Heading to Mecca for my first Halloween trip. It well be me and my gf, were both 39 and holding, so no young clubs. We will be staying at Luxor, arriving Thurs the 24th and staying till Tuesday.

We want to hit a couple good Halloween parties, figure hit the DT one night. I know "things will be happening everywhere" but I want to hear some personal reviews of the likes and dislikes.

    Its busy.
Lots of drinking, lots of people in costumes.
Most of the clubs and bars on The Strip will have their parties on the 25th and 26th.
The clubs will usually have a celebrity host for their main party and will be expensive to get in because of that.
Most bars will have some kind of party going on where you'll have to buy tickets to get in. A few bars will have "sexiest costume" contests.
The nicer the property/resort then usually the nicer the costumes the people are wearing.
You can't wear face covering masks in the casino as part of your costume.

    I'm interested in halloween, too

We're there the Oct 26 - Nov 2. I figured that gives us the Sat night before and the Friday night after where stuff will be happening. We're both late 40s, so are likewise looking to avoid oontz-oontz parties.

Since we (and by we I mean she) like to dance, we hit I Love This Bar & Grill. Don't know that they're doing anything special for Halloween, but we'll be there more than once during the week. Looking for a little more variety in places that have live music/dancing. I've also been told that I will be wearing a costume at some point during the trip, so I suppose I need to find someplace to wear it.

I've searched for posts on specific experiences about Vegas Halloween activities, but haven't seen anything that blows my socks off, yet.

    Downtown will be happening.

We are booked at Golden Gate for Thursday and Friday night.

Funny that we are leaving Austin on Halloween though. Austin has a huge Halloween party on 6th street that night. Probably bigger than anything in Vegas.

Yeah, I'm sure there's plenty to do here in Houston. But it's not Vegas.

Other the Bellagio's Conservatory, the most festive Halloween decoration I've ever seen in Vegas is at the Fremont of all places! Several years ago, about the time they changed the carpet and redid the lobby area and bar, they also replaced the lights above the pit area with those orange "pumpkins." I witnessed the installation in early to mid-October and I truly thought they were going to a lot of trouble just to decorate for Halloween. I was mistaken, of course, as the change was permanent. Take a look if you haven't noticed.

thats funny. That would be a lot of trouble for Halloween! Yeah, I am expecting most of the decorations to be walking on two feet!

I agree - downtown would be my choice for the most Halloween "craziness," for lack of a better word. Then again, it's like Halloween down there most of the time, anyway!

However, we plan on being at Ellis Island that night, which is often a bit like Halloween, too. Ms. Gecko got her first and only royal at the bar on Halloween last year; and since we'll be at that end of town anyway, it only seems right to return to the "scene of the crime"!

We love Ellis Island, hit it at least once per trip. We have decided to arrive Thurs the 24 and spend the first 3 nights at Luxor. We will then check out Sun morn and stay the last two nights at Rio. We plan on hitting the DT Sun night, and maybe Sat as well. Ms. CAPT is a huge Halloween fan and very much looking forward to the trip!

I've been to Vegas twice on Halloween. The first time I was unprepared and didn't have a costume. I felt like I was missing out on the fun. The second time I made sure to wear a costume (it was a jailhouse outfit with a sign on the back reading "Corporate Executive" - this was around the time of Enron and other fraud scandals - some people took offense to it, I guess some of them may have been wearing a real jailhouse outfit eventually)

I don't recall whether we went to any nightclubs or Halloween parties, but I remember that it was fun just walking through the casinos and along the strip with everyone in costumes.

I particulary enjoyed all of the scantily clad women in the devils and angels :noangel: outfits.

FYI - saw that the folks on "BlondeForever" board are having several "Halloween" activities during that time. You may want to check their schedule to join the fun they always seem to have. Seems like a very nice group of Vegas addicts... lol :):)

You know how girls like to dress up slutty in Vegas? Well, take that and multiply it by 100x on Halloween. Many of them are basically just wearing lingerie. It's pretty amusing people watching (even for a girl)
