I rent only from Thrifty. If you check daily and use Blue Chip, you should not pay more than $13 per day plus taxes and charges for mid size.

I check them all every day. I had my reservation for a standard for Mon-Fri for $135, but yesterday, I re-booked it for a mid-size for $115.

I'm still reaching for the sub one hundred mark!

Does the $115 figure include all additional taxes, fees, etc?

I found a base rate of around $120, but when you add all the mandatory taxes & fees, the total price rises to around $200.

    That's everything, yes.

It was back up to about $235 yesterday, so it was a very small window.

Thanks for all the info. I'm just trying to learn here.

So, it's possible to get these tremendous rates just by checking the Thrifty.com website? I need no special promo codes or anything else?

    Thanks again.

I used the AAA code for my state. It saved my a bit more than the norm, but if I recall, the regular rate was about $135 all in.

You have to hunt! I have the luxury of being able to log on several times a day, and I do! Most times, the rate you see in the morning doesn't change, but once in a while you get a break.

Side note: Being a member of the Blue Chip, or any other club helps. Your car is all set up, and the people at the kiosk just tell you, "Your car is over there". Thus, when you book with AAA or any other "membership" code that requires you to show that ID, they never look at it!

You can book using a special and not worry about it if you're not really a member.

my last two trips I searched on carrentalsavers.com and found great prices.

the search engine automatically inputs any coupons and codes available and lists all the different companies.

I got a midsize from Alamo for 140 a 6 day rental and the best I could get on the alamo site was around 185

a couple other companies came up cheaper but I like alamo.

I just knocked my price down to $110, and upgraded two sizes, to Full Size for my trip over the 4th of July.

If you are going the week of the 4th, book right now for VERY good deals!!!

    I could have re-booked the mid-size for $105, but I like a bigger ride.
