What's a good place for 6-8 people to watch at college football game on a Saturday in September at 4:30 Pacific Time? It could be a sports book or a sports bar, I don't care. I just want a big screen, drinks and us to be able to sit together for 3 hours.

I looked at Lagasse's. A skybox looks to be $150 per person. Not sure of that is in addition to food and drinks or if that's a food/drink minimum. That would likely be the most convenient.

If there's just a sports bar like a Buffalo Wild Wings that would be good too.

    Any help appreciated. Thanks.

How much will the Skybox run me? Can you recommend any sports bars without a book?

If downtown is an option for you, I recommend the Sports Book at The Plaza. This is a William Hill Sports Book that was recently rennovated (reopened during 2013 March Madness).

I went there on June 1, 2013 to watch a Blackhawks vs Kings playoff game. There are plenty of large HDTVs (some appeared to be about 70") and comfortable seats with tables. You could easily put two tables together to sit 8 people.

The Casino Bar is close by (15 steps). When I was there the bar featured $2 Dos Equis bottles and $10 buckets (5 beers) of Coors Light. If you're hungry for a slice, Pop Up Pizza is close by as well. $3.84 (including tax) for a slice.

I plan on going back to Vegas in September, and will likely return to this book to watch and bet on both college and pro games.

There really aren't any sports bars not associated with a book on the strip. Mirage has a bar located behind the sports book which gives you a great view of their new big screens. If your looking for neighborhood sports bars you'll need to leave the strip. i can give you options but I don't think that's what your asking for. Paying for seating just seems like a waste at that time just for the night games. Most of the big crowd has thinned out to go to dinner, shows, nap and gamble by then.

Blondies in the Miracle Mile shops is a sports bar not affiliated with a sportsbook. I think for college games you need reservations and there are some spend and time constraints, such as the people there for the early games (I think 9AM Vegas time) have to spend X amount and leave at a certain time when the midday games start, as they take reservations for those as well. I imagine it can get hairy if games run long and there is overlap.

Best bet would be to call them.

There is also the Pub at Monte Carlo and the place at NYNY that used to be ESPN Zone, I think it's name now is Sporting House or something like that.

    Caesars is nice.
    Rio is nice.
    Gold Coast. NO.
    MGM without a skybox, NO.
Bellagio. NO. Nice hotel, but I don't like the Sportsbook.

Just about all resorts have nice sports books for viewing. The Palms JUST opened a new sportsbar, Herea, that is run by Cantor Sportsbook and you can bet, eat, drink, and sit comfortably. But it sounded loud.

Lots of people like the LVH, known as the Las Vegas Hotel and previously known as the Las Vegas Hilton. I only went to the Star Trek bar when it was there.

Since Herea is brand new, I have not had the privilege of sitting in there during football season as it did not exist last fall.

Why go to Las Vegas to just sit in a Sports Bar? I go to Las Vegas to BET on games and sit in a sportsbar and have long legged cocktail waitresses serve me golden nectar and decadent sustenance.

If you are a bettor, shop around, different casinos have different odds. Example, the MGM odds are different than Caesars odds.

Was there in October and we went to the Pub in Monte Carlo to watch games and also the book at Aria. Only tabletops for Aria but Pub has booths and tabletops.

Lagasse's is a good option - the $150 is a minimum food/drink charge, not an additional charge.

I like LVH, and they should have spots clearing up after the 1:30PM games end. If you are staying along the South Strip, Tropicana usually has seating available mid day. Mandalay Bay is pretty large as well. MGM, Bellagio and other South Strip casinos are usually a packed / limited sports books.

I have decent luck at Mirage / TI in terms of seating, but it will be harder to find 6 open seats together mid day until people start to clear for dinner / East Coast afternoon games ending.

Show up early, wherever you go, if you don't have a reservation. CFB and NFL fill the books.

In regards to LVH last year I went to the showroom to watch the Sunday games.
When you enter all the early and late games are on various TV screens.
    There is food and beverage.
And if I remember correctly there are betting windows set up before you enter showroom.

Gonna be hard to accommodate that many in a sports book altogether if you showed up that late.

I would reserve Lagasse's. Their minimum covers all food and drink up to the minimum.

While I don't care for the Bellagio sports book; it has 1 nice quality in that you can get free drinks even if you're not betting. Just tip the waitress. I think Aria has the nicest sports book though it is smaller compared to others.
