The forecast for this weekend is 117 for Las Vegas, NV. The hottest temperature ever recorded in Las Vegas, Nevada is 117 degrees, which has occurred on two different dates. It was 117 degrees on both July 24, 1942, and July 19, 2005. It has been 116 degrees in Las Vegas well over a dozen times. We will tie or break the record tomorrow. If you are in Vegas this weekend this may explain why it feels so hot.

This weekend may also break the record for the hottest day ever on Earth. Death Valley may reach or break it's current record of 134.

Drink water after every couple of beers. I want to see how this heat is impacting trip reports...

For most people, anything over 110 degrees will feel the same, so whether it hits 114, 115, 117 or higher, it really won't matter.

The majority of people will probably just stay inside, in the comfort of the air conditioning.

Those that do venture out will hopefully do so under the misters and keep themselves hydrated. Also, when going to the pool make sure to wear flip-flops or water shoes as the pool deck will burn the bottom of your feet.

Ahhhhhh I hope to be there on a record breaker. What are the odds it's just gonna get hotter over the next couple of weeks?

We were there when the temp was 117-but it's a dry heat! I remember specifically being at Sunset Station and someone telling us that it was literally hot enough to fry and egg on the sidewalk. Our friends are arriving in LV tonight and planning on going to DV tomorrow. I've tried to discourage them but they're determined.

While it will be hot, I can survive it, just remember to stay hydrated and avoid being out in the heat too long, I'll be doing most of my walking at night anyways and during the day I'll be in the AC

    117 today in Vegas

:wink2:Been there when it's this hot. To hot for the pool. To hot just to go outside to get to another hotel. It's just hot. It's why I don't go this time of year anymore. May and Oct seem to be nicer. Did I say it's fricken hot there.:wink2:

We were there several years ago when it was 115. We decided to walk from Harrahs to Stratosphere . By the time we got there our tennis shoes felt like they were on fire.

We had an official drought last year and I lost several trees. This year it's monsoon season and I can't keep up with how fast the grass is growing! I get ready to cut it and it starts raining again.:grrr:

But yes, mid 70s feels pretty good and I haven't had the AC on once yet!

It hit 113 here twice last year and having been in Vegas a few different times when it was at 114 I will take the heat there anyday over the heat here, three days this past week our index as well as Texas was higher than Vegas. Folks laugh about dry heat but till ya been there done that you do not realize the difference. Definitely gotta drink that water for sure though, the dry heat sucks the fluids out with each breath, even my MMA friends who live there, outside Bill the nut job, are sticking to indoor workouts. But Bill was raised here

Today is grass-cutting day (I can't believe how much it grew from last weekend) but it is too wet to cut. And it will ONLY get to about 70 if we are lucky today... I don't know if it will dry enough to cut today.

I got home yesterday from a business trip. It was 100 when we walked out to the limo at 9:30 am. Our 11:40 flight was delayed when the engines overheated on the tarmac. I saw a report that the airport hit 115. We were only delayed two hours, so it wasn't that bad. I was actually hoping they'd offer something for another flight so I could stay another night.

It made it as high as 124 degrees in Death Valley today, or 4 degrees lower than the predicted high of 128. While it should be 1-3 degrees warmer tomorrow, it's doubtful 130 will be broached.

It's currently 119 under night skies near the Kingdom of Nye.

They keep the casinos so damn cold that the triple digit heat actually feels good when we go outside to thaw out.

 For a minute, then your glad to walk past a casion doors and feel the blast for a second of that's nice. So goes Vegas. I remember many a time driving to Vegas in the summer and in your a/c cooled car and getting to your hotel and opening your door and wham, it really hits you.

Death Valley may reach 130 today. Official record high statistics at Furnace Creek on Sunday will be reported later this morning.

    The AP reported 129.9
. The official temperature is recorded at Furnace Creek (190 feet below sea level). Badwater Basin within the park is the lowest point in North America (282 feet below sea level) and is even warmer.
