just provide your Driver's license or I.D.

At craps I had a dealer tell me I needed $100 in play, not counting the odds $ to get rated.
Kinda sucks cause I can get there quite easily if the table going good, but I'm grinding at a min. if it's point 7 out

I know we are definitely rated on craps at the down town Boyd casinos. Frequently, I look at my card (formerly tier) score before going on the table and always note an increase on conclusion. There are no bonus points awarded. I do not know how it it calculated.

About a month ago at MSS, my 200 dollar buy in resulted in about 1500 points. I was on the table just under an hour. Another 200 dollar buy in resulted in about 300 points after being on the table for about 15 minutes.

Wow. I wonder if that was just a pissed off supervisor. They have rated me in the past at a much lower wager than that

That would surprise me depending on where you are at. Most MGM dealers who mentioned it usually say $15. For Craps, odds bets aren't counted but $10 on the line and placing the six or eight for $12 gets the job done.

    I don't know about CET.

I often wonder how the human element factors into this. I had one session at the Cal where I bought in for 300 dollars. The boxman looked tired and non-chalant but he took my card and looked like he fiddled with the computer.

About 3 hrs. into my usual rollercoaster play (of which I bought in for another 300 dollars) the new boxman (he replaced the original boxman who I assumed finished his shift), looked at me and said "sir, I don't believe I have you in my computer."

I gave him the "WTF?" look and mentioned that I've been playing close to 3 hrs. and bought in twice for 300 dollars each. The dealers chimed in and verified my play, whether they knew or not, it's probably from the generous tokes thrown their way, lol!

Anyway, the boxman took my card again and said, "No worries, sir, I gotcha covered".

Makes me wonder how many of my other previous plays went unnoticed. I complained about the previous boxman and praised the other boxman to Cal mgt. thru their e-mail but of course nothing came of it.:thumbsup:

I never see anybody talk about this on here, but I get those postcards in the mail showing a 3 month calender and rates for each day on them from the station casinos, lately mostly from Palace Station, which is truly one of my favorite places to stay for a lot of personal reasons I will not bore you with. Let me qualify this by saying I mean the tower rooms, not the garden rooms. I used to stay at the station casinos a lot then got away from it a bit, last year I visited maybe 3 of them and only bought in a total of 4-5 times at 200 a time, never actually risking close to that. The tables were not real cold and I was playing basically $5 pass, double odds, maybe a couple of place bets, only playing more if the table got a little warm. Besides that I would spend some time at the shoot-to-win craps game, leaving my card in the slot so they could see the time I spent on it, even though I know I was not getting any points for playing it. I am guessing in all the session combined I ended somewhere between even to 200 behind. Since coming home have been getting these offers with all days being totally free. The first 2 postcards there was a limit of 3 consecutive days with a 2 day window before I could use it again. My last one says I can stay 7 consecutive days, which I will be using soon.

Note that Boyd's, specifically Orleans, will rate anything. If you want free nights, play at Orleans. Even at free, you get what you pay for. JMO.

Electro, the buyin amount doesn't mean a lot, it's how your average $ on the table is that will get you the comps. That's why some people will buy in and initially spread lots of $ on the table, hopefully to get a higher rating. If you lower your bets then the pit boss (if he sees that) will lower your rating accordingly. In your case you may not have been playing the minimum's and so not rated.

Downtown is a little better with ratings and minimums than the strip. Unfortunately you need at least $25 on the table at any given time (not including odds bets for craps). I was at MSS a few years ago, asked about my ratings. the female pit boss looked at what I had on the table and checked out my play and laughed (she actually laughed!) and said that I needed $25 on the table at any given time over a 3 HOUR period to get comps. After that I didn't bother giving my card since I never play enough to get any offers. It also allows me to hit and run, play a little and leave if the table is cold. Sometimes on a hot table I will then give them my card and sometimes I will get a comp, I find that fremont is more lenient with comps over MSS and the Cal IMHO.

That could be it. There were many times I would only have a 5 dollar passline, and 6 dollar 6 and 8, not counting odds which don't count.

I would do this if the table is cold and choppy, waiting for a more positive trend. Then I normally would go 27 or 26 across with 5 dollar passline and odds, up to 52 or 54 across with 10 dollar passline and odds.

But I guess it doesn't average out enough to get rated like you mentioned. Actually, it's fine by me, I just wanted them to know I was there and I played a while. When the boxman mentioned he doesn't have me in their computer, I was kinda disappointed since I just wanted to be acknowledged and maybe in the future they might be nice and throw me a free room now and then.
