Well this seems to be a smarter move than many of their past promotions. Wonder if they will match a Boyd BConnected Sapphire to a Queen or King Tier?

Ohhh... and it says it is for new members only. Next time I am their I will go moan and whine to see if they will match existing card holders. I encourage others to do the same. :bang:

what incentive would they have to match existing card holders? that's like saying, go play at our competitors and lose all your money there and then come back and we'll hook you up. makes no sense. the only reason for doing it in the first place is to get new business.

Makes lots of sense. You KNOW this person plays at a certain level and you want them to come spend time and money at your casino. The actual perks that come with a card are minimal. Real costs only come with play.

In theory. But in practice these people are more likely to mooch off the perks and still gamble where they always have.

Oh goodie... I will not be there until January to see if I can [STRIKE]mooch[/STRIKE]...err qualify.

So I guess I can still moan and whine. In fact I think I will really enjoy myself and make it a drunken moan and whine session! :woohoo:

Shlomo and Poju's Tamares Group really doesn't care whether or not you play at the Plaza. The four properties were bought in a distressed sale several years ago for $50M, $30M of which were recouped when Gold Spike and The Western were sold.

The Tamares Groups business is real estate. Tamares is not licensed to operate casinos in Nevada (they lease the casino management to another firm) and will eventually flip The Plaza and LVC when they can find a buyer.

Their Las Vegas run is similar to what you would find on a bad "reality" TV show about Vegas house flippers, except they flip casinos. They are like Phil Ruffin, well Ruffin sans a gaming license, prime land location and the good fortune to sell, not buy, at the top of the market.

A players club cannot get players to play poor machines when there are better alternatives literally steps away down Fremont or Main Street. They stripped any playable VP months ago and slot players earn better comps elsewhere.

Hopefully in a few more years, the Tamares group will flip their remaining holdings to casino operators with the capital and knowledge to turn around potential properties with the proper management.

They matched a Harrah's Seven Star Player to Ace Level and he won 20K VP jackpot the first day. Thus they gave him an additional 20K free-play, 100% Ace Bonus. This is shown on the Royal Rewards Facebook page.

Well the first thing I did before checking in was go to the players club. I showed them my TR Diamond card and they issued me a Kings level card (j,q,k,a), and I'm an existing Plaza players member. I also got entry into a slot tourney. At check in I asked about jr. suite upgrades for kings(they advertise that in their club guide). They didn't believe I was a king until i presented my card (guess they don't get too many), and sure enough, I got a 19th floor jr. suite dead center over the fremont street Exp. in the original tower.

Interesting that they match TR Diamond to King and MLife Platinum to Ace.

I might have to check them out while I'm there in September. The 100% match on slot wins is pretty exceptional.

If I understand this correctly, they don't match slot wins 100%. In fact they don't match anything on slots, it's only if you hit a Royal on VP that they'll match 50% for King and 100% for Ace. Can anyone clarify this?

Sorry to be off topic but instead of starting a new one I would simply ask you Vegas vets, if I have Platinum at TR, would they consider upgrading it to something similar at Cosmo.

I guess this is because Mlife pearl/gold/platinum/noir are four levels.

Total Rewards Platinum/Diamond/Seven Star's are three levels.

I would guess that is has to do with the fact that it does take slightly more coin-in to reach Platinum at Mlife than Diamond at CET, and probably more importantly, with the TC bonus that CET has now, it takes significantly less coin in to get Diamond if you focus your play into the right amount of gaming days.

Not only that, but if you take into account the specialty game penalty that MGM has in place it makes that discrepancy even more. In short, the upper levels of MGM are much more indicative of your level of play than CET.

Of course the big caveat on all of this is the generous TC rewards for resort spend MGM gives out that would be the exception, although someone who has gotten the upper tiers of Mlife predominately by resort spend probably doesn't ever want to stay or even go DT, let alone care about getting a tier matched by a casino down there where the main attractive benefits are gambling related.

If the Plaza is getting Seven Star's players, who knows what other type of players will come in for the upgrade. The tier, VP Royal Bonus on King 50%/Ace 100% is a big deal to those who play VP!!!

Yeah I'm not sure what kind of paytables Plaza has (I'm guessing pretty poor) but essentially doubling the payout on all royals has to really help the EV.

Am I reading this correctly...my Platinum Milf card will get me an Ace card....which will get me a 100% match on a royal...?

Gotta love the fact that my Milf tier level is only worth something at other casinos! :rolleyes2:

Seriously though, is there anything remotely playable at The Plaza? I'm more than willing to do a little mooching (provided I don't get murdered walking through [STRIKE]Mogadishu[/STRIKE] Downtown LV:poke:).
