    Hi all,

I am planning a bachelor party for my buddy in Vegas. I'm not quite sure how many will be going, but I'm guessing there will be about 6 of us. We are going over SuperBowl weekend, so I'm thinking airfare and hotel might get a little pricey so I'd like to start booking things early. I have a couple questions for anyone who has planned a gathering of any type in Vegas.

    1. When booking air travel, would you say it's best to just have everyone be on their own? I think it'd be fun for all of us to be on the same flight out there, but I'm thinking it might be a mess trying to plan something like that.

    2. Any suggestions for things to do during the day while we are out there? I'm thinking golf might be possible, but I know it sometimes pretty cold that time of year.

    3. Any other tips for bachelor parties?

    Thanks,
    Ryan

Depends on how many people are going. It is a bit more fun for everyone to be on the same flight. nothing like starting the fun at the airport, buying a round of drinks for the group on the plane, or embarrassing the groom by making him wear something off the wall to bring attention to himself on the plane.

but, yes, make everyone pay for their own flight... OR... have everyone give one person $500 for a ticket and they will get the difference back after the designated person buys all the tickets at once. That is, unless some of them have to fly in a day later, then they are on their own.
If the weather is pleasant, I'd suggest the pool/a cabana. But at that time of year... brrrrr.
There are gun ranges to go shoot guns, daytime bars like Carnaval Court, poker rooms...
Try to get everyone to stay at the same hotel and see if everyone can get on the same floor. Even better, have a big room/suite for the bachelor where everyone can pre-game. And don't forget to pick up some booze and mixers when you all first get there.

Shock has it down pretty well pat. My only caution is regarding the flights. Make sure those going are dependable in getting you or whoever the money for the flights upfront. Otherwise you risk the guy that says he's going then backs out after you've got his tix and paid for them yourself.

3 places to stay for a bachelor get together stand out in my mind. Palms, Planet Hollywood and last pick would be Hard Rock.

Lastly, you're right, Super Bowl weekend will be pricey and packed. All the more reason to get room ressies and flights early. Like NOW!

Thanks, all! I appreciate the tips.

I have booked 2 rooms at the Mirage and have requested they be adjoining. We'll see if that comes to fruition.

    Great points about the flights.

Think golf would be do-able during that time of year?

Here's what the weather was in Feb this year. I'll let you decide. Obviously, it would be better playing in the afternoon and bring a jacket.

Mirage is a good choice. Very nice Sportsbook to watch the Super Bowl, but I'd get your gang there real early.

Feb is windy and kinda cold. Pools will not be open and you will be lucky to get a game of golf. Indoor go karts, indoor skydiving and the shooting range are good. Not sure what your budget is but sunbuggy or exotic car racing is a neat experience. Not sure if you guys are partiers, but you should plan your night, not your days.

aside from this year, I went to Vegas for the past 3 years for SB and played golf every trip. it can be cooler, but if you're a golfer, it's nothing obscene. anyone who lives in Vegas has thin blood and will say that 80 is cold, but if you're from other parts of the country, 60-65 is no problem for golf. pants and a jacket and you're fine. in fact I'd much rather have that then 110 in the shade.

as far as the pool, unless it's a heat wave, that unlikely to be a good idea.

For a bachelor party, you definitely want everyone on the same flight! If you don't, you never want to be the last guy to arrive because you'll have to catch up with the rest of the group!

I have a close group of guys that go out there every year and I'll book all the rooms/flights for everyone but I know 100% they'll get me the money prior to the trip. That way we're all on the same flight, staying at the same place, and paying the same amount for the trip.

Yeah, it's key to all stay in the same place. I've generally found hotels are willing to give you rooms near each other, if possible, when you're with a bachelor party. Some good advice in this thread. Also recommend having a bottle or two in your room for you to replenish during day drinking if budgets are a concern.

That is really good advice, concern over budget or not. Perhaps a trip to a liquor store after landing and before checking in would be a good idea?

Yes, we will definitely be heading to Walgreen's at the Venetian to replenish beer and liquor. Budget isn't too much of a concern, but there will be times that we'll hang in the room and have some drinks.

The Mirage has put a note in that I requested adjoining rooms, so hopefully they are able to come through. We moved it to Thurs Feb 6 to Sun Feb 9, so hopefully that will make it easier to get adjoining rooms since it won't be over SuperBowl.
