    My Trip Report

    USUAL CAST OF CHARACTERS:

Erik…first born who lives in Houston. Yes, he inherited my love of Vegas. This is obvious as he arrived in Vegas almost three days before Tammy and me. He had organized a college roommate reunion with three of his friends during part of our trip.

Tammy…baby sister from Wisconsin and one of my best friends (I do have another sister who may see this). Who better to share Vegas with?

    Me…

GOAL: We decided we needed to branch out downtown and break out of our usual routine. We decided to play $20.00 at a blackjack table at every casino downtown.

DISCLAIMER: Read only if you are very bored and looking to waste the next 15-30 minutes of your life. This report is filled with mindless dribble, no fine dining, and no $200 shows. Also, pictures are at a minimum as I am techie challenged and was very lazy.

MONDAY, AUGUST 8, 2014: It was a very long day as our Allegiant flight doesn’t leave Duluth until 8:55 p.m. and I woke up with a queasy stomach and the chills. As planned, Tammy came up for pizza and pre Vegas cocktails. I watched her eat and drink. Our flight left ten minutes early, quick luggage claim, and great cab driver. At the registration desk at the California, we knew Erik was at the tables as we could hear him. We walked by his table on the way to our room and he was in his glory with his new “friends”. Tammy and I are organized people and we wanted to get our luggage unpacked and make our room our new home for the next seven nights. Thank goodness I started feeling better…maybe something to do with being in my favorite city. As is tradition, cocktails in the room. (Erik had texted us when he arrived three days earlier to let us know that he was getting free internet in the room via LV.Net. Even though we were both in the west tower, Tammy and I were unable to access it. We were on the 22nd floor and Erik on the 16th floor. However, we were able to use the internet at the pool which is on the 13th floor. Obviously, next year, we will request a lower floor.)

We went downstairs where hilarity ensued. Hugs with Erik’s new “friends”, hugs with our favorite cocktail server, and hugs from one of our favorite dealers. We even saw Harvey, one of the players we met from our last August trip. Erik did make the announcement at the table that he and his wife are expecting baby number two in March. After a few hours of playing cards, it was time to get Erik safely to his room and get our vodka and pop that we had him pick up for us (after all he had three days to do it).

TUESDAY, AUGUST 9: I don’t understand it, but I was awake by 6:30 and tossed and turned as I watched Tammy sound asleep. I was starving and then remembered I hadn’t eaten for over 28 hours. Knowing I couldn’t wait for our usual 2:00 meal, I went down to the Market Street Café for a light meal of eggs and toast. We were at the pool by 8:30 and surprised that there were at least ten other folks at what we refer to as our “private” pool. We were even more surprised when Erik showed up after the night he had. We laughed about some of the antics from the night. Erik left for his favorite place…The Boar. Tammy and I spent the next hour in the pool with a group of Hawaiians (surprise) comparing Vegas notes. Routine—shower, cocktails and meeting Erik. When we leave the room we put our remaining cocktail in solo cups that we bring from home. The waitresses are used to it and automatically pour our drinks into our solo cups. We both prefer them to the little plastic cups that they serve drinks in.

With another goal of wanting to branch out a bit, we walked over to The Plaza to eat at Hash House A Go Go that I had heard so much about on the Vegas boards. After taking half the meat off the hamburger, Tammy and I split our meal. None of us were overwhelmed with the menu and probably won’t be back. Walked by the tables to play our $20 at a blackjack table. After looking at the horrible rules and the continuous shufflers, we just couldn’t talk ourselves into playing. Scratching The Plaza off our list went over to the Golden Gate to play our $20. Another scratch.

We walked down to the Fremont (okay, a Boyd property), and Tammy went off for her first machine of the trip and Erik and I found a table to play at. I know Erik too well, and could feel his immediate dislike for the player at the end of the table. He was bragging about being upgraded to a suite, telling his wife every move to make, pulling out hundred dollar bills, etc. Erik told me later he couldn’t wait until he lost all of his money so he would leave. It finally happened and his replacement seemed personable. At least until he hit his 12 with the dealer’s six up. Time to go.

We decided to split up for a bit as Erik wanted to go to the room and do some internet stuff. Tammy and I walked by the Elvis museum at Binion’s which is located by the former hotel lobby ($10 admission fee, and looked very tacky). They do have on display a car of Elvis’s and Benny’s car that used to be parked in the valet area. We wanted to get five points on our card for our free swipe. I was ready to sit at a China Moon machine when Tammy hollered to me to sit at a China Moon machine in the next row. To make her happy, I went and sat at the machine she found for me. On my third spin, I got into the bonus round and got over 170 free spins. At the time, I seriously didn’t know if I had hit for $89 or $890. Yippee...cashed out at $890. Of course, I gave Tammy a finder’s fee as I wouldn’t have won without her making me move to the machine she picked out.

We played machines at the Four Queens and Golden Gate and then met Erik back in our room. As much as he makes fun of us for all the snacks we bring, he loves reaping the benefits. Tammy and I made cocktails and Erik had snacks and a cup of Vodka. We walked over to MSS, another favorite of ours. A woman sat down with a strange looking visor on that we couldn’t tell where her hair started and her visor ended. Totally non talking, big better, and totally disgusted with the world. Erik decided he didn’t like her either and that she had a huge gambling problem. Back to the CAL and found Sebla, one of our favorite dealers from last year and facebook buddy. We felt bad as we were so happy to see her, but the cards were horrible.
We sadly changed tables to a very sad story table. A guy that sat with us told us that four days ago his then girlfriend took all his money, took his $17,000 car, and left him bankrupt and homeless. He was trying to make a few dollars to be able to book a room at MSS. I thought if he hadn’t gambled and lost, he would have had money for the room. He asked Erik and I if we smoked as he was trying to sell us a pack of his former girlfriend’s cigarettes that he had in his pocket. After he left, the next person that sat in his spot told us he had liver cancer. Erik and I started talking about the show “Duck Dynasty” when the guy on third base immediately got up and left. Thinking back, he kind of looked like he could be on that show and was probably insulted.

We changed tables again…hopefully, to something more upbeat. Since our last visit, the CAL started a new side bet called the “Pair Square”. Very simple concept, but on the table is a brochure explaining it. Erik started reading out loud the various rules when a player grabbed all his chips saying “I can’t listen to this anymore”. Erik was telling Tammy and me random things that had happened during his few days in Vegas without us. He had been approached on Fremont Street by someone asking if he wanted to buy some cocaine. Erik had to decline and then was offered women. Another decline. The final deal was both cocaine and women. Erik had us in stitches as he was saying he wouldn’t even know if he were getting a good deal or not as he doesn’t know the market price of either. At one point he slipped and said a medium cuss word and the pit boss gave him “the look”. Erik thought that it was funny that he couldn’t say a certain word, but he could talk about cocaine and women. Another interesting night in Vegas and off to bed by 11:30.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7: Erik beat us to the pool. It is always fun in the morning to relive some of the events of the previous evening. We decided the next table we would do a blackjack experiment where we sit back, be quiet, and see if anyone decides to entertain us. We played at the CAL and the experiment failed horribly. The dealer couldn’t understand why we were so quiet. We told her we were hoping someone else would start the conversations for a change. She told us it probably wouldn’t happen. We walked over to 777—hands down, our favorite restaurant. It is always fun to order several items and share so we had fish and chips, chicken wings, and pizza. We walked by The Grand to see the progress and we are very excited to see the finished project and, hopefully, we will have another casino to go to.

We are still trying to stay open minded and walked to the El Cortez. They have good table rules and a nice assortment of machines; however, we just haven’t had any luck there in the past few years. We actually played with a very nice dealer and a nice couple from Chicago. The husband had just found out two weeks before their Vegas vacation that he had lost his job of 24 years. We felt bad for him, but the couple decided they weren’t going to let that spoil their trip. Erik took off (internet business) and Tammy and I tried machines without any luck. We took our time walking down Fremont. I certainly am not fond of the new zip line construction and it seems to take up a lot of space on an already crowded street.

Tammy and I needed our Big Brother fix so we went to the room. It turned out we were an hour off so took our cocktails and ipads to the pool area. Erik begrudgingly met us in the room, only for our great room snacks and a cup of vodka. He was telling us about Henry and a crazy lady by the name of Irene that he had just played cards with. Between Henry standing and hopping up and down and Irene screaming “monkey” at the cards anytime she wanted a face card, the table was hysterical. Also Irene would only let you talk at certain times during the deal and would punch Erik hard in the arm.

It was time for the tables again and the three of us secured spots with a hysterical couple from Texas. I know Erik thought it was fun to let the Texans entertain us for a change. However, if someone wanted to torture me with bad cards…mission accomplished. I ended up going to the next table where I felt I was at a funeral. Of course, my “buddies” had to make a scene by constantly high fiving each other and then turning around to laugh at me. However, I was finally getting some decent hands until a player decided to split her tens.

I walked around and there happened to be a spot at Henry’s table which turned out to be my best decision of the day. Henry’s positive outlook on life was contagious. He believes if you are going to gamble, whether winning or losing, to always have fun doing it. He instantly adopted me as his daughter and he was my new casino dad. Erik came and joined us and became Henry’s grandson. Henry stays at The CAL 3-4 times per year. He comes with his companion, Ann, of 40 years. Ann’s health isn’t very good and she uses an oxygen tank. To see the two of them together tugs at your heart strings. Laughingly, Henry told us that he and Ann had never consummated their relationship and that is why is is jumping up and down all the time. He loved that we laughed at all his one liners and enjoyed the game as much as he does. With promises to meet up the next day, time to call it a night at 1:30.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 8: Pool routine. We met downstairs and played at two different tables. Erik figured he had lost approximately 17 hands in a row. We decided to continue with trying to branch out and walked through Binion’s. We bit the bullet and played at a 6:5 table and we each made a little profit. One of the dealers we had was from the original Binion days, so it was fun to reminisce with her about the good old days. We ate at the Fremont buffet using points off my card. Erik went back to his room to do, of course, internet business and Tammy and I played machines at Binion’s to get our five points for our free swipe.

I met Erik at MSS for some more bad cards. I left him at the table to go play one of my favorite older machines (Flame of Olympus). I made a profit of $150 so it helped to offset the bad cards. Tammy and I then played at the CAL with this incredible lady. She was 66 and looked like she was 50. She had 3 children, 13 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. It was interesting that as soon as it was Big Brother time, everyone left to go watch this silly ridiculous reality TV show. Some stupid football was on, so we went back downstairs.

Tammy went to her machines and Erik was at a table playing with Henry and his companion, Ann. OMG, the table was loud and probably due mostly to Erik. The cocktail waitress was beyond speedy! Knowing Erik had college roommates coming in the next day, I knew he should take it easy. I motioned to the cocktail waitress to cut him off…ha, ha! Erik didn’t find it funny at all. Like he said, he wouldn’t have a problem if the pit cut him off, but it didn’t seem right that the waitresses listened to his mom. He said he would just go to the bar and buy a beer. The mom in me decided to stick to my guns and told him if he did, I was leaving him to his own devices. Challenge on! He headed for the bar and I hugged Henry and Ann goodnight. I was in the room with a $250 profit. Side note: Erik woke up the next morning with $600 from our blackjack session. (Ann did tell me the next day that when Erik came back to the table with his beer that he did feel bad that I had left.)

FRIDAY, AUGUST 9: I was more than shocked to see that Erik was at the pool, let alone beat us there. It turned out that after I ditched him he went to Binion’s for a burger and played some more cards. After our two hour pool time, back to the room for our usual cocktails. Tammy’s cell phone rings and I could tell from what she was saying that this wasn’t good. Her husband, Joe, called to tell her that he was at the hospital with a broken back. Earlier that morning he was at some rural property alone and was pushing an overloaded four wheeler on a ramp. The wheeler literally tipped over on top of him. By an act of God, he was able to get the wheeler off him and drive to the hospital. He was still unsure of the extent of his injuries. I called my husband and told him that until we got home he needed to be in charge and text Tammy on any developments. Needless to say, Tammy stayed back to digest the news, make phone calls, etc.

I met Erik at the tables downstairs as he was meeting the first of three college buddies (watch out Vegas). We had been giving the CAL a hard time the past few days regarding the crazy side bet of the pair square. Erik happened to put a $5 chip on the bet and not only got a pair, but a same suit pair for a nice $125 win. I told him when we had lunch at the Chicago Brewery, it would be his treat.

I played cards for a bit with Erik and buddy #1 before they left to meet buddy #2. It was now 4:30 and I went to the room to check on Tammy. She hadn’t eaten yet, so I told her I would pick up some food and bring it to the room. Of course, I needed to go to 777 to pick up her favorite chicken wings and a hamburger for us to split. We had some much needed food (26 hours) and a much more needed cocktail. Tammy decided that it was a Friday night in Vegas and she should make the best of a bad situation and that we would go downstairs for some cards.

OMG, there are angels up there! It was perfect that Henry was also looking for a table to play at so the three of us found a table together. If Henry can’t put a smile on your face, time to give up. The crazy lady that Erik had told us about a few days ago (Irene) came and found us. It turned out that she and Henry see each other occasionally at the CAL as they both come on the charters from Hawaii. Erik wasn’t exaggerating in his description of Irene. She would tell Henry to shut up during the deal, scream monkey when she wanted a ten, blow on the dealer’s ace to make it not a blackjack, etc. Irene would have stacks and stacks of green chips in front of her and before you knew it, she was pulling out more money. Henry had previously told us that Irene had won $17,000 the night before so we knew she didn’t need our sympathy. A waitress who we weren’t familiar with came with our cocktails. She attempted to take my solo cup and I told her no as “my cups are bigger than your cups”. It was obvious to the table that this was far from the truth, but it was a great laugh. Luckily, Henry never sits down when playing cards or he would have fallen off his chair from laughing. For the rest of our time together, Henry loved when the server came to the table so he could talk cup size. It was time for Henry and Ann to go to dinner and we made promises to connect later. Even crazy Irene had to come and give Tammy and I each hugs. It was an absolute perfect table for Tammy to play at to give her a few hours of not thinking about the accident.

A Friday night in Vegas and time to stroll on FSE for awhile. The nice thing about sisters is how our minds think alike. Any crazy thing we saw, ridiculous outfit, etc., we each knew what the other was looking at it and thinking exactly the same thing. The usual street cartoon characters were out in full force. However, we did have some good chuckles over the old Cupid man prancing around shooting his arrow, little hearts glued on his nipples, some kind of skimpy bottom on with his butt cheeks hanging out, and smoking a cigarette the entire time. However, does he have to constantly come our way?

The band was awesome and we watched them for at least an hour. As good as the band was, it was just as much fun to watch folks dancing around us. Again, why does that cute 22 year old want me to go dance with him? It did make me chuckle thinking that the more one drinks, the sexier they think they are.

Back to our beloved CAL and bumped into Erik, plus three. Henry was pleased to see us and made his way to our table. It was getting late and Tammy had an emotional long day so time for her to call it a night. Irene found us and our table was full. She somehow squeezed her way on my chair practically sitting on my lap. It was getting late so hint taken and I gave Irene my spot and bid goodnight to our new friends.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 10: Routine. This was surgery day for Joe. He ended up having two 12 inch rods put in his lower back along with many screws to repair two torn ligaments.

Tammy and I played cards with another favorite dealer, Pamela. She had dealt to Erik a few days ago and asked him where his mom was so it was fun to see her again. We met Erik and all three friends at the Chicago Brewery for lunch (Erik’s treat). We made plans to meet at the Four Queens at 6:30 to see the Mike Hammer show. We saw it last year and for $15/ticket, I believe it to be one of the better values in Vegas. Again, we had too much leftover pizza, so I had it boxed up and put some napkins and silverware in. We saw a man in front of the casino holding a sign that said “hungry” so I knew I would offer it to him. I asked him if he wanted some fresh hot pizza and I was surprised when he asked me “what kind?” Either he was a very picky eater or really wasn’t that hungry. However, he did end up taking it.
We did our usual trip through Binion’s to get our five points to get our free daily swipe (I won a free deck of cards for the low cost of $20). We went to the ABC store to buy some more pop and stopped by the bar in the CAL to get some more lemon and lime slices for our in-room cocktails.

We went back downstairs and found Irene and Henry. Irene told us that she had just found out that her dad that lived in Singapore had just passed away. A few tears and group hugs all around. Irene made a trip to the restroom and Henry told us that he had signed $2,000 in markers for her the previous night. Apparently, she had her winnings bundled up in the room and due to superstition, didn’t want to take money from her winnings. When Irene came back to the table she got a pen and paper from the pit and wrote down Henry’s address and phone number with a promise to mail him a check for $2,000. Again, goes to Henry’s character, that he is just such a good and giving man. Irene wanted to take Tammy and me to Pasta Pirate for dinner, but we sadly declined as we needed to meet Erik, plus three, at the Four Queens. Again group hugs and kisses and promised we would look for them when we got back from the show. We knew both of them were going home the next day.

We met Erik and his buddies right on time. They were all grinning ear to ear as they just came from The D playing the sigma derby machines and couldn’t wait to get back to the winning horses. As usual, Mike Hammer was great with some same material and some different. However, I would think that depending on the audience, there is always some variation. After the show we walked to The D as we wanted to see Erik and buddies in action. Tammy and I were more than entertained watching grown men yell and cheer at plastic horses running around a track.

Said our goodnights and left them to their own devices and walked our way through a very crowded FSE. We sat at a table at the CAL and Tammy started to get a queasy stomach so bid me good night. I moved around for a bit and played at a favorite Geisha penny machine and hit for $300 plus. As I was getting ready to call it a night, I literally bumped into Erik and one remaining friend. The two of them sat down at a table and I was laughing so hard that my side hurt and their antics. Neither of them were feeling any pain and his “friend” had never played blackjack, let alone pitch. Any rules that could be broken were, and then some. Even though I knew they had plans to go shooting sometime on Sunday, I knew it wouldn’t do me any good to tell them to behave.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 11: Routine…with regrets. It is always sad in Vegas knowing it is your last full day. This trip was different, as I knew Tammy was anxious to get home. Our usual bad morning cards at both the CAL and MSS. Luckily, I was able to again get a decent hit on my penny Olympus machine to semi offset my losses. Tammy and I ate at MSS for one last time and split the garlic bread pizza, loaded potato chips, and of course, our chicken wings. Even though I was shunned on my last attempt to give our leftovers to someone, there was too much food to waste. Tammy did laugh when I added toothpicks in with the leftovers and said dental hygiene probably isn’t number one on their minds. The first person we bumped into that looked hungry was more than appreciative of a warm meal. We bumped into Erik and his college buddy coming back from their afternoon of shooting. It sounded like they both had a great time and showed us a few of the pictures that they took with Erik holding an assault rifle. It worked out perfectly as they were on their way to Binion’s for burgers and Tammy and I had 2 for 1 coupons accumulated from our free spins during the week.
Tammy and I split up for a bit with plans to meet back in the room for one last session of evening cards. It sucked that my last full day gambling was horrible. However, I was happy that Tammy was hitting machine after machine on her last day. I was playing cards at the CAL when Erik walks through after saying goodbye to his friends. He sits at the table with a cup of shrimp cocktail from the Golden Gate and sits down at my table. He has a habit of pushing the dealer’s buttons regarding what is allowed at a table. He explained that the shrimp cocktail was okay as he also had a fork with him. Despite losing, we had a fun two hours playing cards together. We said our goodnights and made plans to meet for breakfast in the morning.

MONDAY, AUGUST 13: Ugh, instead of our usual routine it was time to pack. The three of us went to Dupres at the Golden Gate for breakfast. It was apparent that Erik’s nine days in Vegas finally caught up with him physically. His flight wasn’t leaving until 5:00 p.m. so Tammy and I both urged him to get a late check out and go crash for a few hours (for once he took my advice). Hugs again and can’t wait to see him, his son, and lovely pregnant wife over the holidays.

We went to Binion’s to get our five points and swipe our card one last time. We also took advantage and used our comps to get a cold deli sandwich to go to eat on the plane. One last run of cards at MSS and said all our goodbyes to the pit, servers, and all the fantastic blackjack dealers at both MSS and the CAL.

We had another great cab driver to the airport. Last year I treated myself to a piece of jewelry at Brighton’s and decided to make it a tradition and buy a piece every year. Of course, as sisters do, Tammy decided to follow my lead. The sales staff was a riot and we promised to also see them next year. Over $100 later, off for our timely Allegiant flight.

    FINAL THOUGHTS:

We had good intentions of playing cards at every downtown casino. Mission had been aborted due to some of the horrible blackjack rules we saw at The Plaza, Vegas Club, Golden Gate, and The D. We continue to be huge fans of the Boyd properties.

We did not make a trip to the strip this year. The three of us agreed that we didn’t miss it.

As much as I curse technology, I was so thankful for it this trip. I know it was hard for Tammy being so far away from her husband and family; but with cell phones she was able to get updates, changes, etc. immediately.

I know Erik thought of writing a trip report this year, but I highly doubt he will. I have a hunch that he and his college roommates had too many “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” moments.

We hope to connect with Henry, Ann, and Irene the second week of August 2014. They were truly some of the most memorable people we have met in all of our Vegas trips. Henry for his truly positive and happy outlook on life; Ann for bringing such joy to Henry; and Irene. Despite Irene’s quirkiness, we all grew quite fond of her. My one regret is that I didn’t think to take a picture of us together.

It was hard to return home where the temperature was almost 50 degrees cooler.

It feels good to have my Vegas funds put aside for our next annual trip.

    EXPENSES:
    - $326.96 (air)
    - $ 29.28 (room)
    - $200.00 (tips, food, cab fare, misc.)
    +++++ $800.00 (gambling profit)

    FINAL NOTE:
2014 is an even numbered year which means it will be a COMPLETE three sister trip. It goes without saying that there were many moments that Tammy and I couldn’t help thinking…WWCD (What Would Colleen Do) and start laughing. An added bonus is one of our mutual best friends is joining us. Lynn is an avid lover of the strip and we plan to convert her to one of us. However, we have promised her she can go to the strip one day and combine it with us seeing Carrot Top. It goes without saying, that Erik will be joining us and, luckily, he has one full year to recoup.

Sorry to hear about the misfortunes of those not in Vegas, but enjoyed the report. I was particularly taken with the expression "medium cuss word". I rather try to flavour my invectives with the unusual for effect, so if medium is looked at askance at the Cal, I'll be sure to avoid.

I was so excited to see your trip report here BJQ, tell us what the medium cuss word was - you can say it here :wink2:
I am so sorry to hear about Tammy's husband Joe but wow...sounds like there were angels looking out for him! Wishing him a speedy recovery; Tammy is a trooper!
Henry and Irene sound like they are a blast! I love that comradery that develops at a BJ table (sorry Erik, I meant Blackjack).
Unless the life is sucked out of me, I am definitely planning to be in Vegas for the even numbered downtown August Sister/Son extravaganza and hope I have a Cosmo terrace on that trip to get Erik back to the strip for a visit, but I'll plan on staying a night or two DT to join the festivities. Congrats on the new grand baby. Tell Erik we'd love the rest of the story via an Erik TR.
    Hugs!!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Flusher...love your writing style and it would be a pleasure to meet another downtown lover.

Bre...what can I say, but "shit" was the word. Seriously, you are on regarding the wrap around Cosmo suite and a crazy evening downtown. I know for a fact I wouldn't even have to twist Erik's arm regarding a revisit to Cosmo. And you would love the other sister! Because Colleen only goes the even numbered years, she makes up for it when she does go.

As soon as dates for August are booked (and I am sure over your birthday), you will be the first to know. Hugs!!!

I'm willing to wager a good sum of money that Henry never got that check from Irene. Sounds like a typical scam artist ploy.

I am with electro guy on this one. When Henry was telling Tammy and me about signing the markers for Irene, he was sure he would get his money back. But, if he didnt, he would chalk it up to a friend that was no longer on his list of friends.

Side note...the first night Erik played with him, he saw Henry tip the security guy that brought chips to the table. Erik had never seen this before (as most of us haven't) and asked him about it. He replied "why wouldn't you? He brings us our money."

It goes without saying if I am fortunate enough to bump into Henry again August 2014, one of the first things I will ask is if he got a check from crazy Irene.

    Enjoyed your TR

Hahaha that reminded me of a time I was playing BJ at the Excal. I was losing damn near ever hand and when I did I'd say "Ahhh man your breaking my balls" (quote from Cartman on South Park).

From some reason the dealer got pissed and tattled on me to the pitboss. He comes over and asked me what I been saying, I told him "You're dealer keeps breaking my balls!" He busted up laughing and said you're not breaking any rules here, continue on playing. The dealer won in the end though and ended taking all my chips back.

Great trip report. I thoroughly enjoyed it

Henry sounds like a genuinely good guy. You rarely meet people like that nowadays. To think that I have family members I wouldn't lend a $20 to and he lends a gambling acquaintance/friend $2000. Hopefully he doesn't get burned.

Very nice report. Sounds like a great time DT. Heading to LV on black Friday and spending the weekend there before heading to the strip for 5 nights. As much as we enjoy spending time DT, I am sure we are going to love staying there (our first time). Love the idea of casino hopping to the tables. Thanks much for sharing.

Tell Eric to settle down... pushing the dealer's buttons (and bartenders, pit critters, security guards) is my "schtick"! Two different Texans from Houston pushing buttons will only confuse the poor staff at MSS/Cal?

I too have met Henry! Yes, he stands the whole time he plays? I always sit and hold on tightly to the table... if you fall on your ass; they make you go to bed? :drunk:

Thanks everyone for making it through the dribble. Glad you enjoyed and appreciate your kind words.

LV2Gamble...watch out, you could get hooked on downtown. Enjoy!

Squid...your reports are one of the few that I forward to my Vegas buddies. You and Erik together at one time at MSS or the CAL would be too much for the Boyd employees to handle. This report was actually semi PG rated regarding several events that took place and I was trying to protect the guilty parties.

Seriously, my one regret is that I didn't think to get Henry's address to let him know the dates that we will be there in August 2014. I sat at the table watching Irene write his address down and it never entered my vodka induced mind to also write it down. You have a job....if you see Henry on one of your trips, tell him to give him your address so you can pm it to me... His daughters.... Catherine and Tammy and grandson Erik.

I want to join in the Squid, Sisters and EriK downtown extravaganza! Squid, block some August 2014 time on your calendar! (I have got to see Squiddy and Erik in action together....of course as we toil to raise the inevitably required bail).

You and son always have so much fun. You met some fun characters. Hope it is repeated next year. Sorry about BIL. TG for technology letting your sister have instant communication.
