Who has TMobile for their cell carrier? They say I can have 4 phones with unlimited everything (data, text, talk) for $100 a month plus tax. Is this for real? I pay 4x that for ATT! (this is with using our own phones, not getting new ones).

My mom says there must be some catch, that I shouldn't change....but she's not the one paying a $400/month cell phone bill. I spent an hour on the phone with them the other night and I grilled them to see if there was anything hidden in that offer but they said no, that was it.

I just can't afford ATT anymore...it's been 5 years and I'm done paying more for phones than I pay on my car!

    Help?

Yea, we have tmobile family plan. It's about 107 a month for two phones and then you can get two extra for no extra charge. That is without data plans on the extra phones. We text for most everything nowadays.

The tampabay area is not bad for tmobile service and when we had At&t it was terrible. Also At&t would send you a bill 2 months later citing that you had roaming charges. Really, I don't leave the metro area?

Also, tmobile works well on the strip. :)

EDIT- its a shared plan so if you have a heavy user they will eat up all the plans minutes....

Of course there is a catch.

    Phone work 2 ways.

1- you pay out of pocket for the phone and then pay for monthly service. The service is usually cheaper because the phone is already paid for

2- you get a "free" or reduced price phone and sign a contract, you are committed to pay over 2 years and the cost of the phone is spooled into the price. Thats why the "service" seems more expensive, you are paying for the ohone.

Why would a company give away hundreds of dollars of merchandise for free? The answer is they wouldnt.

I have 4 phones with ATT. Does T-Mobile carry Iphones? That's a make it or break it deal for us.

C0usineddie...they said if we brought over our own phones that we already have thru ATT then all we pay for is the monthly service, which is the rate in my original post. We all have iPhone 4s so we would just bring those over and not need new phones from them. They did tell me about the payments they charge on the phones if you get one thru them. As long as AT&T releases the phone after we pay our fees (which they said they would and even at that, we end up saving in the long run) that their SIM card will work with our phones.

I still thought $100/mth for all 4 was too good to be real.

And yes, they have iPhone 5s but won't give you an iPhone 4 because he said they were "phasing them out", Sarah do u pay such a high bill every month too?

We pay about $180 a month for our 4 phones. Only 2 of those are Iphones but both of those Iphones were in with ATT while they still did the unlimited data plan. Now they seem to be limiting it if I wanted to add another phone. I would be interested in knowing how things work out if you do it. Seems a really good deal. I do get a small discount through the school district with ATT that I wouldn't get with T-Mobil.

Can you get this in writing somehow?

This should be on the T Mobile website if it's a legit offer I would think ? Is this thru T Mobile or a franchise guy? I've had them for years now,and the only problems I've had were thru their franchise dealer who recently went out of business.

Probably is some traction to this "great" T-Mobile deal. Unlike the other carriers of Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile stops the phone subsidy once the phone is paid off. All the other keep charging you. Which is why I immediately upgrade to a new phone after the 2-yr contract is up. If I'm subsidizing a phone, I better have a phone to subsidize.

I personally like T-Mobile too but their service reception is terrible from my condo, a deal breaker for me

If you have it in your area you should look into Cricket. They offer the best price hands down. Unlimited Talk, Text, Web and Music for $55 a month, no contract and no catch, no hidden fees. You have to buy the phone and they offer all of the latest smart phones. For basic phones (no data) their plans start at $30 a month unlimited everything.

T-mobile does offer iphones. Just note hat if you have an iphone with at&t (one you purhased thru at&t) that it may be locked to at&t.

We had at&t service and got an iphone thru them. We decided to switch to t-mobile due to the significant savings in our bill. I had to jailbreak the iphone to avoid buying another one because at&t would not inlock it. The phone continued to work fine but there are minor things that it wouldl not do when you jailbreak, such as the ability to send photos in text messages.

With t-mobile you have to buy your phones at full price (ouch on the iphone!) Or go somewhere like eBay, etc. but there are no contracts with t-mobile.

umm yah everyone knows that and its been that way forever so that isn't the catch.the catch is you still keep paying that monthly rate after the phone is paid off where tmobile will reduce your rate if you call after its paid off. thats common sense but others dont do that because they know people think the way you think and think that it is normal to keep paying for the phone forever. thats how they take advantage of people who dont know better.

There is a slight catch -- your credit score. If you go on the website they have all these phones with $0 due at the time you order service etc... but it is dependent upon your credit score. We qualified for 4 lines and no deposit for service but only qualified for some of the "cheaper" smart phones without having to put a big chunk of change down...and our credit is on the better end of the spectrum.

We haven't taken the plunge yet, we still have 4 phones with ATT and our contracts don't end until 2014. If we pay our termination fees it comes to around $1000 to be able to take our phones, unlocked to T-Mobile (to get the best possible deal). We might do them one at a time, as our contracts expire.

I'm in the smart phone business and I use T-Mobile. I use them for a couple of reasons:

    1) In my market (Houston) the 4G LTE service is great... it is great in Vegas too.

    2) I usually have the latest greatest phone... I will go through 3 or 4 phones a year. With T-mobile it is not an issue. Verizon and At&T are pissy about it and their rates have an implied lease component.

Note: I buy and sell phones all the time so the cost to keep the latest greatest is minimal to me. This year I have had Iphone 4S, Galaxy III, Iphone 5, and am going to a Sony Xperia Z soon.

That said, T-Mobile is generally cheaper in almost all cases... just make sure that you have acceptable service in your area.

i have virgin. i bought the phone at walmart. an htc one v. Of course i paid full price for it, about $150 plus you can pay about $14 more for 2 years of insurance which even covers water damage, way better then what virgin offers.

Then you sign up for the virgin service. I dont make many calls so i got 350 phone minutes per month plus unlimted text and data for $35 per month. No contract or bs, the payment comes out of the card i set up with them every month. I think it was about $50 per month for unlimited everything but i dont make 350 minutes of calls per year much less per month so i dont need that much.

If I want to stop using it, i just dont pay it and we are done.

we had T-mobile before moving to our current house (about 10 years ago) where there was a dead zone, so we had to pay $600 to get out of our contracts at that time and switch to AT&T. Because of how this was handled I hated T-Mobile until I worked with some dudes from there who always talked about wanting to bang that pink chick. That improved my impression of T-Mobile. :evillaugh

We have AT&T with 2 smartphones with unlimited data (legacy plan) and 2 smartphones with blocked data (for the kids---they can text but only can use wifi for data functions). Everyone is on 2 year contracts with the kids staggered so every year we get a new phone for free and give them our old phone. We pay about $230/month with a 23% national plan discount, but its about $250 during my Vegas trips due to various "international texting" charges with Macker and Gaggles.

I am what I like to call a "2 percenter" having never used an android or iphone and having exclusively used windows phones since the HTC 8125 in 2006. I just upgraded to the HTC 8X and it is literally the best thing I've ever owned (as was every phone before it). My wife uses the latest Nokia Lumia.

AT&T does seem to suck a bag of dicks, but I stick with them due to the legacy unlimited data, a huge advantage for someone into heavy Slingbox usage.

Tell me about the blocked data? My son was using up his 3GB (or whatever its called) of data as if money just appeared miraculously in my wallet....overage charges galore.....when I asked about blocking his data I was told that it is not possible but to upgrade to 5GB and monitor usage.

After a long and heated conversation with my teen about it and threats of taking the phone away completely, it has gotten better but if I could've just blocked it after 3 to begin with It would've saved me a lot of grief...and money!

I can't rationalize paying more for our phones than we pay for our highest car payment anymore. I feel like I'm getting bent over every month by ATT when I log in and pay... Grrrr

Having carried the old original windows ce and palm phones. Then moving to blackberry for two years. Switched iPhone for awhile, and now on pure android with google nexus phone, I can't imagine anything better.

Hate to say it, but Balmer is going to run Microsoft down the crapper. Friend of my works for MS and with the real alignment of company is rethinking their focus on certain market areas. You might see MS yield the cellphone market to focus on tablets after the RT debacle. Enjoy that windows phone while you can, unless MS picks up Blackberry (RIM) at a fire sale.
