Planning another trip to vegas in the fall. Have been several times stayed at Monte Carlo and Mandelay Bay would like to stay on the other side of the street for this visit. Since I have never stayed on that side. Can anybody give me some feedback on Planet Hollywood like the location but may go back to the other side and stay at New York New York.

I like PH and I prefer that section of the strip, despite my upcoming booking.

I have stayed at both, I typically prefer PH because of the location and ease to get north or south. At the time when I stayed at NYNY I was travelling North alot and it was a bit of a hassle.

As I have visited the city more often, I tend to stay put more now, so I would honestly be a toss up. The rooms were about the same, the pools are def different, PH more of a loud wanna be party atmosphere, NYNY much more quiet and relaxing, though mostly shaded.

I would look at the other things you want to do and see what is closest and then check price and see if that makes a difference. FWIW CET is much kinder to slot players, so that would favor PH.

Another vote for PH. Better food and location. They have daily $70 poker tournaments with $1k guarantee for 1st place that I like. The only thing I don't like is the 'party pit'... pretty girls dancing around is not a good excuse for 6/5 Blackjack!

PH all the way. I cannot think of an area where NY NY could compare, that includes steak houses.

    NYNY needs refreshened

I have never stayed at PH but have stayed at NYNY many times. My feeling is that NYNY needs to refresh their rooms. They are getting pretty worn and dated. They do have one of the BEST steakhouses, Gallagher's. We always eat at least one meal there. They have a nice restaurant called AMERICA. It serves standard American food. We eat breakfast there. There are several good places to get a quick bite to eat if you are pressed for time. The vibe is pretty decent with the dueling pianos at night and the streets of New York to walk around. Get down and kiss the ground if the escalators are working while you are there. Don't worry, you won't have to worry about smooching the floor as they most likely will not be functioning. There's a very small amount of 'ok' shopping at NYNY. We had a horrible experience at 'The Nine Fine Irishmen'. I would definitely stay away. 'Il Fornio' is a good italian restaurant. We never use the pool but I have seen it and it looks standard. One nice thing we like with NYNY is that you don't have to walk a million miles to get to your room. NYNY is fairly central to a lot neat things (Coca Cola Store, M&M Store, La Salsa) but PH would put you down closer to more action. Enjoy wherever you choose!!

PH if you are into the party scene, NYNY if not.

PH will also get you down the strip further and since you usually stay at MB and MC, PH will be nice new scenery

PH rooms are nicer than NY by far IMHO

    I really like both.
    • The rooms at PH seem better especially the bathroom.
    • Overall I like the games better at NYNY.
    • Both provide fast easy access to the rooms.
    • NYNY has more options and variety of food, but then so does PH if you count the mall. (You can't charge PH mall food to the room. So it can not be comped.)
    • Hard to beat PH when it comes to location.

The HO all the way, also, there's some construction going on at Monte Carlo/NYNY.
Having said this, if Planet Hollywood was in the location of Monte Carlo/NYNY, i would pick the HO again. The location of Planet Hollywood and NYNY is so minute, it's ridiculous. The "Strip", the most places visitors frequent/stay, is between Wynn/Fashion Show Mall and Mandalay Bay. The HO and NYNY are separated by two streets..........Harmon and Rue De Monte Carlo. Unless you plan on spending your entire vacation time at ONE property, it's a non issue.
This isn't LA, where you need to drive a car to the mailbox..........it's the Strip, an expensive piece of land in an area that most people can walk to let alone taking the Tram, Bus, Pedicab, whatever.
In the old days (1978), walking from the Hacienda up to Desert Inn/Frontier, etc. was the same distance......but boring.........it's no longer that, and hasn't been that since Wynn took over. So lets all put this into perspective.......you can see Planet Hollywood and NYNY from your room windows.

PH is the best location on the strip in my opinion. Not my favorite place to stay, but the location is the by far the best. I've stayed there 3x in the past year or so. You can walk right across the bridge to Cosmo, and then over to Aria/Crystals right to the Bellagio fountains, over to Paris to eat at their great restaurants. Also there is a million things to do at PH.. so much to see.

The rooms there are very average. Could use a little refresh but they are clean and nice. I've never stayed at NY NY but I don't really have any desire unless it's an outrageous deal. BUT, I do prefer MGM properties by far.. I would say PH is nicer though.

Is it just me or has anyone gone to PH lately and seen the crowd has gotten extremely ghetto? Some guy threatened me while I was walking on the casino floor on a sat night because he said I was looking at him the wrong way. I went back again thinking it was just a fluke but it was the same. I do not feel safe in PH.

My vote would absolutely be for NYNY, not only cause of safety issues at PH, but because I love the NYNY personally.

I stayed there last Sunday through Thursday and had zero safety concerns. It is a bit louder and livelier than my usual Vegas homes (Bally's/Paris), but I enjoyed it. I can't speak to what it's like on weekends.

I agree with others, PH mainly because of the location.

Unlike NYNY, where there's, you know, actual gunfire. (OK, so it was a few years ago, but still...)

    +1 for Planet Hollywood!

I like the casino (also never had any safety concerns), the rooms (nothing special, but clean and good with a great bathroom. Maybe try to get an upgrade to a Fountain View Room) and, above all, the location! And, of course, the Earl of Sandwich :)

Since your location lists NYC then you should know looking at people and making eye contact is a no no. :peace:

I just can't consider it a benefit anymore because I never walk by without there being a line out to the mall area.

I just am not waiting 15-20 minutes for a sandwich

I take it you disagree? I was just at PH a couple weeks ago, definitely a good mix of people, but I wouldn't call it ghetto at all.

Re-read my comment, i was calling out naturaleight. I love the Planet and will be there in 10 days. Calling the property ghetto should not be welcomed in here. We all know what the naturaleight meant.
