Does anyone know of a property that still has these in the casino? I know similar machines are found in arcades, but those return tickets, not money. I believe Sahara had these several years back...they used dollar coins.

Last I'd heard was that either Circus Circus or Slots A Fun still had it.

Otherwise haven't seen it in one of the big resorts on The Strip or even Downtown in a long time.

You probably mean 'Flip-It', like they used to have at the Stardust.

The only place I've seen them lately is a local Dave And Busters.

I remember a long time ago that arcades uses to have those coin pushers. It was great when you were down to your last few quarters and willing to take a gamble.

Last I heard they were now illegal in the state of Nevada unless coins were redeemed for prizes. IE tickets or tokens like in an arcade. Every casino had some of these when I 1st started going in the late 90's. I used to stand by the one at MGM and wait for gravity to just drop some coins on their own before being told to scurry off by security.

I actually went to Circus Circus a couple years ago since I too heard the rumor they still had one and was told by a slot attendant that they weren't allowed any more.

If anyone can actually prove this to be false and they have seen these things around in Las Vegas recently please post, I'd love to play them again. They last ones I have seen for actual money were in Wisconsin at some gas station. But even that was tucked away by the shitters as if it was being hid.

I was on a Royal Caribbean cruise last summer and they had it.

Lemme guess, the rocking of the boat caused some coins to fall occasionally, right? :)

All cruise ships have these machines in their casinos it seems. Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Princess, Norwegian...

I see them in random gas stations in the middle of nowhere.

Very illegal in NC, but that doesn't stop them.

I can't see why they'd be illegal in Nevada, but practically speaking, they usually used the $1 metal coins and most casinos don't even use those anymore. (Just plastic/clay $1 chips at tables, all the slots are TITO). That might have more to do with them disappearing than anything.

The last one I saw was at Slots-A-Fun (How come it isn't Slots-O-Fun??), but that was 5 years ago.

This was absolutely the first gambling device I ever tried when on my honeymoon in Aruba.

I would think since a skilled player or advantage player might have a slight edge by playing these things. IE when the coins are close to the edge or if they knew how to spin a coin, I don't know. But I know those types of games are illegal gambling devices.

I remember reading about this when the new skee-ball slot was waiting for gaming commission approval. Since a skilled player would get a leg up on the casino. Ballys had to prove it was "perceived" skill in the game play area. Which they did obviously.

They don't disallow skill in Video Poker. Do you have a cite for these coin pushers being illegal? I'm not sure I'd take the word of some slot attendant.

I just got back from Vegas and Circus Circus has a row of about 12 dollar machines that are still using the dollar coins. They were completely taken over by older female that were playing 2 or 3 machines at a time. I did not see any coin pushers though.

knowledge (IE what cards to hold for the best payout) is not skill. This is why you can use the black jack cheat cards at a table. But no i do not have anything in print, I'm just a fan of them as well so I asked around before.

There is no skill to the "Flip-It" game. The house wouldn't care about an "advantage player" if there could be such a thing.

The house's edge in the game is well hidden. It's the area on the very edges of the surface. Coins that collect along the edges are never pushed out and represent the house's profit for the game. The more coins that are pushed, pile up, or spill over to the side, the bigger their take. No amount of player "skill" can alter that.

I used to love those at the local arcade when I growing up. Have not done one in years.

The "skill" comes from playing when the machine is in a good position to spill coins and quitting when it's not. Similar to playing a slot machine with a must pay by $500 progressive currently sitting at $497.

Here is a good article about the game:

I highly doubt they are now illegal in Nevada as well. More likely as units get broke down, they aren't bothered to be fixed, and just taken off the floor instead.

Circus Circus did have them last August. A bank of about 10 and they were totally full most of the time. Saw a few people hit $250 in quarters!

If they had 10 in August, then I would be shocked if they were gone now. I walked through Circus Circus forever it seemed in December, didn't see them. However, I wasn't looking for them either.
