Do all of the strip pools close mid-October? Hoping for some pool time during the day while we are there in October!

Some stay open year round (with reduced hours), such as the Mirage which has one of the nicest pools on the strip. It was nearly empty in mid November when the temps were a bit chilly (60's and cloudy). Seeing the lifeguards in hoodies was unusual for me as I usually go in deep summer.

The resorts with heated pools are open year round. I went to the Bellagio pool last January

I think the only time most of them close anymore is for the month of December, that's when they do their refinishing and maintenance.

I was at Aria last November and saw a couple brave souls swimming laps in the morning.
New Years eve a couple years ago , same thing.
I never went out to see if it was heated or not.

Thanks for the link ND80, the amount that some are heated to is nothing to talk about though. In the pool season, the temperatures should be this high anyway.

    MGM Grand: 75 to 80F
    Mirage: 78 to 80F
    Paris: in winter to 75F

    Personally I'd prefer 85F+.

This is only sort of true. Most of the larger hotels, especially those with multiple pools, will have at least one pool that's heated and open, but the entire complex won't necessarily be open. I've personally experienced this at MGM Grand and Mirage, for example. Also, the pool bars and cafes may not be fully operational during the winter months.

As far as October goes, my guess is that whether the full complexes will be open will depend on the weather (sort of like ski season). I don't think most of them have a hard closing date; if October is unseasonably warm, then it's more likely they'd be open, whereas if it starts getting cold in late September, they'd probably start closing the pools down earlier.

I was going to post the question as to when the Mirage pool closes for the season, but I found my answer here by reading this thread. Thanks! I see that it's going to be in the lower to mid 90's from 9/30 to at least 10/7 according to the weather app on my phone and was planning a last minute trip hoping to get some pool/sun time in. :)

Most of the casinos with a single pool will close middle of October . There are some that will wait later, but that's typical. The big ones have heated pools, one of my favorites is the upper pool at Flamingo. Some of them are just open a few hours, but it all depends. If your going to make reservations somewhere and that a need, hit them up.

I was out there last november (16-21 i believe) Golden nugget pool was still open. Mgm had one of the pools open. There were only about 15 people outside including the waitress and lifeguard.

As noted, because a pool is claimed to be open does not mean it will be staffed or otherwise fully operational. Call ahead and check the status before you book if it's a deal breaker for you.

I called Ballys yesterday to inquire when they were closing the pool and was transferred all over. I finally requested the pool manager and left a message. We will see if I get a call back. Btw, I was told by 2 people yesterday when the pool opened. Well that is helpful, thank you.

Doesn't answer your question for when the pool closes, but if Bally's pool is closed guests at Bally's can use the pool at Paris, which is open all year.

But, and here's the issue at hand, what does it mean the Paris pool is open year 'round?

The last time I stayed at the Paris it was December and the pool was "open" but there were no staff on duty and no towels were available. And, to add insult to injury, the pool was NOT heated for some reason. Maybe I just caught them at a bad time. Fortunately, the jacuzzi was up and running.

As I said earlier - find out exactly what "open" means when they apply that label to a resort's pool.

I posted the question on Ballys Facebook site asking when the pool will close and they said "Our pool closes at the end of October or early November depending on the weather so you should be just fine! Looking forward to seeing you!"

I know last year Ballys closed the pool area the 3rd week of October.

I've been to a few pools in late November/early December at different properties and I saw towels and jacuzzi running, but haven't seen lifeguards during winter months at any of the pools, or any waitresses/servers - most of these pools only get 5-10 people at a time, most of which are just sitting in the jacuzzi, almost nobody ever just lays down on the chairs to rest and soak up the sun.
