So I have 11 days of vacation planned the first half of Oct. I don't have a single thing planned, I just took the days off so I don't lose them. My next planned trip to Vegas inst until March '14

I started looking at flights and found a RT flight for $144 (including baggage) on Oct 7-10. This really got my attention, so then I looked at rooms and can get The D for 3 nights for $143 bringing my total to $287. Now I'm really excited!!

This trip would be my first solo trip. I'm really considering DT because out of my 7 trips to Vegas I've spent probably 5 hours total DT. I'd be on a disciplined budget of about $200 a day, which I know I can do because I've had a trip on the strip with the same budget). I also don't want to use any of my offers at MGM/CET cause it could effect my March offers and I don't plan on gambling a whole lot.

My main question is, is there any other hotels DT that I can get cheaper? I did a quick search (and a quick search means 1AM drunk search) and it looks like The D will be the cheapest ($22 a night + 20 resort fee) What'd you'll think?

Love those drunk 1 AM searches! 3 AM here lol, and a quick Expedia look shows El Cortez rooms (Vintage) as low as $29/night with no resort fee, up to $50 a night for the Cabana room.

Do you have any playing history at the downtown places? Call marketing/reservations at Four Queens for their casino rates, and check your rates on B-Connected online to see if you can do better. Check the hotel websites directly also.

I leave in a week, and I'm starting to go stir-crazy. Have fun & good luck!

Yeah, I think you may be able to get a better rate at the Elco, also try the Plaza and as stated the 4Q, if you haven't already.

You're there mid-week. I would stay at a Boyd casino, as you could very easily get 1 or 2 nights comped...and, once in their system, you'll get monthly offers from them - so, you'd be all set for the next impromptu trip!
I think the regular 'Sapphire' rate at the Fremont is like $32 or $36 - but there's no resort fee, so that would be a little better. Just get a player's card as soon as you arrive, before you check in. Show them your card when you check in & you should get the lower rate. (Plus, compared to 'theD', the Fremont elevators are actually fast!).

The Boyd props seem to be among the most popular downtown. Plus, there are other ones scattered throughout the country. Not sure where you live, but maybe you are close to one. If that's the case, you could give them a bit a play and see what kind of offers you can get for Vegas. Check the Boyd Gaming website and see if there's one within driving distance of you.

I just checked the kayak web site. for Oct 7-10 (3 nts) it shows travelocity has the EC vintage rooms at $70 total, including all taxes and fees. (when you search on kayak make sure you check off the box which asks to include all taxes and fees on prices).

The site also shows CC for $75 (on the cc web site), the quad for $109 (on hotels.com), GG for $117 (on kayak.com site and venere.com site), Riviera for $116 on multiple sites, Fremont for $122, MSS for $123, the D for $132. All of these prices (supposedly) all include all taxes and resort fees but you need to go to the travel site to confirm. beware as many of these sites (like hotels.com) require an upfront payment for your stay.

Like you, I also do quick searches to find out hotel rates. I am trying to find prices for my next stay, probably in january with the CES convention. Unfortunately, airline prices are sky high right now for that date, hotels are also pretty expensive as is car rentals. :Þ

As for getting comped, I think it all depends on what you play. even for boyd hotels, table games are harder to get comped playing the minimums (IMHO, even $200 a day on the machines might not qualify you for comps, I say might not because it all depends on how long you play also). I regularly play at least $200 a day at boyd casinos playing craps and I have a hard time even qualifying for a comp meal.

THanks for the replies guys. I'm not a memebr of any players clubs downtown so I cant get any discount for that. I looked directly at the hotels pages, sites like travelocity/kayak, and my cheapest option is to book a package deal with Allegiant. I normally don't do package deals but for a quick trip with this short of notice I think its the best deal.

Looks like I'm gonna stay at the 4 Queens, 3 nights there and RT flight come to $258 which I think is a pretty damn good deal. Just now gotta really decided if I want to take my first solo trip.

$258 IS a great deal! Book it!!!

...and, if you're planning to mostly gamble, then solo trips are great! Just do it.

I did book it! And the best thing is my buddy decided to come with me so that makes it even cheaper. I got my flight plus 3 nights for around $205. This will be a good trip, looking forward to it.

What do I need to know about players clubs downtown, I'm not a member of a single one. From some quicklike research is looks like MSS, Fremont, and The Cal use the same card and everyone else has their own card?? Are there any good signup rewards for these clubs? Was thinking about just going to every casino and signing up to see what they offer.

That's about right, except maybe Plaza/Vegas Club - but who cares beyond the signup bonus.

For Four Queens, go to the east entrance and do the free pull on the Big Bertha VP machine - then get the coupon sheet which has a bunch of offers for new signups on it.

If you're a blackjack player, just sit down at a 2-deck game (at Boyd, 4-Queens, Plaza & El Co) and buy in for $100. (the Boyd 'bconnected' card is good at Fremont, Cal & MSS)
At Golden Gate, 'theD' & Golden Nugget, you should do the same thing, only it will be at a shoe-game or CSM...
The pit or the dealer will ask if you have a card. When they do, tell them, "no, but I'd love to get one.", and hand them your driver's license.
They'll bring a card to you right there at the table and log your play from when you bought in.
You will probably have to bet $25+ at the Nugget for them to ask you for a card. ~shrug~ If you're not betting at that level, just ask them to get you a card, as you hand them your license.
At Binions, their BJ truly sucks, so try this at their 3-card table, craps or roulette.

To get the promo stuff at any of them, you have to go to their 'player's club' desk.
