    My Trip Report

Day one – June 24 – Flew SW out of Tulsa non stop, about 8 AM, got a call from them saying your flight is delayed 1.5 hours, at Noon got another call stating flight was on time. Since it's a 3 hour drive to the Tulsa airport from where we live in Missouri, glad we ignored the first call and left the house on time. At the beginning of this year, we decided to say to hell with Allegiant, Ann due to them always being late, myself because I hate 6 am flights home.

Plane left on time, scored A40 and 41 with EB seating, ended up on the second row, middle and window. About midway through service, the captain put the SB sign on and told the FA's to sit down. Thirty minutes later, the FA's came on and told everybody to sit down, it's really bumpy in the back, and nobody should go back there. Ordered another drink when the came around and the FA decided to comp it. Sitting next to the window, managed to smoke “vapor” pretty much the entire flight.

On time arrival, and met Ted (from WI) of Presidential limo in Baggage claim. Had already called him the Friday before to make sure he would be our driver. Caught up on his news (new twin grand babies) and off to Aria we went.

Told the invited guest clerk it was our anniversary (it wasn't till the day after we checked out) and asked for any upgrades, received a tower suite on the 53 floor with a city view, great room but non smoking. We tried the vapor thing, but ended up switching to a “deluxe” smoking the next day. Both rooms were great, but the front desk clerk turned out be a real piece of work. More on that later.

So we unpack the bags, at least the vodka, hot sauce, whoootashire, and bloody ceasar mix (1st time, good stuff) and have a couple of drinks and hit the casino about 7 PM, both agreeing to eat early, as we were pretty tired.

I find my five line triple red hot 7 machine I'd hit on the last time I was at Aria (2 years ago) and it starts hitting. When all was said and done, I was up 1200 on that machine. Ann had walked by and said she was going that a way, so I said I would find her. Turns out I looked for her for over an hour, and she was sitting three rows over.

She had found a $ WOF machine that let her play, so I told her I was going towards the front desk to play the 4 screen buffalo machine I like. Won another $500 on it, and she showed up. We ended up back in the room around 1 AM, and ordered room service. 65 minute wait, shit! Stayed awake for the allotted time and scarfed down a salad and philly cheese steak pizza. I'd give the food a six.

Got to bed around 3 am or so. Did notice that the drink service was way better in the penny section than the $ section. More later

Day two – woke up around 8 am, made coffee and decided to toss on some clothes and go downstairs for a real smoke around 8:30. Played a few penny games, and ended up at family guy. Didn't take to long for me to notice that it is a specialty machine and took $10 coin in to earn a point. Decided to play it anyway and ended up playing it long enough for three bloody marys. Headed upstairs around 10:30 to shower and get ready for the rest of the day, to find a clean room.

Took quick showers and headed back downstairs to play a bit more. Around two, Ann, decided she wanted to see if we could change to a smoking room, so off we went to the invited guest check in to ask. Couldn't get a smoking suite, but could downgrade to deluxe room, which was fine with us. The clerk told us to come back in one hour, as the room wasn't clean yet, but he would put a “rush” on it. This turned out to be 100% bullshit.

We messed around feeding the machines for a bit, then went upstairs to throw our stuff in the bags and get ready to move. At the 1 hour mark, called down and got the same guy. Nope, room not ready, give me 30 minutes and I'll call you. An hour goes by and Ann calls down. Nope, not ready yet, I'll call you in 20 minutes. Thirty minutes later, Ann is seeing red as she had tipped the guy. So off we go, only to find out the guy had gone home.

The new clerk looked at us kind of funny, but did find us a room to move to. Ann actually liked the deluxe room better, more useable space to put stuff and was happy.

I went back downstairs to continue on my quest to make gold status for the year, much easier to do in Vegas than in Mississippi due to the point multiplier and quickly attained that status, and ended up in the room around 8 PM to order room service.

Ann had the chopped vegetable salad (steamed cold vegetables on the side of a romaine wedge, while I had the $28 two piece fish and chips that is $2.99 at Captain D's. The only difference I noticed was the $25.01 difference in price.

About halfway through dinner, I decided to try to find my glasses and get rid of the contacts for the night. This proved fruitless as the lighting in the standard “deluxe” room is non existent. Damn cfl bulbs. Speaking of the room, the tech is cool, but, having an electrical engineering degree, I'll take the standard light switch any day. The supplied touchscreen was a bit worn out.

Finally gave up looking for the glasses and then Ann exclaims that she had left her chi rocket hair drier in the other room. Here we go again. So I call down to the front desk, he puts me on hold. Comes back on and tells me somebody will meet me at the old room in ten minutes.

I head up there, and housekeeping is getting ready to go inside. We wait for security and after showing ID, I managed to get said hairdrier. I was a bit worried as every since the room change, the computer was showing our last name as Hernandez, even though our last name starts with a W. The room (touchscreen) knew our name, but every damned operator called us Mr. and Mrs. Hernandez.

I fully planned on letting the Hernandez party pay for our stay at check out.

Decided to stay in the room the rest of the evening, as I had achieved what I came to do on the strip, retaining gold status, and wanted to save our money for the South Point.

Day 3 – Woke up around 6:30, had coffee and wasted time watching GMA till around 9, headed downstairs, secured a late checkout for 1 PM, and went to the M&M store. Kill me now, but Ann enjoyed herself. I was surprised, the store wasn't overrun by children, as it usually is like the day after thanksgiving. Still, after three minutes, I was back out on the street watching somebody in a hello kitty suit sweat their ass off.

When Ann finished up, (only $124, I win!), we went back to the Monte Carlo where she had seen some older games she wanted to play. We played a bit, and had a few very tasty bloody marys, much better than those at Aria. Around 11:30, decided to call Ted to see if he could pick us up at 1 instead of 1:30 to take us to the South Point. He said he had a drop off at monte carlo and would call us when leaving. So we headed back over, called the bellman and went to check out.

They actually knew our correct name. Shocking. Used our EC's to pay and headed out to grab our bags and wait for Ted.

He showed at 1:05 and we headed down the strip, stopping at a Lee's Liquor store about a mile North of the SP. Ann wanted a bottle of good champagne for our Anniversary. Then headed on to the SP. Dropped our bags with the bellman and went to see if our suite was ready.

Front desk clerk informed us that the people in our suite had a late check out and then our suite would have to be cleaned. Asked her if there was a clean out, there was and we were off to 25-028. Love those SP mailers for 1 bedroom suites. Called down to the bell desk and our bags were delivered in about 5 minutes.

    More to come.

About five minutes after the bags arrive, room service calls and asks if we are going to be in the room, “one of the hosts has a gift for you”. Hmm, since our previous host had left and I contacted a random host via email, I was curious, so I sat around and waited.

Chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne magically appeared.

After about 30 minutes, I went downstairs to start earning that free suite. Stopped off at a 4 screen buffalo run, there went a quick hundred, wandered over to wolfs run 4 screen, got some play but dropped another 100, stopped off at the 3x4x5x penny reel machine that another poster told me to play, didn't hit for 200, but did get back 40 of the loss. Wandered over and saw the wonka machine. Sat down, started playing max bet and faster than you can say cocktails, there went another $150. $4 spins can eat the bankroll quick when you only occasionally get hits larger than $3. Finally snagged a cocktail and wandered over to the 5 line triple red hot seven reels. Put in $100 and hit the $ denomination button and two or three spins later, hit double double triple 7's for somewhere around $652. I still wonder why I bother with penny machines.

The drink lady magically appears and starts appearing more often. Hit several small hits for around 75 and decide to go play a triple red hot 7 single line $2 machine. That didn't work.

Wander back over to the wolfs run machine and play for quite awhile, until my cell phone rang with a friendly reminder that food was (is) to be delivered at 7 PM. Shit, that leaves 20 minutes, so I go back to the 5 line machine. Should have gone to the deli, but wanted that free (????) drink. End up at the deli and forgetting I'm supposed to be eating healthy order two gyros, one order of hot wings, and a 5LB slab of black forest chocolate cream cake. That cake was a bargain at $5.99. Slap down the 10% coupon, struggle to remember our room number (even after calling to confirm it) and charge the stuff to the room.

Make my way to the elevator, climb on and ask for my floor. Some older lady looks at me and says “top floor?” I just look at her and say “it's good to be on top, not just in this hotel either” She quickly changes the subject to the food, as in where did I get it?

Make it to the room at 7, after running around 6K through the machines, and proceeded to be the best glutton I could be. Thought about heading back downstairs, but ended up falling asleep (yeah, we can call it that) on the couch.

e-cigs are banned on all flights. How did you get away with smoking one the entire time?

FA's were sitting down most of the flight, the ecig is one of those njoy that are the size of normal smokes, and you don't have to take it out of the case. Then I was sitting in the window seat, my wife and the lady next door were holding the magazines to shield me, and I was exhaling downward.

We know one of the ticket agents at the airport, and he was telling us before the flight that the FA's go to the back of the plane and smoke them all the time.

Figured as long as I wasn't being obvious, I could get away with it. I wasn't taking big hits either.

    Hello,

Great report and thanks for sharing. Yes you gotta love those (free) drinks when you are playing, sometimes costs you lots of dough for one of those perks. I am actually staying at the Aria for the first time this October. Kinda looking forward to it as we have booked a corner suite. I have gambled there and kinda liked the place. It was good to see you started off by winning and playing with their moola.

    Thanks again,

    Tony

Day 4 – Woke up around 6:30, got up, went about making coffee and wasted an hour waiting for Ann to arise. Had our coffee, ordered a pitcher of Orange Juice, and cracked open a bottle of champagne. Mimosa time.

Ann said happy anniversary, now go gamble, and knowing that this was code for “go gamble”, did. Hit the casino around 9:30. Played various games, with no big hits till around 11 when I decided a hot dog was in order. 75 cents + 25 cent tip later, I was in business. I hated to assault my buzz with food, but figured it was the right thing to do.

Wandered around playing various games, ended up at Wonka again. Managed to get the bonus a couple of times, the oompa Loompas a few times and had a good time losing. Finally ended up going to the wolfs run machine to put some points on the card, I find the four screens generally give lots of play for the money, and was not disappointed. Kept going up 50, then down 50 for a couple of hours, when Ann called. Told her how to find me, and she magically appeared with an Orange Soda. WTF? She obviously didn't know that the wolfs run had been designated a dry county area. She immediately marched over to the bar and grabbed the CW.

Ann wanted to play Texas Tea, so we went all the way to the other end of the casino, where I knew, for a fact, that there was verified cocktail service. She set down to TT, I sat down at a single game wolfs run, hit max bet, and hit for $381 on the first spin. Promptly told her that I was cashing out, and wandered two machines down. The CW showed up, remembering what I wanted, and the party continued.

We ended up at side by side 5 line $ machines, triple red hot 7's for me, white ice for her. The 7's were stingy, she was hitting left and right. Between the two of us, we put about 4000 points ($1 = 1 point) on the card in about 30 minutes. She won, I got my drunken ass kicked.

We wandered over to the four screen buffalo machine, ordered a couple of drinks and I proclaimed to Ann that I needed to see one of the games covered in buffalo, She wandered off to the powder room when boom, it hit, $350. So I sat there and waited to show her.

Ann decides she's had enough, so we head up to the room for a bit, then I decide to go back down. Play for a bit longer, no big hits, and head upstairs around 7, skipping the agreed upon deli, opting for room service.

I had the beef stroganoff, which was more like beef tips in a burgundy sauce (good stuff), while she had the chicken zapata, which was some sort of pasta dish with chicken, peppers, cheese and black beans (also good stuff). Wanting to eat healthy, we also had a few salads sent up.

We decided to call it a day and enjoy the rest of our anniversary with some quiet time, which translates to watching Hells Kitchen. (That blonde has to go).

Day 5 – Head back to Oklahoma day. Now we don't live in Oklahoma, though I wouldn't mind it. We live about 3 hours away from the Tulsa airport and since our flight wouldn't be getting back till 6:30, we decided to be lazy and spend the night in Broken Arrow.

Woke up around 7 am, did the coffee thing again and started pulling out the bubble wrap to pack up all the left over booze. Called the host around 9:15, everything comped off. Mentioned we would be back in November, to which she replied, send me your dates, your suite will be comped.
Left Ann to shower, and hit the casino. Should have stayed up to help pack, but losing is more fun than packing. Ran two grand through the machines and was back up to the room by 10:30 to help finish packing. We had reserved a spot in the free airport shuttle at 11:45 for a 1:50 flight.

The bellman arrived at 11:15, told us to be at the shuttle stop at 11:40 and our bags would be there. Checked out via the tv and waited for the shuttle. It left promptly at 11:45 and by 12:15 we were at our gate, courtesy of the little known other c gate tsa line.

Stopped off at Blue Burrito company and grabbed a couple of burritos (I recommend the green chile carnitas) for dinner. For the food police out there, they were still warm to the touch when we hit the hotel in Tulsa, we survived.

Flight home was uneventful, except for the lady who thought she was having a heart attack behind us. The guy next to her gave her a “pain” pill and she was quiet the rest of the way.

Lost about 2500 over the trip, cheaper than disney world if you ask me.

    Thanks for reading.

South Point is one of those places that for the past few years I have been meaning to spend a couple hours gambling in but have just never made it. I get to Vegas with the best laid plans of mice and men, start my 3 day drinking binge on the plane, and then just go whatever way the wind blows me. I "Plan" to swing by the South Point this weekend. Any CW's or bartenders you want me to holla at let me know.

Best of luck Huddler, the BEST (ie strongest) drinks are made at the bar past the showroom past check in. The BEST looking cocktailers are at the other end of the casino, by the poker room. At least they are in the morning, by noon they all look good.
