Probably a lot! I play $5 VP at $25 a hand and can drop $1k in a heartbeat with hardly any coin-in, multiple times during a trip. In the span of barely half a year I've gone from loving VP to absolutely despising it! :grrr:

Does anyone know the return on that machine payoff? I'm assuming it's 99%+ but I'm not familiar with that game.

    It's 8/5 Bonus Poker so 99.17%.

I was at PH last week and you couldn't even get 8/5 on a $100 machine:

It's CET, what do you expect? lol VPFree2 says there is one unit at PH that offers 9/6 JoB for up to $25 a credit, which is the best you'll ever get obv. It says Paris both offers $100 9/6 JoB and 8/5 BP (3 coins), and Caesars offers the same for 5 coins.

Yes I know that ONE machine well, it has $5 9/6 JOB and its tucked away in a tiny barely accessible corner of the high limit room. I could hardly even get on it because it was next to some keno machine that this lady was always on and she had her feet propped up on the chair for the VP machine. Oh well...she probably saved me a bunch of money.

By the way I wouldn't put it all on CET, at least they had ONE machine. At MGM they didn't have a single one anywhere at the $5 level. I ended up playing 7/5 BP and having my ass handed to me. Not that it means much, we visited Red Rock and I played bartop 8/5 BP and got my ass handed to me there as well. VP is the devil's game.

Yeah, it looks like MGM doesn't have 1 single-line 8/5 Bonus game at that level (you could play a single line of Spin Poker though and get mad when big hands hit elsewhere...lol). Personally on a $25/round budget, I'd be playing a few lines of dollar Quick Quads at 9/6 DDB (99.65%). I think it's the highest paying game MGM properties have excluding Circus Circus, obv. And Quick Quads is more fun anyway, imo.

I am confused, when I look at vpfree2, they list 26 machines with 99.17 BP at MGM, going from $1 - $100??? Is that page that out of date or am I misunderstanding what you are saying, KickinChicken?

You have to look at the second column. Those are all multiline games. For example the $1 games are 50 lines, so you're betting $1 * 5 credits * 50 lines = $250 per spin. Other ones are spin poker which is 9 lines I think, so a minimum of $45 per spin. That's why those are all in the high limit room. Maybe you can play just 1 or 5 lines on those machines, I never checked but I highly doubt it. I should have checked though.

I'm a simple guy who likes to play the normal single line games. Usually at the $5 level you can find them at full-pay (e.g. even Aria has 9/6 JOB at $5). But at MGM they don't offer any. The VP situation there was surprisingly bad in my opinion.

Oh, I see what you are saying, but heck every 50 play machine I have been on, it is your choice to play 1 line to 50, although I agree with you, if I am playing anything above pennies or nickels, I prefer the single line games.

Will give a kudos to whomever runs vpfree, at least one can check there and see what is available at various places. I have no idea how they keep it up to date.

FYI, all 50/100 line games, all Super Times Pay/Double Super Times Pay, and all Spin Poker machines can be set to play anywhere from 1 to the max lines allowed with 5 (or more) credits wagered per hand.

Example: Not nearly as pretty as pic in OP.

When you say the "machines can be set" do you mean set by the casino or set by the player? Because I seem to remember looking at a 25-cent hundred play game that was next to me in a higher limit bank of VP machines I was playing at Aria showing some higher minimum than $1.25.

Um, either. The player can set the number of hands and credits bet per hand via the touch screen or the buttons. The casino can also set a minimum bet requirement per round. I would say ~half of 50/100 play machines I have seen are given a minimum bet requirement of 1 credit times the max number of hands. So for pennies, thats $1.00 per round on an 100 play. Or $2.50 for nickels on a 50-play, etc. But on the fifty play, I'd be playing 10 hands at 5 credits a hand instead.

if you want to know about how much he lost before he won that, just take your regular bankroll/loss and multiply it by 100 if you play quarters or 25 if you play dollars, etc. it's the same game, just bigger numbers.

Of course it varies but based on a lot of trials, I've found I need to bankroll a $1 BP game about $400 (each session, which could be an hour or so) to be able to ride the ups and downs and have a shot at making some decent money. Gambling being gambling, sometimes that loses too.

But that said, if you used the same bankroll but in higher denominations (as shifter mentioned) it's not unreasonable to think a person would have to bankroll a $25 machine about $10K.....or get lucky.

Obviously worth it "if" you pull a RF.

    Oh yea....looks better rotated:

Personally I feel for a normal trip bankroll for single line VP you should have around 1 royal. So bring $4k for $1, $20k for $5, and $100k for $25. I don't know if that is overkill but the speed at which I've lost sometimes makes it sound appropriate. I think your numbers for at least a one hour session are fair.

The problem with VP is if you hit a bad run at a certain point you can't really comeback unless you hit a royal or an amazing streak of other big hands. It's a lot harder to claw your way back up like you can potentially do on blackjack or other table games. Especially because its not really manageable to vary your bets the way you can do on tables. Which makes a big difference in terms of amplifying a good streak.

Bankroll considerations is really dependent on the number of hands on your trip. But if you are playing a handful of hours over a handful of days, then having a Royal's worth of a bankroll isn't a bad idea because youre probably pumping out 10k to 20k hands or more. I don't play as much VP while in Vegas I would probably like. I'm whipped...lol
