I have decided to pop over for Halloween from the UK at the last minute so I'm doing it cheap (although that still means a $3,000 touch) so wherever I can save money the better.

I have the option of staying at a friends just opposite Tuscany Villa's but I don't want to impose on him all week, especially as he works weekdays and I have Christmas shopping and stuff to do.

I don't really want to spend much more than $300 on a week for the hotel, would I enjoy staying downtown solo and visiting the strip when I want to?

Anyone got any good hotel discount codes?

I always enjoy staying downtown, solo or not. (About half my trips are solo.)

Most places downtown do not have resort fees, making the rooms cheaper overall. (Exceptions: Plaza $10.00 nightly additional, Golden Nugget $5.00 nightly additional.) *Edit: Golden Gate and also The D now do.*

Nearly *all* places on the Strip charge the resort fee. See http://www.vegas.com/incl/resortfees.html for details.

    My advice:

    1) Do you have any history of play at any hotel-casino you'd like to stay at? If so, dig out your players cards and see if you can book something via their website. You might get free or discounted rooms.

    2) Failing that, try search engines such as kayak.com or booking.com or expedia.com and find your desired hotel for the days you are going. Don't forget to sort by price ascending and weed out the undesirables. Also don't forget to factor in the resort fee.

Yes, you can stay for an entire week well under $300.

    some examples

Some examples, given via booking.com for six (6) nights checkin Monday 10/28, checkout Sunday 11/3 (wasn't sure of your exact dates, so I am estimating).

You need to add sales tax to these, as booking.com does not show the price with tax added. 12% most places, but 13% downtown.

    The Quad - $171.14 + resort fees
    Riviera - $195.50 + resort fees
    Golden Gate - $210.00 + resort fees
    Silver 7s - $246.45 + resort fees

Silver 7 is near your friend (probably even walking distance) and also close to the airport.

    Golden Gate is downtown.

    Plenty of other options, too.

On a side not, I can't imagine paying $3,000 (three grand!) on an airline ticket, but that's just me... based on this, your hotel expenses will be close to free.

Yikes! Me neither! That's for the whole week including everything :)

Only time I fly business is when work pay and the only time I notice the difference is on a night flight. I just cannot sleep in coach.

    Thanks for the replies.

Have you took a look at VRBO and similar rental sites? You might be able to get a studio suite at MGM Signature for ~$60 a night.
