    That is funny!!

I continually ask myself the same question though as more and more reports come out that electronic device don't in fact have an impact on the electronics of the aircraft... :confused2:

Electronic devices have no impact on the aircraft...you can't use them during takeoff and landing because those are the most risky parts of the flight and the flight attendant needs to have your full attention in case something happens.

If there was any chance of impact on the aircraft then they would be prohibited throughout the flight...

    Great find Joe!

I love it when Southwest flight attendants start talking about the honor system and people start giving each other dirty looks.

Can I have a show of hands of how many can really believe that every single device is turned OFF as requested?

    Somebody always forgets.
Or it is in the bag in the overhead.
Or they do not want to turn it off.
Of they have no clue and can not hear or understand anything being said.

Based on this, planes should be falling out of the sky by now.

Exactly! Same reason why your tray and seat have to be up. In case something happens during those risky parts you need to be able to evacuate quickly. It'd be really hard to do if everone was getting tripped up on trays.

There is actually an issue that can be caused by a lot of cell phones. Any cell phone that uses a GSM signal (AT&T, T-mobile, and most international carriers) can actually cause a buzzing in headphones which a pilot could potentially hear if you are close enough. It happens when a message or call is sent/received and can be quite annoying.

It isn't exactly interference but it can be an issue if somebody got a text message at a bad time.

Same noise you get when your phone is too close to the computer and then you get a text??

Does anyone ever have a signal during flight? above 10k I dont have a signal...

Yes, same idea. And no, nobody would have any kind of consistent signal about about 10k. But the topic was about landing/takeoff, which is why this is actually relevant

When we flew on a private jet for my 27th birthday (Just from Fresno to Reno) the flight attendant said "It's just for people who can't pay attention to me" and I had my phone on the entire time....
I dunno if maybe just cuz we didn't fly too high or what...but I had a signal the entire flight...
