Just found this board and have been reading the trip reports for a few weeks.

I have a trip booked for me & wife’s 25th anniversary, staying at Hotel32. We stayed at the Riviera on our honeymoon. We have been back 4-5 times over the years and things have sure changed.

We have a few things planned, we will be going downtown for a day (didn’t get down there last trip 2 years ago). Ellis Island is a must this time, I want to go try some micro brews (never been to this place before).

We tend to enjoy the smaller and/or older casinos, we just seem to have better luck while gambling. Last trip stayed at the Aria and loved the room but played very little in the casino, most of our play was at O’Shay’s (will be missed) and Harrah’s. We will branch out a little more on this trip.

Will be there September 22nd thru 25th

Plan on finding a couple of "off the beaten path" places to sit and have a beer and people watch. Suggestions are welcome.

Hi Tex, welcome to the board. Sounds like you have a great trip planned. Make sure and ask about the steak special when you are at Ellis Island, it's cheap and good!

Welcome...I'm an ex-Houstonian, now living in far-less humid Ft. Worth... (say, did the Gulf Freeway construction ever get completed? :poke: )
    Micro-brews did you say?
You need to go to Main Street Station (MSS) downtown...

Smaller and/or older casinos did you say?
Again - you will love downtown... gotta hit the El Cortez, the Cal, the Fremont, 4-Queens & Golden Gate. They all fit both criteria & I think you'll enjoy them. Besides, all of the downtown casinos are within a 10 minute walk...so, one afternoon/evening ought to give you plenty of time!
    Have fun!
PS - Hotel32? Personally, I would suggest staying at any of the properies I just listed... it likely will be less expensive & you'll be right there! Just a suggestion.

If Ellis Island is up your alley, be sure to stop at Stage Door for the cheapest drinks near the strip.
