Sounds like the weekend to avoid. Its counterproductive to put a fight in the center of downtown if you're trying to steer away from the drunk/rowdy crowd. FSE really needs to make up its mind on which crowd it wants to attract..

This sounds like a terrible idea and now I can only imagine how the "downtown is getting more rowdy" thread will go after this.:rolleyes2:

This is stupid. You need arena style seating to watch fights and the bigger bands for that matter.

FSE does not accommodate the larger crowds very well. Thankfully I'll have my Sept fix in already.

Personally, I think this is a great idea. I hope it goes off well and they have more of these events in the future.

I will be there that weekend and am anxious to see how they stage this thing. How do they control the pedestrian traffic flowing around the temporarty seating/arena. Should be interesting.

I hope the downtown crowd has taken their heart medications! I read this the other day and envisioned many of them just keeling over at just the thought of such a "radical" idea!!!:poke:

Well this is just great news....NOT!! Dear wife and I will be there that weekend. Hopefully staying at Main Street Station will provide a little bit of a buffer zone. :grrr:

I am arriving on the night of the 20th and staying at The Cal. I have been in town on other crowd-gathering weekends (e.g. St Patrick's Day) and typically Main Street Station has been a buffer zone. While crowds gather under the canopy, there is almost always a free VP machine at the Boar's Head Bar waiting for you
