Hotel/Restaurant recommendations

A friend of mine has a bum foot that limits his walking to roughly 50 yards before serious pain sets in.

He's okay with valeting the car at the Fremont and walking the short distance from the valet to the front desk, then up to his room....to give you some idea of his tolerance for distance.

He asked me about the Silverton. I've never stayed there, so I'm curious how much of a walk would be involved from valet to front desk to the room, as compared to the Fremont situation.

Any ideas?

If you have other suggestions for a hotel that might work, they'd be appreciated, too. Same with a restaurant (steak and beer).

It's a short distance to the front desk to valet at the California, and a short distance to the elevators and a room in the EAST tower. Not sure about the Silverton. He could handle the Golden Gate, too.

 

Have you thought about El Cortez and their restaurant, The Flame? Valet to elevators at Main Street Station are not that far a haul either but your only steak option is 777. Redwood Bar at the California would be worth a look but is too far a walk from Main Street Station.

 

I had a friend request a wheelchair at Aria. Im sure some other places will do that.

 

JMHO, it is quite a distance from valet to the elevators and to your room at the MSS. The valet is on the side facing the plaza (south), while the elevators to your room is all the way on the north side of the building. while not considered a far walk for many of us, for someone with walking problems it actually could be a far walk. too bad, I wonder if you can call the valet to have them pick the car up on the north side of the building, near the front desk and elevators to your room.

As xmarksx said, the EC valet, front and elevators to the tower rooms aren't that far. they also have handicapped rooms in the tower that aren't that far from the elevators and the flame restaurant is nearby in addition to subways. and as others have mentioned the valet at the cal to the front desk to the east tower rooms aren't that far and there are eateries nearby. The fremont is one of the better hotels because there is an elevator that opens up right on the casino floor so your friend should just ask for a room near the elevators (or handicapped room). There is also a lanai express near the elevator (also a dunkin donuts) and tony romas and other eateries nearby also.

The plaza valet is right in front of the hotel, front desk is right there and the elevators to the north tower is nearby also in addition to HHAGG, mcd's and other eateries including oscars, which overlooks the FSE. the lvc is suspect because they (may have) closed off the walkway from the front desk so I am not sure how you navigate around the place. normally the valet is right outside the parking entrance with the front desk right inside but I am not sure how to get to your rooms anymore. doesn't matter as there are no eateries in the lvc anymore.

Looks like there are eateries nearby also.

 

Out of all the places mentioned, I think the Fremont is your best bet for limited walking, unless the Silverton surprises me. Silverton charges a resort fee, and is more expensive, if cost is a factor in your decision. Fremont doesn't charge a resort fee.

 

Yeah, I think you're probably right about the Fremont being the overall best bet. It helps that he already likes the place and is familiar with it. He was just thinking of a change-up, and I was curious whether any of the other properties might be somewhat "Fremont-like" in their layout. Thank you...and thanks to the other posters as well. California is probably the closest to a Fremont feel if you are in the East tower. They are both Boyd poperties, of course.

 

Makiki, thank you for the polite correction regarding MSS. For some reason I forgot about the actual haul from the valet to that side entrance.
