Last year Bob and I stayed at Bally's for the first time. We noticed they were playing Rat Pack music in the valet area. A lot of places in Vegas do. But, this was different. It was different Rat Packers (and other singers of that era) singing each other's songs. The weather was wonderful and there was always a mild breeze coming through the valet so I really enjoyed being out there. I know I'm cheap but if the lineup at the valet is too long, I've been known to discreetly slide a bigger tip to the valet and suddenly our car comes out next. I never did that at Bally's. I just sat there enjoying the wait.

I asked my Vegas Nerds about it and nobody had any helpful info for me. I guess not everybody noticed. I tried searching on google, eBay, amazon, all my little tricks. Nothing. I kind of gave up.

Then, last week I was feeling pretty low with all the complications and having an additional procedure and being back on heavier meds. I was probably stoned with the pain meds. I called Bally's. I got passed around to a few people and they said they had noticed that music too but didn't know where it came from. Eventually I was told to contact the company that does all the audio/visual for Caesars Entertainment (the parent company that owns Bally's). I spoke to the rep for that hotel and they weren't helpful. I went to that company's website and sent an email. I figured I had done all I could and it would have to wait until I was back in Vegas.

That email got sent to a manager of the engineering (maintenance) department for Caesars Entertainment. The guy sent me an email saying yes he could get me more info about that music but it would take him a few days. I sent a thank you email back and kind of figured I wasn't going to hear from this guy again.

Last night I got 8 emails from him, each email had about a half dozen songs in it. He basically sent me all the music they play out in the valet. Not the track list. The actual songs.

One of the things I like best about myself, and I hope you all like it about me is how easy it is to make me happy. I turn into a little kid or a little puppy over the simplest things. I never want to outgrow that. You can imagine how happy I was last night when those emails came in. I sent the guy a thank you email but I feel like it wasn't enough. I'm going to try to get a gift to him the next time I'm in Vegas. The Rat Packers were known for extravagant tips and gifts. I mean who doesn't have a gold lighter from Sammy? I'll do what I can, but, I'm not in that league.

I suspect that Bally's has stolen my heart with this. They've swept my off my feet with a grand romantic gesture. I might have to become loyal to Bally's now.

I've heard that music also & wondered why all of the casino's don't do it also. It is definitely a mood-setter.....in a nice way!!

Its funny how music can set or sour a mood. That's probably why I like to play at Margaritaville, they play good music there. As opposed to one day playing craps at the Las Vegas casino on Fremont. They were playing some hip hop crap. No one liked it and I made it a point of telling the crap table dealers that their music sucked on Every god awful song after another.

I was playing at a crap table at Harrahs Reno one night and noticed that they were playing the same 8 songs over and over again. No one noticed except me until I made it a point to sing (quite badly I add) Pink Cadillac every time it came on.

Margaritaville Casino has a great ambiance.......and seeing the waitresses in bikinis, an ambulance is needed with the ambiance.

As Ferris once said "Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you may miss it".
That's the way i feel about Vegas..........the little things that most people either take for granted or never notice them at all.

That IS exactly what we like about you... :poke:

Seriously, your posts always reflect a sincere and genuine individual. I admire and respect that. I too try to look for things to make me happy, as opposed to trying so hard, as many do, to be unimpressed or offended.

Keep in mind, I'm lazy. This post is also the email I sent to my brother and a few friends. So, I didn't edit some of the personal stuff. Hey, at least I didn't go into what kind of tree I would be if I was a tree. Or other tmi gross out topics. But, thank you Smartone. I like you too. :peace:

Anyhow, I refer to the people on various Vegas message boards as "Vegas Nerds". Because you know everything about Vegas...like a nerd. It's quicker than saying "one of the people from my a Vegas board who knows what they're talking about and give good advice says..."

Oh WOW! That is so sweet.

after all the toiling you went through, there was a rainbow at the end of it all. That man really went above and beyond--not forgetting, getting back and just giving you everything. Yes!!! I LOVE it!!

How great is that?! People who take the time to do nice things for others like that will definitely be rewarded somehow!

Or is it possible to get the names of the songs (i would get the files on itunes)? They added such a nice "classic Vegas" touch during our last stay at Bally's and I am sure my wife would love listen to those songs again. :)

It's always nice when a stranger does something special for you. That engineering guy could have just as easily deleted your email but he took some time to put it all together for you. That was really kind!

Months ago, I used to always start with "someone that knows a lot on the Vegas message board that I follow says blah, blah, blah" when explaining some Vegas information to my husband. Just last night we were discussing how difficult it would be to take a bus somewhere and I found myself saying "I'll have to check with my friend Dewey". Even though my husband doesn't read the board, he knows of Dewey, Joe, Smartone and many others. If I mention friend followed by a name he doesn't recognize, he automatically knows where the info came from.

Cheers to all the nerdy friends here
