I know some of you have talked about the amazing groupons and bottle deals. However Gallery has officially closed down. Vegas has been officially taken over by EDM.

Gallery was the only total hip hop club. The issue is the hip hop clubs aren't doing well with EDM.

A hip-hop club that failed miserably, how shocking!

I also think people are gettin' tired of the BS that comes along with the hip/hop crowd... not that all the others are angels.

There are way better non-EDM clubs to choose from before going to Gallery. I honestly think the place was decent as far as layout. There was no money put into it to try to get people into the club at all.

DJs, special guests, etc are what attracts people to check out a club. Gallery failed to do that. So did Prive before it. PH does bring in a good amount of people into the casino floor on a typical weekend night. But just nothing to attract them to get into the club. After the club at Rio closed down, the clientele that moved to Gallery, didnt look like the money spending type.

There are nicer HH clubs like 1OAK and Haze, but Gallery is at the bottom of the list... which most likely doesnt bring in the crowd that are willing to spend the money. entrance fee and tables to keep a club going.

When a club has to resort to a Groupon to attract people, that should be the first indicator. Groupon is about saving money and getting a great deal which is what the CET clientele is all about.

Let's be honest, CET does not focus on the sexy, the high rollers or wannna be high rollers, nor the young impressionable mid 20's crowd which want to go to Wet Republic, EBC, Marquee, Light, Hakkasan, etc. to spend crazy amounts of money to hang out at their hotels, pools and clubs. CET is about value and location or better known as best bang for your buck. If you really think about it, outside of Pure they really have no other true night club on its roster that can semi compete when compared to the above.

It doesn't shock me at all that they went under. What will be interesting is what they will do to try to re-energize that location. If the numbers are true that the casino has the clientele on the casino's floor on the weekends and if it matches the EDM clientele, they partner up with a Light Group or such and have them rebuild, brand and market that location to attract the money on a smaller scale. They can always expand if it is successful, going big or going home right now would not be the right play which quite honestly I wouldn't expect them to do.

    Vegas clubs

The biggest thing that is the matter with Vegas clubs now is that these casinos have big hopes for their clubs, but don't want to help in any way. AMG has worked out some deals and do a great job with finding great locations and marketing. Places like Bagatelle, Cathouse, Utopia, Krave , Club Rio,Gallery and others is that the hotel gets to a point where they don't help promote them at all on their websites and seems at a point they actually don't want anything to do with them at all, kind of whats going on with The Act right now. I have been asked and looked at putting a management company together for some venues. When I talk to friends that are clubs mgrs., chefs and other high ranking people they say certain venues are stuck. The amount of money some of these places have into marketing is crazy.

the flip side to this is there is a reason the hotel/casino outsourced their club operations to the club management groups......because they have no interest in running or promoting a club they have an interest in getting a guaranteed revenue stream in the form of rent and a potential bonus in the form of some type of profit sharing

but they are going to take the vast majority of their money in rent and paying to promote the club just eats into any potential additional profit they will get from any type of sharing arrangement

the problem of course is that the casino loses control of a large part of their property and the club has no control over the "cool" factor of the casino/hotel or what the management does to generate that factor......and worse yet those factors often clash

club goers are hard on a property and wear out rooms and drive off "gamblers' and if a hotel allows that property to decline in quality both club goers and gamblers will stop staying there even if the clubs are still "the place to be" and if the casino/hotel tries to exercise control and keep 8 people from cramming into a 2 bed room then the whole property and especially the club suffer and it is down hill way way faster for the club.....and the club gets desperate and then the trash starts showing up and kills the place for good and drags the hotel/casino further down with it

casino/hotel companies would have been a lot better off hiring people that know how to run clubs and then instead of building something that is associated with a specific hotel they just built a club venue in the vicinity of several of their hotels like instead of LINQ being whatever it is trying to be it is a collection of club venues and no specific hotel is tied to it, but CET would be tied to it

then CET can still let 30 people cram into a 2 bed room in the quad and they could maintain some type of standards at IP and when any particular club in the grouping of clubs in LINQ gets stale or tired or filled with trash they can shut it down and rebrand it and it has absolutely no real connection to any real specific hotel and if they decide to ever renovate and fumigate any of their properties like the quad it is not really specifically tied to any specific club venue

when you try and have it all under one room you can't escape the association of one to another

if Wynn and Adelson had a "club area" they built together right in the very close vicinity of their hotels and casinos then Wynn could still have a massive line of drunken sluts and DBs lined up for blocks to get into the club, but they would not be vomiting and brawling in the middle of the casino and Sheldon could still have a lease with an adult sex circus sideshow geek club, but not have that right under the V/P roof and associated with the casino hotel and not bringing in the regulators and running off guest

instead they drug that crap under their roof and now they have to deal with it even if it does make them some money.....the whole mantra is "club kiddies don't gamble" so why have them anywhere under the casino/hotel roof and why tie yourself to 100% of the clientele when a portion of them are going to trash the property/rooms and another portion is going to stay at circus circus or motel 6 anyway because that is all they can afford......the ones that want a first rate property and are willing to stay at one and pay for it and not try and have 10 to a room will still make that reservation.....and the rest you just made money off of at the club like you would have anyway

Someone, I can see your point about DB's but drunken sluts? Let's not be too judgmental on the second group. You say that like it's a bad thing. :wink2:

Actually Tao and Rockhouse are both good places. Casinos typically are only good for one good club.

You guys stereotype the club goers as if theyre all poor kids that dont gamble and cant afford luxury rooms in Vegas. So wrong in the assumptions. LOL.

Look at most of this message board. There's alot of talk about frugal ways of Vegas. Staying in Downtown since its a "better" deal than the strip to finding the cheap eats off strip. I've got to say, the AVERAGE vegas visitor is probably the ones that spend the least in Vegas.

Vegas club goers spend way more money than the average tourist, IMO. The many groups of club goers I know, stay at Cosmo, Aria, Bellagio, Encore, etc. Basically the top hotels on the strip which arent necessarily the budget places to be at. Next, these clubs have $50-100 entrance fee just to get in. You're spending a minimum of $50-100 on alcohol person and thats if you're just hitting up the bar. There's a good number of people in the clubs spending $1000-20K on tables on any given night.

And who's to say the club goers dont gamble. Most of the people I know that party in Vegas squeeze in at least 2 hours a day to play a bit at the casino. And no, theyre not on penny slots at Fremont.

What I'm saying is, club goers are just average people who arent ******bags or sluts. LOL. Theyre just your average professionals and students who like to have a good time. Its not 2000 DB and 2000 sluts in a club all at once. haha. Its just a big group of people that enjoy the music and the atmosphere, no different than the purpose of the people that like to hang out at Margaritaville.

Anyway, Gallery was marketed poorly and there was no draw there. LIMO DRIVER, you know it too, there are so many places to choose from in the Vegas club scene. If you dont have anything to draw people in, what would make people want to go there.

True. I have been offered amazing deals to open a place in the old cathouse and the old krave. The place I would have considered was the old utopia, but now there is a huge gay club going in and that won't last long there. I worked at pure before AMG and it was a disaster. Casinos can't run a club, proven. Management companies like AMG, Light and SBE have tons of money and they can use one club to overflow to another and use hired DJs at one club one night and then the next. Just like Bagatelle they had crappy team. Sad thing is it seems that these casinos are ok with sitting on these clubs and not doing anything with them.

oh man Bagattelle / Nikki Beach seems like the worse. They have redone that place so many times, I would just give up and not even do anything with that at all. Their efforts will just never be enough compared to what the big boys can do.

And SLS, they need to pull a miracle out of that one. I mean Sam Nazarian and SBE have the backing, but still, its the old Sahara. I hope they really redo the place. You just cant put lipstick on a pig and call it a supermodel. Plus its all the way in the boonies by Sahara Blvd. Thats going to be interesting to see what they pull out of that place.

I would say the old Krave spot has a better chance than the old Cathouse. Its in center strip and theres easy access off the street and is next to a few major hotel/casinos. It would have to be a gimmicky club though and not EDM. Maybe an old school hip hop/pop/rock club.

Great post, worldtraveler. Club goers are (mostly) from the younger generation, and I've noticed some posters here enjoy criticizing everything associated with them.
Perhaps instead of criticizing and insulting, those posters should remember that most club goers are just normal people who work and pay taxes like everyone else.

Well put by both of you! The skew of many VMBers means they'd rather discuss the cupcakes at the Planet Hollywood buffet than where a good table is at Hakkasan. They have no problem at all droppin' $5K at a craps table ("that's Vegas baby"), but think it's ridiculous to spend that on bottle service for a great night dancin' with pretty girls and hangin' out with your friends. Sadly, it is what it is... OK for them to disparage and label "***bags and drunkin' sluts" or god forbid puttin' a zip-line in their precious downtown, but let me pull the "old fart" card and I'm politely reminded by mods to calm it down. Certainly, my generalization doesn't apply to all, as I think Someone is relatively young as well.

In my opinion, the diversity of the groups that love visiting Vegas is one of the best parts about it. I'm 55 and rarely go into a club anymore, unless it's for a private event... but I enjoy watching the the excitement on the faces of the clubgoers, as they're all dressed-up, lookin' great headin' in. Yeah, I've seen plenty of them look like hell comin' out as well, but then I've also seen many older "gamblin' couples" arguing like crazy over money lost in the machines and tables. Who's better or worse for the town?

The sad fact is we're just not much of a tolerant society... we like those who're like us and make those who aren't targets of our distain.

im 26 and my friends are about the same. i only go to clubs when we all go to vegas. i didnt go to hakasan yet but the last time we went to a club we went to xs and had a table for my friends birthday, we went there before without a table. i can say that having a table is the only way to go,otherwise you feel like you are waiting in a line at disneyland and then it is not fun. you wait forever to get to the bar for drinks and people are pushing and there is not too much room anywhere to do anything. without a table its not fun. my buddy im going to vegas with in a few weeks said lets go to hakasan but we wont have a table since it is only two of us. but he went once and said he didnt wait too long to get in.

i will say for the crowds it varies but most girls are in there 20s and i would say most guys are in there 20s or 30s. i know people always say every age goes to the vegas clubs but i dont think i ever saw anyone who looked 40s. maybe some 40s man who is a hotshot with a table and girls but not in the general crowd.

i dont think the clubs had any more dbags then normal bars. when people drink and music is loud they can act like dbags but that is the same at xs or at your local bar. also maybe you were a dbag when you were in your 20s but you didn't know it?? one problem with the clubs tho is there are not enough girls and the ones they have dont want to talk to you. everytime i went there were too many guys all squeezed in and trying to talk to the same girls and the girls just stay with there own friends and dont talk to you. where im from the girls dont dress like they do in vegas but they at least talk to you and dont act stuck up.

Let's take a small step back here. I get worried when I see things like "You guys" or "The board...." as we're all individuals. Once you start doing that, you're just generalizing and usually the discussion falls apart from there as "you guys" feel the need to attack "those guys" and poof.. I have to start moderating the threads and "you guys" hate that. :wink2:

Vegas is a big town with lots of room for everyone. You can gamble one line line penny slots, you can play $100 slots. You can collect coupons and hit the buffets for cheap, you can pay $$$ for suites and bottle service and whatever else.

We all have different preferences and budgets. There is room for everyone. All I ask is that you respect each other and not criticize people for not agreeing with you.

    Thanks!
