To link or not to link player cards

Hello vmb,

Getting ready for another trip in 3 weeks. Was curious how the calculations for adt/theo is calculated for linked accounts. I'm a 50-75 pg, pgt, and bac player. My gf is penny slot player.

I'm mlife gold and shes is pearl.
I'm plat cet and she's gold.

I currently get ok offers from mlife and cet rooms anytime pretty much anywhere. Mlife usually like 175 fp and 100 resort credit. Cet rooms anywhere no fp or food. We like to wander and usually hit many casinos. She gets onlydiscounted room offers but nothing comped. If we where to link accounts would the offers be better? Or Would the offers get worst cause they are linked?

Any thoughts or comments are much appreciated.

Total Rewards doesn't link cards anymore... but you can use her card number as a "companion" when checking for rates online.

With MLife if you always travel together there doesn't seem to be any reason not to link cards. Linking would allow her to access the pooled Express Comps and if both your play is high for your levels it might put you closer to Platinum.

 

My host at Bellagio told me that when you link your cards, your average bet is averaged together so if there's a big difference in average bet between the two linked accounts, it's better to unlink it.

 

While this might be true, MGM casinos don't pay any attention at all to average bet when determining certain offers, or especially when a host looks at your play to comp something - it's all about theo/loss. With the theo/loss still being calculated at the individual level, and then added together at the end, it makes sense to link the cards together.

 

The wife and I have never linked. We just play on each others cards. Example, we play on mine with CET & MGM and hers at TI or Wynn.

This way we look like 1 better player than the average of 2. We stay in the same room and eat together anyway. So one person getting the better comp, and tier status, works out better for us. Outside of who gets the free play we have never had a problem.

It was mindless for us to both have OK offers in Vegas. Like she would get 3 nights comped and so would I. But we only need 1 room for the trip. Now that we stack only one of us gets those 3 nights, but now its in a suite.

 

If you are playing with your wife at the same table and your average bet is averaged out, it necessarily affects your theo/loss.

 

Not really because unless you use the same card, the dealer will not care (and should not care) that you are linked and rate you each separately for the session, therefore ending up adding both theos together. If you use the same card for 2 spots then yes they will average out, but I am not sure if you are allowed to do this anyways.

 

Believe what you want. All I'm saying is that that's what I've been told by my host. So if you play $1000 a hand for 12 hours and your wife plays $100 a hand for 24 hours you'll get the benefit of the extra hours but your "average" (the average that the host goes by) will be less than $1000 a hand. Maybe different hosts go by different things I'm just saying there's a possibility that average bets are averaged out when you have linked accounts.

 

My wife is linked to my Mlife. She plays less than $20 in a week long stay. I play way more and get offers to match. We do slots and VP.

 

I don't think MLife will link your accounts unless you live at the same address.

 

If what that host said is true, they combine and split theo. So if I bet 500 and wife 50 she would get same offers as me and her own host.. not happened yet

 

My general impression of what hosts tell you about their systems, theo, offers, etc is general about as valuable as those folks that come here with way to beat roulette.

Meaning... it might sound good, but once you analyze it, well....

Corporate offers are completely different from what the host looks at and can do for you though. I don't know. My host told me that he often recommend his clients to unlink accounts.
