Just read that the Cantor books (at the M and the Palms) now don't allow you to use your cell phone or a computer at the seats where the individual TV's are located...there used to with no problem.

Can someone in Vegas verify? Have a trip coming up in Sept and planned to spend Friday at the M for the horses, Saturday there for CFB and then the NFL at the Palms...this is my usual schedule. If this is true and enforced, it will blow that plan as I have to have computer access.

    Thanks in advance.

As long as you are not using a personal communication device (cell phone or computer) to transmit gaming information, you should be okay.

Why? There's no law against it, so it has to be a Cantor thing.

To the OP, why would you want to sit in a Cantor book? I find them extremely boring and uncomfortable. I avoid Cantor books at all cost.

I agree with that. I recall rumors from earlier in the year that Caesars may switch over to Cantor gaming. Hope that never happens

That would be a travesty. I would never go back there.

Thankfully MGM properties do their own sports books and do them well. I don't think they have any plans to turn it over to Cantor.

Any serious player is glad Cantor is around.

They aren't afraid to take a bet. Can't say the same for Caesars or MGM books.

Yeah... well... They aren't afraid of much. They're also not afraid of letting me go thirsty in the sports book, they're not afraid of installing uncomfortable seating at terminals that either don't work or work slowly.

They're not afraid of bad customer service, they're not afraid of making you fill out lengthy forms by hand to receive an account (what good is the account when the terminal at the seat is worthless?).

They're not afraid of making you sign up for two accounts by hand if you plan to bet horses and sports, they're not afraid of making you sign-up separately at every race and sports book they own, and they're not afraid of making placing a bet very difficult. They're also not afraid to encourage you to do all of the above as well.

The only thing I think Cantor might be afraid of is making sports betting enjoyable because they've exploited every way imaginable of ensuring you won't like being in their sports books.

On the other hand, MGM books have never cowered in the corner at any of my bets and yet they seem to make being in the sports/race book and enjoyable experience. So, I think I'll just keep using them instead.

Sounds like MGM sports books are a good fit for you.

I can only get bets down at LVH, Wynn, and Cantor. MGM and Caesars do not welcome my action, so I don't have a choice.

The Cantor Mobile Sports Betting App is the greatest. I can make bets from my smartphone or tablet- anywhere in the state of Nevada. I can't think of anything more customer friendly than that.

I'm a happy Cantor (Hard Rock) customer and have used my IPad and IPhone in there just 3 weeks ago and nobody said anything. I'll be there next week and see what's up? I too enjoy the hell out of their APP... I live in Nevada and can easily go down to the sports book, but it sure is convenient to have an account with them and bet from home, office, etc.

Thanks for the comments and Smartone, I'll forward to your update. Apparently on the screensaver on the individual TV's it has the restriction re: phones and computers...I'm not sure why else you would be using a phone or a computer in the book if it is not to get info on the games.

    A couple notes:

    1) I actually find the books at the M and Palms very comfortable and like the fact that you can see the horse and sports games from the same seat.

    2) When the M switched to Cantor, customer service went to hell...when the Palms switched, I found the ticket writers to be friendly and efficient.

    3) You can't get a drink in either place although, at the Palms, if you ask after placing horse tickets they will come through. Waitresses at the M don't even round if you wanted to pay for a drink.

    4) I camp out for the day so I would like to have a place to plug in the computer and wireless access although that is less important since I have a portable connection.

I have a good friend checkin' on this... he made a good point... really hard to see this happening since they're pushing the phone/IPad app so hard.

I can see them pushing the app because their terminals absolutely suck. Personally, I like the concept of Cantor. The implementation of the concept is a complete fail, though.

IMHO, William Hill mobile app is far superior. I had all sorts of problems with delays with Cantor (you know, you tap a box, don't see the screen change so you tap it again because you weren't sure you tapped in the right spot or hard enough, then once the phone catches up you've been kicked back to the menu). Never had a problem with William Hill last spring, and I can't wait to deposit more money with them in the fall.

My friend is at Cantor (M) tonight watching/ betting the UFC fights... he asked and the Cantor folks confirmed computers, smartphones, etc are just fine in the sports book.

Thanks a lot for the feedback as you can imagine if I get up early and stake out a seat on CFB Saturday and then have one of their lackeys tell me to put the computer away...it would not make for a good day.

I can see their point as I make most of my wagers with offshores but, I do give them some play especially on the horses.

Looks like it is back to plan A...Friday and Saturday at the M and then Sunday at the Palms.

Not afraid to take a bet??? Are you kidding me. I tried to put $2500 on a big 10 football game at the M last year and had to wait 15 minutes for approval. I finally walked out (which is what I think they wanted) and put it in at Southpoint where they didn't bat an eye. From what i hear that's pretty standard there.
