We loved the Casino Royale's Progressive DB (in part for the characters you'd meet and the rapid fire drink service), but it looks like they dropped the paytable a bit. Cosmo's Sports and Book was fun, but the beer selection is a little lean. Any suggestions on .25 games that have close to a decent paytable or is that Royale game still about that best? I'm tearing apart VPfree2, but not having much luck. Thanks!

Pay tables at the 25 cent level on the strip are pretty rough, especially the bar tops. However, I too love playing those types of games, and have found that sometimes you can find a progressive that has an inflated royal jackpot, which makes them a bit more playable. For that, I suggest these two:

I like the Breeze Bar at TI. One side of the bar is 25 cent prog, the other is $1 prog.

Mirage Sportsbook Bar is solid too, but they are ten quarter max bet, so they play like a 50 cent machine.

Both have a decent selection and I've always had solid service at both.

Not much on the strip in terms of good VP pay tables unless you play the $1 level or higher where you can find some 9-6 in a few MLife property's high limit rooms.

    VP

Found the best play and payback at flight and Aruora bars at Luxor
And Shutters and Masqurade bars at Rio.
Bond at the Cosmo was fun and has great drinks and service but
Not as good of a payback.

    Have fun

Not sure what the pay table is (I think 8/5) but the Planet Ho bar top VP always gives me a good return.

Like what VP Player stated, the Queue Bar at Cosmopolitan (in between Bond and Book and Stage) is my favorite mid-strip-semi-crappy-paytables VP bar. 8/5 DDB at the $0.25 level but you get top shelf drinks (like Grey Goose martinis, Remy Martin VSOP cognac and Macallan 12 single malt scotch) comped. Plus you get that Cosmo eye-candy to enjoy while you play.

Even with the not-so-great paytables I always seem to do well at Cosmo. I know where I'll be in 2 weeks!

Anything you can't get comped? I believe you can get cocktails comped for VP at one Cosmo bar?

What's the paytable now? 9/6/5 DB? (97.8% max) It still might be your best game for a quarter strip bartop. If they have 7/5 Bonus (98.01% max) at the bars now (used to be 8/5), that would technically be a better game than 9/6/5 DB.

As for other casinos, CET paytables are all mediocre to bad and are very uniform among properties. Best game is 7/5 Triple Bonus Plus (97.67% max) followed by 6/5 Bonus (96.87% max) and 8/5 DDB (96.79% max) I think. I am for sure on the first game because thats what I play when there...lol But it might be worth making a quick stop at the Quad if you like craft beer. They had Dogfish head 90 minute IPA on tap at their new bar the last time I was there, and they said they would comp that. But they were out at the time...dammit.

Skip the Mirage sportsbook bar. Best game they offered was 30/6/5 Bonus (96.18% max), go to Cosmo or Quad before that place. Ironically my biggest hit last trip though was at the Sportsbook bar.

Wigwam, Cosmo is pretty liberal with comped VP drinks except for ultra-top shelf (like Johnnie Walker Blue, 15yr+ scotch, XO cognac, etc). Only the high limit rooms at the best casinos will give you that for free.

Also, Cosmo employs mixologists at their bars so they take their cocktails seriously. Just ask them to make you a special drink and you have something you've never had before and maybe will never again. Well worth the paytables-penalty!

Though the paytables probably aren't all that great, I've found there to be good drinking at Bar Moderno at Aria; bartenders know their stuff and are liberal with the specialty cocktails.

EDIT: Crap, sorry, missed the $0.25 part. Aria is $1 minimum at the bars as I recall. Still think the drinks are good, though.

Yep. The post I saw was that BP was down to 7/5, DB to 9/6 and DDB to 9/5. Haven't been out there to confirm that yet though. In general they've seemed to be tightening all around. My free hotel rooms and $20 in free play have dried up.

Thanks for the great input guys! I'm going to give a few of these a try. Cosmo drink service is outstanding. My only issue has been the beer selection is quite small. I guess for a time they didn't have Budweiser (or maybe still don't). Apparently, management likes to get into battles with distributors.

Are all the Aria bars now $1 min? Last time I was there (a while back, admittedly) I sat at the bar outside the sportsbook & played .25 VP for comped Sapphire & tonics.

I haven't played there in ahwile (almost a year), but they had quarters. It was noteworthy to me because it's the first (and only place so far) where I got yelled at for min-betting because I wanted my beer as cheaply as possible. I was the only one there and I didn't pull out a tip right away, so he possibly worried about being watched slash worried I was going to stiff him. I hoped to hit a Royal to rub it in his face when I complied with max betting, but alas no.

I can't remember where that bar was though. :( It may have been the sportsbar. I remembered playing 96.77% Deuces for a change of pace, so I'd assume 8/5 DDB (96.79%) would be there.

Also in the last year or so, I think MGM Properties have started becoming more restrictive on what they can comp. I know they wouldn't comp me certain craft beers at Monte Carlo this May. They didn't care as much about the one credit thing as long as they were getting tipped though.

Was playing less then max at Paris and ordered a vodka tonic. Bar tender yells I can't comp you that, your not betting max! I said I didn't give a dam if it was comped or not, I want a vodka tonic. Be dammed if I tipped that jacka$$.

I was there recently and, yes, Aria has $0.25 VP at the bar near the sports book. Paytables are comparable to CET and Cosmo (6/5 Bonus, 7/5 JOB...).

Agreed -- I was just there a couple of weeks ago. The sports bar and one other bar I saw (can't remember where) had 25 cent bar-tops, while all the rest of the bars (the nicer ones) had $1 per credit minimum. Also, at least for DW, the odds on the 25 cent bar tops at Aria were exactly the same as the odds on the same machines at Cosmo's Bond Bar.

IMHO, the Cosmo is the clear winner vs. Aria when it comes to bar-top VP, because the bartenders and specialty drinks are top notch (not to mention the people-watching). Just tip well, play slowly, and you'll have a great time!
