Managed to score a solo trip next weekend  and was thinking about checking out the Eastside Cannery. It appears that it is about an one hour bus ride from the strip over to it and was wondering if it's worth two hours of valuable time.

Anybody have any comments on the casino, and/or rooms since one of the reasons to go is to get on their radar?

    thanks.

I like the place, but it's not worth two hours of vacation to go there IMHO. If you do go, grab a Restaurant.com certificate for their steakhouse, Carve. I've had some good meals there. Make sure to go on a day they are open, closed Monday/Tuesday last I checked.

They just added some good VP and I've had fun at their BJ tables.

I've been to Eastside Cannery several times, sometimes walking from Sam's Town. It's a very nice place, but I don't think that ANY casino is worth 2 hours just to visit unless you want to take a break. (And taking a break is often a very good idea.) Be advised, unless you plan to spend only a few minutes there, it's going to take quite a bit longer than 2 hours. Another option is to take the Sam's Town shuttle from Harrah's; it's a lot faster than the 202 if it coincides with your schedule and you don't mind the additional walking to and through Harrah's. It's an additional 10 minute walk from Sam's to the Cannery if you cut through the parking/garage area from the shuttle stop without even going into Sam's. (It's too bad there isn't a back entrance to the RV Park, it would be a good shortcut instead of walking a couple blocks along Boulder Highway.) Have a great trip!

I like playing there. I wouldn't consider it worth a 2 hour bus ride. We rent a car it takes us about 20 minutes to drive (I think)

I don't have anything bad to say about the place, we all went in the middle of the afternoon last april, and one thing I can mention is you could have thrown 20 baseballs in there and not hit anyone. It was dead. I can imagine it picks up at night, but it was a nice place and to be honest, I kinda liked it dead like that. The craps dealers were just standing around, so I got an impromptu lesson on craps, and how to quickly lose $100, but I had fun.

Thanks for the tip, sounds like the shuttle is the way to go, no driving for me this trip.

I've been there many times and I have nothing bad to say about the place, but it isn't anything special either. Once you walk through the doors, you could be in any off-Strip casino. We used to go a lot for the locals giveaways.

I have taken the 202 from the strip to Eastgate cannery and I would estimate it takes 30 minutes one way. Also, I always enjoy BJ at Longhorn which is right across the street. They let you double down anytime with 2 cards or 3!

40 minutes is what the RTC estimates. The Sam's Shuttle saves time to Sam's, but it is a good walk then to the Eastside Cannery so I think it about a wash. Also the bus goes at most hours while the Sam's free shuttle has limited times. The 202 drops you right at the Eastside Cannery parking lot. If you are there late at night, it is the way to head back without walking a dark Boulder Highway. Also, you might like going to Sam's Town on the free shuttle, playing around there, then walking to The Eastside Cannery and taking the 202 back.

You can bus from downtown on the BHX. The HDX used to go to Sam's Town, but it does not anymore, so now instead of 16 minutes it takes more like 40 from downtown as well.
Ironically, the new HDX route goes from downtown to Fiesta Henderson in about a half hour. I'm going out there next time.

I like the Eastside Cannery. The rooms are very nice with lots of floor to ceiling glass. Off the rack rate you can get $10 if you are a senior. I've now seen the rooms advertised with discounters.
    Free wifi.
    A coin laundry

American Casino Guide has a coupon for a free buffet at Sam's Town with 200 earned points and some Longhorn coupons. At least you want to walk across the street and use the Longhorn matchplay.
If you have Bank of America, there is a drive in place right across the street that is a great access for money with no charge.

I like the poker room. Just limit poker and some NL tournaments but very friendly. Mostly locals. Lots of baseball talk.
I like the bank of full pay VP right near Marilyn's Lounge: 10/7 DB, and the best JOB in Vegas 9/6/90. It will be uncrowded.
Depending on the day there may be some good promotions for little play.
I lost about $300 there and have not gotten any offers, so I don't think it is an easy place to seed, at least with VP

The buffet is very basic, but I like it. It is not as limited as Silver Sevens or as good as Gold Coast, in between. It is cheap. Great cookies.

What I always go for is Claudine Castro in the Lounge Monday night from 10 to 2. Last trip Lady Fortuna went with me and we danced and had a fine time. But you have to want to be emersed in Latino music and language, this is a fine place to be. Beer is cheap too.

Here is my review of that adventure:

In the beginning the website promotion called Webpass was very generous. Then they tightened the belt and made it....well... ridiculous if you want room deals or freeplay.
But I still check in each day and gather the easy points for the central click, two places where I just click a key and one fill in the blank. I might want to use some of the offers. There are some good food discounts.
If you can print the vouchers before you go and get there within 7 days, the free buffet and the free gift hat are pretty decent freebies. Here is my negative review of that program.

The atmosphere is relaxed and uncrowded. It is not a party place. They offer some great music, but mostly I go for Claudine.

One plus about walking from Sam's to East Side, sometimes there are friendly ladies who wish to chat with you along the way...

Dewey....are you saying my endless days of earning Webpass credits for EC (over 200k points) are pretty much worthless?

I've noticed their little tricks - BS hotel "discount", free play that can't be redeemed prior to hours of playing...etc.

Guess I'll have to write that off. Maybe get a buffet.

It really depends on what you define as a deal. I posted on their Facebook page asking why the ONE night special price with 100,000 credits is more than what is on the website, or what can be scored on a discount site, or what they just give to seniors. Perhaps they will do better. The freeplay requires so much play that unless you are playing anyway, it seems pretty lame. And as you have read, the runaround for folks who are not local and set up with a printer is just nuts. They just don't get the electronic improvements.
Compare the MyVegas rewards for the games played. You can call to get your MLife card number. My wife signed up in 1998. With that number you can make show reservations. You know immediately if there are openings and if there are not, the Loyalty points are refunded within a day or so.
Nothing is refunded at Eastside Cannery.

I think the VP is great. I think the free buffet is fine. And I like the hats. So your 200.000 points can be whittled away over time. But I would not play any more games. Spend your time on the MyVegas where even with the inflation of prizes, the deals are really great and the redemption customer friendly.
    And complain to Eastside Cannery.

I usually go to E.C. at least once during my Vegas trips. Have always had a fun time there sitting at the bar playing vp. Locals provide some good conversation. Takes me about 15-20 minutes to drive from the strip.
