Ok so I need some help, Im planning a budget trip to Vegas in mid December for a late anniversary trip as the airfare is fairly good. Although Im having a hard time picking a resort.

This will be our second trip, we stayed at Monte Carlo just this past January. We liked it but didn't love it. Would love a better casino, and something further down the strip. Budget is a big part of where we stay, want something at the lower end of the scale, not to picky on rooms or view. Also we're mid 20's, drinkers and poker players.

I have looked at Treasure Island, Ballys, Harrahs, and Flamingo. Which would you choose or suggest a different one?

    Any help would be awesome.

Hmmm, for your age, I think I would say Flamingo. It's a fun place, they have the Margaritaville casino attached, a good food court for late night munching at a decent price. It's an excellent location. Just make sure you don't book the lowest tier room, I hear they aren't that great. I think the Go or Fab rooms would be better.

I would agree. Flamingo is the best place to stay out of those 4. I always thought the Flamingo gives great value for what your playing for. It's in a great location too with Paris, Caesars, and Bellagio close by.

Couple of ideas. Since budget is in play have you looked at Southwest's vacation packages? Actually got Aria at a great rate MDW 2011 and Planet Hollywood Oct 2011 that I couldn't beat if I did flight and room separately on their websites.

Down the strip costs more money. Personally I would look at Planet Hollywood which isn't further down the strip but much more attractive and reasonbaly priced based on totalrewards.com. If you have a Total Rewards card rates are even lower. Great vibe and casino.

Our group stayed at Harrah's Oct. 2012 (we did the flight/rom reservations separately) and going back next week (we did flight/room reservations separate since room was comped 4 of the 6 nights we're staying) and since our group does a ton of clubs and pools during the annual summer trip the rooms are exactly what we need. Personally no use in upgrading unless you do the suite since the difference in the sizes of the other rooms is minimal and the strip view rooms is not truly strip view when compared to the upper end hotels on the strip.

I agree with the Planet Hollywood choice if it's within your price range. After the rodeo leaves, room prices are the cheapest offered all year at most resorts. I disagree about the Flamingo due to the fact its main drawing card, the pool, is not a factor in mid-December and their standard rooms and casino are in poor condition.

Bally's would be my second choice based on room quality (north tower rooms are now standard and are much better rooms than standard Flamingo or Harrahs), location and having a casino which offers decent poker options (tournament, no limit & 3-6 limit). You also have the Bellagio poker room across the street and PHo and Cosmo close by for the bars/clubs. PHo has a lively poker room with decent action (no limit or tournament).

Treasure Island offers the best rooms among the four choices originally listed, and if the prices are comparable among the four choices, this would be the best deal in terms of room. You have decent poker, club and bar options right across the street (V/P & Wynn/Encore).

You might also want to look at Mirage. Very reasonable.

Of the hotels you mentioned, I would pick TI for overall quality.

Dec 16-23 is pretty much the cheapest time of year in LV, and you might be able to move a little bit up the food chain for almost no money. Mirage or PH, as mentioned, would be good choices.

Book your airfare, but I would book a refundable/changeable hotel at this point since as it gets closer you may find shockingly cheap hotel rates midweek at that time of year.

I would pick the Flamingo. I have stayed there 13 times and never had a problem. If I wasn't comped at Caesars Palace now I'd still be at the Flamingo.

I would pick TI out of your list of hotels. Better rooms on average and beds too.

Id agree other than you might give the Mirage a look too. TI is definitely lighter and the Mirage much darker in the casino so if that's an issue, good info to have.

Since you're going during a very slow time of the year you might want to book a standard room at one of the nicer properties and then see if they will upgrade you since it is your anniversary. On the other end of the spectrum Casino Royale at that time of the year will be dirt cheap with no resort fee and an amazing location.

Out of that group, Monte Carlo is actually the best casino and hotel, IMO. But since you're wanting more center strip, I would go with Ballys. It is dead center, more spacious rooms than the other three, farther away from Linq construction than Flamingo or Harrahs, and at least has a comparable poker room to those places. I've always found Flamingo and, especially, Harrahs to be dingy. TI is nicer than those, but I would say it is as far from center strip as Monte Carlo

I think TI, Flamingo or Harrahs in that order. You might want to consider the Linq construction as UK mentioned.

For me it would be Flamingo, Ballys then Harrahs. TI may be the nicest property you mentioned, but it is on my no need to return list. It just lacked the feel and energy of the other properties.

I'm your age... If your looking into ballys why not the cabana suites at El Cortez super comfortable and super budget friendly... What better place to drink and play poker as well as not breaking the bank as downtown

If you have to stay on the strip... I'd suggest royal resort... It's barely off the strip on convention center drive. And it's a short walk away from encore, Wynn, palazzo, Venetian and treasure Island...

That hotel provides a fridge, microwave, coffee maker.

If it was ME... I would pick TI and then Flamingo. But based on what you're looking for, I would say Flamingo but I'm going to jump on board with a couple others and ask you to look at Planet Hollywood. I think it would be right up your alley.

based on price I would do Flamingo or Bally's. Both are great location but the Flamingo pool is way better.
