I just got back from that seemingly wonderful "two buffets a day" offer from the Aria. I figured at worst I could just get breakfast there each morning...

After the first buffet visit, which I had to pay partially out of my pocket because the fine print says it only covers $60 a day, I decided I'd rather pay than visit again.

I'm sure the food it passable for many, but for me it was actually one of the few times that Vegas food didn't agree with my body and I actually felt bad afterward. Plus I was upset that I was wasting a food opportunity. :)

BTW - I also walked to the Cosmo buffet just to look and it didn't seem all that impressive (granted just looking at food isn't the best way to evaluate it, but still :) )

Just thought I'd mention for all those considering the offer.

I'm confused -- your first visit but you had to pay because it only covers $60 a day -- uhm, the buffet costs more than $60?

It's an understandable view on buffets - which I happen to share. Now, don't get me wrong. I understand why many people like buffets. I'm just not one of them either.

My experience at the Aria buffet was entirely different. I enjoyed it immensely and felt perfectly fine afterwards.
And, I would also differ with you on the assessment of the Cosmo buffet.

If I remember correctly, the lunch buffet is at least $40 per person. So if there were 2 of them, they would've had to pay the overage. We had a BOGO with our offer a couple of years ago and they said to just charge it to the room and they applied a $40 credit to cover the one buffet.

I like buffets because I can load up on proteins for one price.

Look at breakfast. i only eat protein for breakfast so a normal one does my no good because I dont eat the potatoes or toast.

I can eat a double portion of the meats and fats for breakfast at a buffet for cheaper and be more satisfied.

    Not a huge buffet fan...

Generally won't pay for it (tho MSS breakfast when we could get 2/1 was a terrific value)...but have hit a few free.
PH--disappointed in breakfast (really did not think it was possible to screw up a breakfast buffet); DH did lunch (and he is less of a buffet fan than I) & felt it was decent
Paris--solid, quite pleased (would NEVER pay their outlandish prices)
(had these free with free 24 hr. Buffet of Buffets with CET credit card).

Had Cosmo Wicked Spoon buffet with resort credits at Cosmo last January--AMAZING. WILL pay for that buffet in the future. Why? The food was creative & extremely flavorful--the opposite of what I typically find in buffets.

You're barking up the wrong tree. I love a good buffet and visit at least once a day when in Vegas. It's probably this fact that makes me hate a bad buffet even more.

Just passing along my experience. A friend on the same trip offered a similar opinion before I gave him mine.

Sorry you had a bad experience. I know that can happen from time to time. We've got a couple of "free" dinner buffet passes; so, we figured it can't be as bad as the Riviera's buffet.

Thanks for the post. I'm staying at Aria in November but will probably head over to Cosmo or Bellagio for either of their buffets.

I'm guessing it will run laps around the Riv buffet. :)

As I said, others may like it.

Caesars was fairly amazing a few trips ago. More expensive, but consider that too.

In 2009 when the economy was in the dumps MGM had an offer for 3 complimentary buffets every day.

We were there for a week and ate at the buffet for all three meals every day.

We were thinking that we can go to any restaurant during other visits.

We just returned from Vegas last week and went to the Aria dinner buffet on a Thursday night. I was not happy with it because it was 90% seafood, yuck. My husband enjoyed it because he does like all of the seafood, but he said he felt very terrible the next day. It was the only place he had eaten that evening and either thought it was borderline food poisoning or it just didn't agree with him.

I have no reason to go back, although I enjoyed the $13 all you could drink option! :)

I'm with Cousin Eddie. I eat low carb and can get plenty of protein at the buffets in Vegas.

They raised the price to $5.99 with slot card, but the Aliante breakfast buffet is amazing for that price. I can get a nice omlet made and load up with bacon & sausage to go with it. (but I still sneak in some potatoes as I'm just trying to keep my weight where it is and although I lose a pound or two here & there, I'm not attempting to lose any more)

Same with the M at night; heavy on the proteins, some low carb beer and I'm good to go. $25 out the door for all the prime rib I want and free beers. Can't beat it.

I'm an idiot and confused Wicked SPoon at Cosmo with the Aria buffet. I went for dinner and it was horrendous. Not much of a selection, and the stuff I did take was not good at all. I was dumbfounded. And then realized my mistake.

I just came back from Vegas last night and had the dinner Buffet at Aria last Wednesday. My take is that it is a smaller poor man's version of Wicked Spoon. I got the buffet free from myVegas.

The buffet was...okay. I liked the Dim Sum selections the best (Korean short ribs and steamed pork buns were very good). They had both Alaskan King and Snow crab legs. Sushi options were limited. Desserts were decent.

There are much better buffets for the price (Cosmo and Bellagio are about the same price for dinner) but perfectly fine for free.

    Chris
