Table Games Dealer BJ error. What do you do?

I played at the local casino today and had four mistakes by the dealers. On the first I had a push and the dealer paid me. She was swiping the cards in front of me and I pointed out her error. The second time I didn't say anything and took the money. The third and forth time I had pushes that they tried to take my money and I pointed out the mistake and left after the fourth error. Do you point out an error not in your favor?

 

Yes, I always point out an error if it is against me. The house already has an advantage, why would I let them take my money from me if it was really a tie or a win.

 

I suppose for an error in my favor it would really depend

if the dealer seems competent and they are just having an off day or perhaps at the end of a very long shift I might point it out

if the dealer is incompetent and also having errors against me that I have to watch for I would not point out the errors in my favor because chances are they have screwed others in favor of the house and more importantly it is really not my job to have to watch over the dealer for the house and nothing teaches any business a lesson about poor employee training and performance like losing money

 

I doubt I would ever point out an error in my favor, I will of course point out one against me. I hardly see any errors on either side though, at least that I notice.

I had one on my last trip though where a dealer at PH paid me on a push. It was maybe $200 or $300 and I just took the money. She actually realized her mistake right afterwards and later when she was going on break she told the other dealer she must be tired and pointed at me and said "I paid that guy on a push earlier". :evillaugh

 

you should always point out a dealer mistake that is not in your favor otherwise you just loose money when your supposed to win. but when they pay me by accident i keep my mouth shut! i never say i am a saint,,i am trying to win at blackjack and if the dealer is making mistakes that are helping me win then i am not going to stop them

 

I hope there is nobody that would not point out a mistake going against them but I a sure there is someone out there too shy to say anything. I was pretty amazed that there were four mistakes in the small time that I played.

 

I'm with casinoboy on this one, and yes, 4 errors by the dealer in such a short time is unusual. Either a novice dealer or one that needs a refresher course at dealer school. Whenever I've seen this happen, more times than not, it usually involves Aces and the dealer getting the total count wrong.

 

I've noticed it the most with pushes I get when I actually lost by one...and always when I have 4+ cards to my hand.
Most common is a multi-card dealer 20 to my multi-card 19.

On those few occasions when I am paid on a push hand, I always leave my bet and my "win" right where they are until the dealer is about the deal the next thand, or if she indicates that I need to pick up my bet. A good 90+% of the time, I parlay the improper winnings for the next hand.
IF I win that next one, I tip the dealer a good chunk of the "extra" winnings... but I usually wait a few hands before doing so so that the pitt-critters don't think there was some sort of connection.

 

One caveat -- if the dealer makes several errors in your favor and you say nothing, you might be suspected of being in collusion with the dealer.

 

I wonder if you can condition a dealer to make mistakes. For instance if you cheer every time you win and grunt every time you lose, could it condition the dealer to think you won whenever you cheer....hmmm. It probably wouldn't work on obvious hands, but if you cheered on those close hands you lost where you had a ton of cards maybe it would.

Not that I'm suggesting anyone try it of course

 

Guess I'm swimming against the tide here, but even though the house may have a slight advantage since I am not an expert card counter, I have to be honest and point out mistakes that favor me as well as those that go against me. Not trying to say it's a karma thing, but dealers make mistakes in their job just like I screw up in mine. I can only hope that people who recognize my errors don't try to take advantage of them. Dealers are working folks just like most of us, and my attitude is that we're all kinda in this together....

 

I don't like to take money that's not mine. not because I'm a saint, but because I think the karma catches up to you when you do things like that.

 

I don't think I've ever had a dealer error in my favor. But the one time I remember when it was a push and they took my bet I said something. I was a little drunk, a lot drunk, and it probably came out a bit louder than I usually am.

 

The casinos didn't build themselves with winners, but something tells me that paying me on a push (or when I had 22, as happened at Circus Circus a few years back) won't make them tear the places down either. I take my money and sit quietly.

 

If the dealer error only impacts me, I always speak up. However, if it impacts any other player at the table, I keep my mouth shut and leave the chips in their place until after everyone else has picked up their chips...to give the dealer a chance to catch his/her mistake.

 

This was two different dealers. One (lady) trying to pay me twice on pushes the other (male) trying to take my money when I had a push.

 

To all the "do gooders" out there that think they are doing the dealer a favor when they point out errors-

When this happens, a pit critter must get involved. Sometime dealer errors lead to the disciplinary action against the dealer. Many times dealers realize their own mistakes immediately after making them. They usually leave it alone and move on, for the reasons I mentioned.

When an error occurs, if it is in the players favor, keep your mouth shut. Then, its a win-win for you AND the dealer.

 

Not long ago I was playing locally and had a dealer make a mistake in our favor - said she busted at 22 when she actually had 21. Had it just been me I probably would have said something and almost did as I was at third base and she paid me first. But lady in the middle of the table was playing bigger than me and had a large bet out that hand. I looked at her and she smile at me to confirm she knew what I was thinking and so I kept my mouth shut.

Agreed. I did this this other night at Harrah's Cherokee while down a bit.. When I left, I ended up winning quite a bit
