Breaking Bad ***Beware of Spoilers***

I know there's another thread but it seems like a lot of the people in there aren't caught up and don't want to read any spoilers. For anybody who hasn't seen the newest episode (Episode 509) please quit reading right now.

For those of us who are up to date, how about this last episode? In that final scene when Walt showed up at Hanks house I was hoping that he would ask about the tracking device that he found on his car. I was worried at first when it appeared that Walt was going to walk away without addressing that but when he turned around and came back, all I could say was "shit just got real." I'm glad they didn't drag it out over the first few episodes and had the confrontation in the first episode. It'll be interesting to see how these last 7 episodes go.

Love that show. I've been watching since the beginning.

The transformation of Walt is amazing. Remember season one Walt? A chemistry nerd in his underwear? Fast forward to present day, and Walt gets in Hanks face and tells him to "tread lightly." Freaking awesome.

Wish there were more than 7 episode remaining.

 

I do remember Walt in the first season, talk about a dramatic change! I still loved the episode that season where he went to Tuco's compound after Tuco beat the shit out of Jesse.

 

And one of my favorite quotes from the whole show was from Skinny Pete...

"I'm slinging mad volume and fat stacking benjis, you know what I'm saying? I can't be all about, like, spelling and shit."

 

Just thoughts

Walt's cancer is back.

Boy oh boy, can he ever lie with a straight face and be incredibly convincing. Over and over.

He loves his family. If he lives, will his family? There will be no happy ending.

I've never predicted an ending correctly.

 

Walt's ego has truly run amuck. Does he really think he can go toe to toe with the DEA? Lydia will unravel Walt's world.

 

Cmon, the DEA is a joke, hank seems to have some sort of second sense, but the DEA is a non factor...just like in real life.

 

SPOILERS FOR LAST NIGHT'S (9/8) EPISODE BELOW




Ok who watched last night? I don't think I was breathing or blinking for that last 15-20 minutes. That was insane. What do you think is going to be the outcome of the gun battle?

There's part of me that say that Hank and Gomez don't stand a chance so they have to be gone....but then why end it in the middle? Maybe Vince Gilligan et al want us to think their death is a given but then surprise us with a twist.

Who knows...

 

Gomez will probably die, then it will be just walt and hank again that know the truth. I hope jesse gets it but I know that wont happen.

 

Right after Hank got off the phone with Marie I said, "Hank is going to die, that will be the last time they spoke." I'm not sure why, it just seemed more like a goodbye than a victory. Then you see Todd and his Uncle in the rear view mirror and chaos ensues.

 

that was a good episode! i think hank and the other dea agent will die in the shootout with the **** gang because they are too outnumbered and in the middle of the desert. i think they ended it in the middle because the fight will go longer and they will have some good scene when something happens before they are shot. if both of them get shot then there wont be any dea that knows the truth.

i hope the **** gang gets it in the end tho because they are the worst and not even cool. just dumb and evil.

 

Hank and Marie never say "I love you" so that was a give away of bad things to happen.

1) I believe that Gomez is a goner but I'm not sure that Hank will die.

2) We know that Walt is coming back with the M60 which he purchased in S05E01 and I can see him using it only on Jack's clan. It's overkill for Hank or Jesse. So I'm thinking that Todd will die during the shootout, Jesse will be forced to take over the cook and in the last episode Walt will try to kill Jack and free Jesse.

 

That was absolutely a 9/11/01 "The plane hit the other building, but I'm OK" call.

If Hank survives it, I will be disappointed in Vince Gilligan.

Also, the first cold open of this half season had a future "Mr. Lambert" with a trunk full of weapons, breaking into his old house to get the ricin. I believe that will be used on Uncle Jack, his friends, and Lydia.

 

Yeah, I think the weapons (purchased beginning of season 5) are for Jack and the ricin for Lydia.

 

I still think there may be a storyline involving Marie and poison. I'm not sure if she's going to be on the receiving end or what, but I have a feeling that there was a reason why we finally saw her at her therapist talking about how she has been researching poisons.

 

i think he will use the ricin for himself. the big gun is to battle the ****s or the dea but the ricin takes too long to kill people so i dont think it is for someone else only himself.

 

I'm starting to get hopeful that good old Walt will be the only survivor in the end, that would be cool, everyone's dead, the money gone, but he's still there in the end.

A year or two back there was a scene where him and junior were watching scarface - I think that was a clue about how it ends.

 

I completely agree with all of this. The entire "I love you" phone call and everything surrounding it like him basking in his victory of finally busting "Heisenberg" was such a standard TV/film trope though which makes me wonder if there wasn't some misdirection going on there. Vince Gilligan and company don't typically use those types of tropes to foreshadow the obvious. So I wonder if we will see some sort of twist (e.g. Hank surviving) or if they decided to use that technique to help damper the blow for the viewer. Hank would be the first original main character and first family member to die.

It now does seem pretty clear the M60 is to fight the white supremacists. Originally I thought it might be for a shootout with the DEA but the show definitely hasn't gone in that direction. The ricin seems destined for Lydia in a lot of ways, mainly being that Walt was going to use it on her before but changed his mind when she brought up the business arrangement, and they keep focusing on her tea drinking so it feels like that may be the vehicle for it.

If you've watched interviews with Vince Gilligan one thing he has said is he would want Walt to face justice. However he also said that justice could come in many different ways. So what Merlin suggests could be seen as a form of justice. Walt is alone and a dying man after going through all that (at least initially) to leave a nest egg for his family and protect them.

And yeah I also agree that those Scarface scenes were some sort of symbolism of what was to come.

 

Scarface's last stand "say hello to my little friend" makes perfect sense for Walt.

The opening scene of S05E09 shows Walt getting the ricin out of his house which is vandalized, fenced off by the city and somebody sprayed Heisenberg on his living room wall. Who? The graffiti, fencing and his neighbour Carol being so scared off him indicate that he was outed and in the end Hank might be the most likely candidate for that. I can see Jesse for the graffiti but not for going public that Walt = Heisenberg = meth dealer.
