I've been reading through some current and past threads and I've seen people referring to their "hosts" at CET properties. I'm wondering exactly what everyone means by "host". I have a guy who I call every time I want to make a reservation, book an offer, etc. He will make dinner resos for me, book transportatoin, etc. However, I don't have a specific host at Caesars where I usually stay.

By way of background, I'm a Diamond level player (around 40,000 Tier Credits this year so far), and always get all F & B comped at the end of my trip, but I do so by going into the host office. Am I missing something by not having my own "host" on property?

    I think you are covered.

If they are already doing all of that, there is not much else they can/will do.

Hi! So, just curious, you've had luck having hosts comp your F & B with CET? I am about the same level Diamond as you (in fact I just reached 40,000 yesterday!).

Do you have lots of reward credits or none at all? I've read that hosts will say they can't do anything until all your RC's are depleted. I have about $1300 in reward credits (mainly from last year's Great Race) so I'm afraid they'll just say, "use up your RC's first and then we'll talk."

    Thanks.

They will take your RC first (which I think is bologna). So, I usually try to deplete my account before I leave, or just stop by the TR desk before you check out and buy something from the catalog.

On one solo trip last March, I hit a $2000 win within 20 minutes of my arrival. I continued to play on that money the entire time I was there, and racked up a lot of points. At the end of the first day, I went in and talked to a host and they said that based on my play that day, they would have comped me $700 worth of F&B, but that I had RCs they have to use first. Knowing I had over $400 in RCs built up, I kept playing, kept charging things back to my room, and then went to the TR desk and ordered my bose noise cancelling headphones for around $400 worth of RCs. I think I had about $600 total of items that I had charged back to my room (solo trip so only one fancy dinner alone) and they comped it all. The only thing you are repsonsible for is tips, which I always pay in cash.

So, if you want to keep your RCs in case you don't get enough comp, I just suggest going into the hosts office to ask where you are at. That way you'll know if you can afford to spend the RCs elsewhere, in which case you definitely should. Why not let them comp you and get a cool gift for yourself at the same time.

that's another reason why Mlife is much better for bigger players. they let you keep your ECs and comp off everything with primary comps if you have enough. then you can save up your ECs for a special trip or something. the only place they don't do this is the Beau because they're cheap bastards.

Thanks for the information, msujen! I like the idea of visiting a host after the first day of play to see what they say. I may try that. I'm only going this weekend for about 2.5 days, so I'm not too worried about comps this time, but I'll definitely plan on asking when I have a longer stay in January.

Also with $1300 in reward credits, I'd hate to be frivolous using my credits on a "gift" for myself, without a guarantee that my room charges were going to be removed at the end of my stay!

One more Q for msujen, does your guy give you any free play when you call him up? I frequently see reports of people (with fewer tier credits than me) getting offers of say, a free stay at Flamingo plus $300 in free play. I always wonder why I never get offers like that and wonder what I am doing wrong.

I've heard that there may be some forum shops that accept TR RCs? I could be totally wrong about this, but for some reason, I think I've heard or read that somewhere before. Just in case you do gamble your butt off, that way you could buy a really nice gift for yourself. $1300 RCs is no small feat! Have you been saving them for awhile or just good promos?

Oh yeah, great idea about using RC's at the shops, I always forget about that option.

Like I mentioned above, I earned the full $750 from the Great Race last year. The other $550 or so has been accrued by playing in the past year. I frequently play at my local when they have 6x or 7x reward credit promos. I played yesterday and based on the 6x promo I swiped and won, I should be earning another $160 in comp dollars once they add the bonus in.

My husband also has $750 on his card from the Great Race, so when we go in January we are planning on having an awesome trip, full of great meals and lots of spa treatments at Qua!! :licklips:

Sorry to hijack your thread, lol. Hope you get some other feedback here.

My "guy" through VIP services doesn't give me freeplay offers, but I've never actually asked him. Do you book through a VIP host when you go? I have, however, had freeplay offers every time I've been there lately (or gift card). Last October was $200 cash, March was $350 FP, June was $500 FP and September was $750FP or a $750 Macy's Gift Card. I'm shocked you aren't getting similar offers unless you have slow-played your way to 40,000 tier credits?

I was told by my guy that it is all based on ADT...so not to use my card if I wasn't going to have a heck of a gambling day. So as a result, I just used my hubby's card when I got in late Friday and got him some comp room offers in the process.

And even though ADT matters, I have to believe based on my offers that Vegas is not the same as my home casino. My ADT in Vegas is significantly higher than my home casino, and my offers reflect that.

OK, this is all really interesting to me. I *never* get gift card offers like that, or have more than say, $15 or $20 in freeplay in Vegas. At my local (Harrah's Joliet) the most free play I've ever gotten in one week was $75.

I had an issue for this weekend's stay where I already had a room booked at the Rio, then just last week, saw an offer for $20 food credits and $25 in free play. Which isn't much I'll admit, but I want what's coming to me! So I cancelled my existing reservation and booked it under the new offer.

Having said all that, I *just* became Diamond in June of this year, and now I'm up to 40000 pts. So I've definitely been increasing my frequency of visits in the last three months. I have to admit that the majority of my days' gambling is usually getting to the 2500 tier credits and then that 5000 tier credit bonus kicks in, which really helps.

I might be PMing you if you don't mind. I'm fascinated by all of this!

Why not just use your reward credits for free play before going to host.

    CET comps vs. M Life

    I I understand the mechanics, what a GREAT idea!:nworthy:

Charge CET catalogue merchandise against your CET credits and rely on your play for comps in excess of the original offer.

The merchandise option is not available at M Life (unless your play is super Noir level). At M Life I'm forced to take F&B (I'm Noir) and have thousands of EC's in my account (that may be reduced at MGM's discretion, if the Noir ceiling, currently $10,000 is again reduced).

What we've found the host to be good for is upgraded rooms. I can book all sorts of offers that are sent to us online, but having our host do it and requesting a suite, usually gets us the suite. Our TRs end up paying for what we use for food and drinks, but we've had occasions when the credits were used up, the rest was comped off. However, it's never too much. A nice touch from our host is she always sends up a fruit basket to the room. We always book on my husband's card since he is Diamond, but when I was out in March for a convention(which I am only Platinum) she still booked me a nice room and sent a fruit basket. Not much, but it was still a nice touch.

We also had an issue a couple of years ago, we had booked with our host going to LV had to cancel due to various reasons and decided to go to Atlantic City instead for lesser time, our host cancelled our Vegas and booked up comped in Atlantic City with a really nice room with a great ocean view. I tried to book the Atlantic City online and couldn't get the weekend comped, so using the host really helped.
