My best friend always gets invited to slot tourneys and when we go together the host lets me play also. He just got an invite but wont be able to go out and I am already heading out that weekend anyway. If I call solo, do you think there is a chance they let me play?

Maybe... not giving it much hope.

So, how much have you both won in these tournaments?

Most I have won is $1000 in free play. After the first $1000 I was about even playing VP and then dumped it into a $10 slot. I look at it as free money. I have also played at Bellaggio and they have had some nice spreads.

Are you staying at Mandalay? If you're staying there and have a history with that hotel, it is likely you can get the slot tourney offer. The MLife hotels (I have no experience with any CET hotels) consider a slot tourney to be a comp of sorts. And, I've yet to play in any slot tourney where you didn't need to be registered at that hotel. We did double book once for a Wynn and a Mirage slot tourney and played in both, but again, we were registered at both hotels.

If you're not staying there, unlikely they are going to let you play. JMHO

Good luck and hope it works out for you.

it's possible. you can't really ride the coattails of someone else into these types of tournaments (I've tried and failed to get my wife into tournaments just to have another chance to win something), so you likely qualified on your own anyway. I would call the host and ask, but of course you have to stay there.

Thanks guys, I am staying there for the entire week so that part is taken care of.

I am surprised Shifter. I usually go out with 2 guys, one plays a lot of slots and the other gambles a lot but doesnt play slots and they have hooked me up for 3 tourneys. I am usually budget $500-$600/trip to lose at slots but I dont play much at all.

I dont have a host, you think I can just call Mlife desk?

I'll be at MB with my friend for the upcoming slot tournament starting July 18. Does anybody know what time it starts? Do they let you know right away if you are in the next round? If you play but don't make it to the next round, do you still get to go to the announcement dinner?

Mostly concerned about the dinner part as our flight leaves at 11:30 pm - wondering what time it usually starts, etc since I like to factor in the three hours allowed for going through security, etc.

    Thanks for any help!

I've never played in a slot tourney at MB, but I can tell you about the ones at Aria and Wynn.....may or may not be the same.

Usually, the slot tourney consists of 3 rounds of play and lately it seems they are all on Saturday. Friday is usually the "pick your machine numbers" and slot tourney times and pick up your free gift. Although more and more, it seems your tourney time has already been decided. They are 3 rounds on Saturday and you play in all 3 rounds.

At Wynn in April, it was play all 3 rounds (10 mins per round) and the 3 rounds were back to back. Unless your offer explicitly says there is a dinner, I would be very surprised if you have a sit down dinner. Usually, it's gather in the ballroom where you played and they have cocktails and maybe some hors de ouvres, but that's it. The casinos have really cut back on the dinner after a slot tourney.

There is usually a food offering during the tournament rounds as well as open bar.

The announcement of winners/free play is anywhere between 5 and 6 pm, so you should have plenty of time to make the 11:30 pm flight. Keep in mind, if you win a large amount of free play, you will need to play it before you get on the flight. Wynn and Aria will tell you that the free play expires 3 days after you win it. Not a problem to play off a large amount (say $5K or so) in a couple of hours if you play larger denomination vp or slots.

Read your slot tourney offering--the information should be there except for the explicit times that you will play.

Good luck and hope you get your picture taken with a big check.

Last slot tourney at MB could have been better, it was a roped off area of the casino as opposed to the private room at Bellaggio. I still enjoyed it, it gives me an excuse to be in the casino more often. :)

What slot tourney is it? I've played in a lot of the ones at MB. The dinners afterwards is pretty cool. The dinner is for everyone that played in the tourney and 1 guest.
