I have a departure to Vegas at Noon EST tomorrow and I found myself waking up at 2am this morning b/c I couldn't sleep (I wasn't thinking about Vegas, I promise :evillaugh)

I don't have high hopes for sleeping tonight...hopefully several drinks will take care of that for me...the anticipation is so much fun

Airport early, catch a good buzz goin out and its nothing but cruise control from there. Hopefully I can contribute a good TR live or when this thing is done. I've come to enjoy reading other people's TR's and feel I should contribute something noteworthy. Been known to drink a bit and maybe make some questionable decisions...keep your fingers crossed...

    Stay tuned...

Ha! I hope you have a BLAST!!!!

BTW... I tried Ambien several years ago, but my family made me give it up when I was in the kitchen at 2 a.m. making a peanut butter sandwich and talking about penguins!
Yes penguins!!! I was still kind of asleep... don't remember any of it! I've had many a night I don't remember in Vegas, but this was a normal Tuesday or somethin' at home...

Ambien is the devil...No thank you.

...Besides the sleep eating like smarty (dry cereal and mayo btw) the wife caught me on two separate occasions urinating once in our dresser drawer, and once in the closet - laughing hysterically. No memories of any of it, just a stomach ache, a weird hangover feeling, and a bunch of piss soaked clothes..

I'm lucky. I've taken it on/off for years and have not had a negative issue. My family has huge sleep issues, and it does help us nod off. None of my family has had issues with it. I always pack it to Las Vegas.

P.S. I was never actually going to take Ambien, I was just trying to think of a catchy Topic Name to get people to tune in...

    Just a lot of drinking!!!

i've gotta add to the Ambien discussion as well.

some may recall that it played a part in Tiger's debacle. I mean the stuff is great, but that sleep eating is a mo fo. I think i took it for maybe 6 months a couple years ago and my wife still bitches about the crumbs.

i ended up switching to exercise/no caffeine and sleep better than i ever did on Ambien. but if you want to make the most of a frozen pizza, a six pack of zima, and a bubble bath with an over-the-hill wife, Ambien is your ticket!

Try melatonin. It hepls you through the sleep cycles rather than just knocking you out. I use the 3mg potency.

My mother has been taking Ambien for years and has this sleep eating situation also. As odd as this may be, family members have caught her eating all types of things she never would. She is a vegetarian but I have found her in the middle of the night eating a leftover veal chop once, chewing the bone and all.
However, I believe her Ambien food of choice is frozen diet ice creams and yogurts. She takes these snacks to bed and it melts and gets all over. My father told me she is on her 3rd or 4th MacBook in the last two years because they keep getting destroyed from the melted yogurts. Funny pill that Ambien.

    Agree w/Terry,
One of my employees was taking Ambien, & was having disturbing (vivid danger dreams).
Let's not forget the sleep walking w/no memory of the Incident (common side effect).
    No thanks.

Melatonin is ez, lights out, make room dark & enjoy the full nights sleep.

Melatonin just doesn't work with me. I'll nod off fairly well, and have a great sleep at first, but should I wake up before I'm supposed to, there is no going back to sleep.

You guys should try Afghani black tar heroin...Works wonders..

I can work odd hours and will sometimes not have time to sleep. Alcohol doesn't work because after the depressive effects of alcohol wear off the sugar hits me and I wake up with my heart racing. The thing I found that works best is don't drink coffee, or any caffeine, past breakfast and just do your best to relax and get some sleep. If you do basic body relaxing type stuff it helps a lot.

Tiger was sleep cheating? And she didn't forgive him huh? Wow, what a mean lady.

    I'm sorry, that's funny.

Anyhow, I've never taken Ambien but it sounds trippy. I'm chubby enough though, I don't need to be sleep eating. Or sleep cheating for that matter.

My sleep cycles got messed up when I worked straight 12 hour night shifts. Melatonin is a big help. Really good stuff.

But yeah, the best thing to do is to get into a good routine.

Having said that, does anybody sleep well the night before leaving for Vegas? I mean, besides the no biggie, in Vegas whenever they want crowd.

I'm cracking up here - the OP's post was really titled that way just to express that he was too excited about Vegas to sleep. It has evolved to some really hilarious Ambien stories. Keep 'em coming!

Ambien sounds scary. I'll stick to my Nyquil when I need a really good night sleep.

Yeah I have read and heard way too many scary stories about Ambien and I will never take that stuff.

A few years ago I used Tylenol PM and it worked great. It helped me get on a regular schedule again and I was done taking it after a couple weeks.

Make sure it's the "good" stuff. Nyquil on the shelf doesn't work. We have to ask for it as they keep it behind the counter anymore. At least in PA they do. That stuff always knocks me out.
