    My Trip Report

    hello all,

my birthday is today and flying out tonight for 6 nights.

staying at the d for fri and sat and bally`s for the remaining 4 nights.

my wife passed away in january so I am a bit nervous about the solo thing but hoping for the best.

rented a car for some diversion like off strip casinos, pinball hall of fame etc.

I am sure there will be other people to chat with and maybe share a bite or drink with if I make the effort.

bally`s has a pretty decent pool and those frozen drinks will be pretty tasty in this heat.

    thanks chess and good point.

wife and I have been to vegas many times and play mostly slots and video poker.

never go overboard on the gambling but something to watch going solo I guess.

Sorry to hear about your wife. Having spent all of my vegas trips with my wife, I can imagine you are taking a brave plunge to go solo. For me it would probably be one of the places I could find peace. I hope your trip goes great! I'm looking forward to the TR.

I am flying out solo on Sunday - Wednesday. If you are bored I will be on strip and good to go for a drink or meal. Send me a PM and I will buy you a drink or three.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you have a good trip, and are able to enjoy Vegas in a new way. We will be at Bally's tomorrow thru Wed, who knows maybe we'll see one another at the bar. Look for 2 middle aged folks with a pretty blonde young woman, that'll be us!

You might be travelling solo, but you're never truly alone under these circumstances. She will always be with you. It's just that you will discover a new pace and will find out your level of interest in engaging other travelers in conversation. In Vegas, you can take advantage of the sensory overload or focus in on small things that your memories find comfort in. Of course, the offers from others on this board are genuine, I'm sure. So, there's always company to be found there, if you need companionship.

Have fun and let us hear from you.

I believe some of the above posters are absolutely correct in that your wife would want you to be happy and get back out to where ur happy, and that place just happens to be Vegas. It will be good to have a car so you can get away to outlying things. I would recommend Red Rock canyon for some quiet time if memories of your wife get a little heavy (at least that would be where I'd go ). ...

want to thank you all for your support and kind thoughts,

got home friday and things went ok.
a lot less pool time than I thought I would do,just too hot.
never really ate at any places worth mentioning this time it just didn`t seem right yet being alone.

next trip I will keep it to 3-4 nights max as after that it was getting a bit too
much for me.so easy to say that and every time still go too long but without wife the shorter visits will be better at least for now.

the d was great for friday and saturday nights. a lot of the crowd seemed pretty sketchy but it was a lively place for sure.

the room at bally`s was nice sun-thurs but the resort fee was almost same price as the room.

got thru the hour long chech in line at 12:30and was told it was $25 for early checkin or if I wait till 1 it would be $15! I waited till 3 as that just pissed me off. I have decided that from now on I will be staying on fremont and just go to the strip when I feel inclined to do so.

I play mainly slots and the 2 days downtown were ok with a few decent wins here and there and when I got to bally`s that came to a screeching halt.

I realize that odds are you are going to lose on slots but when you get no fun at all out of them it gets tiring . that went for all the harrah`s places I visited..

I had a car so I visited southpoint during the day and enjoyed that again
silver sevens on flamingo road had a great bacon and egg breakfast for $2.99
as usual pop up pizza at plaza was excellent.
