Hi, I'm a frequent Vegas visitor and for a few years we seemed to benefit from comps without seeking them out, getting free nights and a Casino Host.

Now that we are more savvy they seem to have dried up. We're Platinum MLife holders and on average we probably gamble a few thousand every trip and having done so earlier this year, apart from some food comped off our room and the usual MLife rewards according to the MGM hotels that we normally stay in we have nothing due.

Is this normal, or are we doing something wrong?

If you're a Platinum level player and already dropped a few thousand this year, it would seem like you should be receiving some sort of offers, even if it's a comped room at the lower end MGM properties or reduced room rates at the higher end properties. I wonder if you're a victim of the poor marketing dept and aren't receiving notice of offers. I would suggest you call the VIP desk and simply ask if you have any promotions available to you. If not, I'd ask to speak with a host and nicely inquire about your status and offer availability.

Status really doesn't have allot to do with your comps or lack thereof. The casino's are looking at your ADT. It's all about how much money of your money the casino's get or have potential access to. You can be Platinum and get very little or you can be Platinum and get free rooms, meals, etc... The whole status thing is a psychological marketing technique. There is this perceived value that most people have in there mind this is why people try to obtain higher levels. If the casino only had two levels say Sapphire and Noir there would be no carrot to dangle in front of you. Yet the casinos have multiple levels so as you go along you obtain a higher level with higher perceived benefits.

if you are middle or low player cet will treat you better towards free rooms .you will get less free food food the room is the most important thing and expense in my opinion.

i droped 20 grand at aria 2 weeks ago in about 7 hours of playing blackjack striaght in one nite bad day in the office. they where nice to me but still no fee room offers are anything like that yet or any contact from anyone at the hotel.

im going to hit them up next week to see if they will pick up a meal without using my express comps.

If you're saying that you are still seeing offers, but they are now limited to only the properties where you've gambled the most, then I would say that, yes, this is normal for mLife nowadays.

If you're seeing no offers at all, then something may be up and you should consider making direct contact with a host or casino marketing department.

Yes, some plat players get close to nothing. Some get lots.

    Factors are primarily your ADT.

Good summary. This is one of the best techniques as it costs the casino nothing beyond printing new different shinny color cards for their gamblers.

Over how many days do you drop a few thousand? As has been said, if your ADT is low then dont expect much in comps...

you say you use to get good offers...have you increased the length of your trips but kept the same bankroll?

I have stopped trying to figure out how MGM awards comps. This past May I had
two nights comped only responsible for the resort fee. After not playing as much as normal I only earned enough to take off the resort fee for one of the nights. Last week my offer from them was three nights comped. Go figure.

You were at a zero rate and charged the resort fee? I've never been charged a resort fee on a comp. Are you saying you used all ECs to pay for the room? That would be different. I was at Mirage in April and no resort fee. Did they start charging in May?

Hi, that's the strange thing, we always go for the same amount of time. I had wondered whether it was just a sign of the times, but if anything, I think we gamble more now than we used to and we certainly don't appear to win any more! I think I need to just buckle up and ask the question. The host that we had at Mandalay Bay has never been the best communicator but when I asked for rooms she always gave me great rates and a few free nights.

I'll grow a (fake) pair when we're there next and ask because I know husband wont!

Thanks for all the replies. :nworthy:

Both nights were comped but I was told there would be a 25 a day resort fee. They used what little ec's I earned and applied it which left me a balance of around 28 bucks. I was really surprised since the first day was spent in the sports book watching the NBA playoffs and the second night we went to a concert giving very little play

I'm guessing I'm like everybody else that goes to LV regularly and get some kind of offer 5-10x a week from the various properties. It's funny...NYNY and Excalibur give a discounted rate when MGM, aria, Bellagio and MC gives comped rooms. No rhyme or reason. It's a matter of who has the most "free" for me.

This is the case exactly. I'm getting offers from only the two properties I've stayed at more recently. I know I've given the play, because both of those offers are solid, but I've got zero from any other MGM property.
