For an upcoming September trip we will be splitting our time between three hotels. The first two nights will be at MGM Grand, then a night at the Golden Nugget and the last three at one of these options. Opinions?

-Aria corner suite. Just the regular one. This is the cheapest room at $771 for the three nights all included. The room looks great and I love the bedroom. This also includes a $50 resort credit and a "view upgrade" (not sure if that will actually pan out). Aria does seem inconvenient and more oriented towards south strip activities and we will already be spending two nights at MGM. We tend to enjoy the center strip area most. We spend a lot of time inside the Flamingo, Mirage, Casino Royale, Harrahs etc. We like our fancy rooms but prefer cheap drinks, gambling and food (for the most part).

-Mirage tower one bedroom suite. This is a really cool room but isn't the "experience" that is the Sky Suite. The total for this room is $966 all included and includes a $50 resort credit. I have always wanted to stay here. There isn't a lot to do in the Mirage but it has easier access to places we enjoy. Some of the places in the Mirage are downright offensive and there are no cheap dining options. There aren't any big negatives but it isn't really very exciting either.

-Aria one bedroom Skysuite. This is obviously the best of the rooms and it's the most expensive at $1142 all inclusive plus the $50 resort credit and also the "view upgrade". Will this be to the panoramic view? If so this would be an easy choice. This would definitely be an amazing experience. We have stayed in a wraparound at the Cosmo previously and would be interested to see how it compares. The negatives are the same as before, basically location and lack of affordable gaming and cheap eats inside or near the hotel.

So what to do? Any opinions would be appreciated!

Oddly, Aria has better access to cheap eats than Mirage. From Aria you are a 5 minute indoor walk from the Monte Carlo food court. At Mirage, you're going to have to walk outside, and nothing is that close.

Point taken. McDonalds stuck out at me so much that I kind of wrote off the Monte Carlo food court. It seems there are also tacos, and Chinese and I'd probably just eat at Original Chicken Tender every time anyways!

I like the Mirage suite. But not being an Aria fan at all - have you considered the Vdara. You seem to get more bang for your buck - suite wise - and it really is just a short walk to both the Bellagio and the Aria. I just walked it last week.

We just don't really have any desire to stay at Vdara. There is nothing there. We definitely want to be in a hotel with a casino. I already consider the Aria to be a bit inconvenient to get in and out of and Vdara is even more so.

For a bachelorette weekend last year, we got 3 separate Corner Suites, so I got to see the various permutations of the layout, and they *really* vary. I wrote up my advice on tripadvisor, and here's what I said:

"The configuration of the rooms differed, and two were great (on the 300 wing and on the 000 wing), but one was only so-so (the 200 wing). The configuration in room 15246 was awful - lots of useless space, and the closet was in the bathroom and not in the bedroom. A real pain. Like many people note, the walk to the room can be quite far, and this is definitely true for the corner suite. However, the walk to the room on the 300 wing was significantly shorter - if getting a corner suite, I would request one on the 300 wing. The great thing for us was that the corner suite does include a refrigerator, which was nice for keeping water / pop cold. (Note - there are not any pop machines on the hotel floors!) My room (#22042) had a 'premium' view, and I think the mountain view is just as nice - it is definitely not worth paying more to 'upgrade' from mountain view."

Be prepared to *walk* very far for certain Corner Suites, since they're at the very edge of the hotel.

Lots of good info Flyover! If we do chose the Corner suite I will remember to ask for the 300 wing and having the corner suites being an even further walk isn't the greatest. Having a useful refrigerator is a big deal to me too though. I gotta have my Powerades stocked up for hangovers!

based on your likes and dislikes, have you considered staying in a suite at Treasure Island? it's in the same part of the Strip that you prefer, plus has cheapdining options and easy access (via tram) to Mirage and points south. it's been a while since I stayed there, but the suites at TI are comparable to Mirage Tower suites in terms of size and views. just a thought.

I definitely haven't seen anything at Treasure Island that even remotely compares to any of these. The nicest room on their website is their Tower Suite and it doesn't even even have a separate bedroom. It's also fairly closely priced to the others. I just don't see anything that entices me there. I would be more apt to stay at the Palazzo.

    TI

Sounds as though you would want a Luxury Suite, Premier Suite or Penthouse Suite at TI, then. I believe you would only be able to price one of these by calling the hotel directly. Honestly, the big suites at TI are probably too dated in terms of decor in comparison to the others on your list anyway.

Aria Sky Suite and it's not even close. Spectacular.

    Aria suites are nice.

But, based on your comments on Aria and location, I would be leaning towards Mirage. Assume you have ruled out Bellagio?

I've stayed multiple times in all three. Here's how I would rank them in order of preference:

    1) Aria Sky Suite. The level of service in the Sky Suites is definitely 5-Diamond. It is superior service than Wynn Tower Suites, IMO. I don't think you should worry about the view. Nothing at Aria has a spectacular Strip view. The amentities of a Sky Suite add a lot of value to the room. Top notch.

    2) Aria Corner Suite. Very nice for a standard suite. Plenty of innovations in the room. Spacious, but not overdone. The bathroom is cool. Not very exclusive though.

    3) Mirage Tower Suite. Dated room even though recently remodeled. Lots of wasted space in this suite, not much technology. Not much exclusivity beyond a separate elevator bank. No difference in service than a standard Mirage room. The best there was in 1990, but that was a long time ago.

All three options have cheap food, cheap gambling, and cheap drinking within a short walk or monorail ride. None of them are necessarily budget-minded though.

    I agree .
I have stayed in all three and Sky Suites are the best.
The separate lobby for the Sky Suites is close to the walkway to the Monte Carlo for cheap eats.
Plus the lobby offers the free coffee, water and snacks that is a real nice benefit.
No long waits for coffee in line in the morning.
The square footage of the Mirage Tower/Penthouse suite may be larger but overall it is not as nice.Plus they don't have a second bathroom/powder room.

Excellent, thanks! We really have no actual reason to be in any of these suites but we just enjoy it. Makes the vacation really seem like a vacation.

I'm a little scared of the location of Aria still but feel like the SkySuite is the way to go. It seems like the price we are getting is really low, most other dates I have checked have put it at or above $500 a night. The rate we have now is just over $300 before tax and resort fee.

We can stay at the Mirage any time so I'm putting in my vote for the SkySuite. I can't wait to see how it compares to a Wraparound at Cosmo, which was awesome even if it was borderline filthy when we checked in.:nono:

Well, I just stayed at the SkySuite last May (seems like a lifetime ago) and it was spectacular. Remember you can take advantage of the special lounge for SkySuite folks which includes free food, beverages, and their wine/cheese pairings. Look under experiences at the special website, www.ariaskysuites.com for all the other goodies too.

I really liked the way that the Mirage Tower Suite was laid out. I like spending time on that property, also. As far as the room goes it's nothing compared to the Aria Sky Suite. I'd also factor in that you'll have a few days at MGM to take on South Strip. I'd strike the corner suite from my list, personally and then it would come down to how much you like staying at Aria vs Mirage. It sounds like Mirage has the edge in that category, so the last factor is if you like Aria enough to take the better room in place of the property you like a little more.

Am I missing something here? The corner suite looks BETTER than the one bedroom Skysuite in both youtube videos and on the virtual tour on the website.

Originally I was under the impression that the Penthouse Skysuite is what we would be getting but after further review the standard one bedroom Skysuite doesn't look very appealing. It reminds me of the standard suite at TheHotel.

The corner suite has the awesome bedroom setup with all the windows and a bathroom tub with view. The Mirage suite appears to be laid out much better and has a table and better bar area. It doesn't look dated at all in recent Youtube videos.

The only room I was really cancelling out has been the Skysuite. I don't even see how the room itself is better than the corner. Am I missing something? The limo is of no use to me ( we will have a car), The lounge has some muffins, coffee and wine and the separate entrance isn't that big of a deal. So what about the Skysuite is worth an extra $300?

I had the pentouse suite in my head as well. The real difference would be the quality of furnishings, high floors, etc. The tower suite wins out over the corner suite for me, as I said above. Aria is newer and a little more upscale, but the Tower Suite is probably my favorite room that I've had.

We booked the first three nights in a tower suite, then a night at Golden Nugget and two nights in a Grand King at MGM. I think we made a good choice for us and appreciate the help and opinions.

    Thanks!
