    My Trip Report

    The Royalist Trip of All
    June 1-June8

We were married at The Little Chapel of Flowers June 2, 1999. We spent this anniversary at Paris for 2 nights and 5 at the Rio with plans to play in the WSOP daily deepstacks and win our way into bigger WSOP events. We only played in 4 tournaments because we were on such a heater in the casino that it seemed a waste of hours for little reward in the bowels of live poker. Well, that's how I felt---Pete has more fun playing live poker than me , but even he wanted to stay where so much winning was going on!
We arrived around 3pm on Saturday and checked into Paris--booked a premiere view red room--was "upgraded" to a P room with a back view. We're just so happy to be here! Happy 14th !

We went down and had a martini at the Diamond lounge and hit the floor. We love video poker and Triple Play or SuperTimes Pay are our faves and lately we play .50. It almost has the thrill of $1 poker, but for half the price! LOL Got lucky right away--

Then Pete hit a 3 times four aces on STP.

We played and played --finally went to the room still up a few hundred. It was late (early?) but we were hungry so we had very tasty room service.

That went well, so we had real coffee the next morning.

Sunday was our anniversary, and we had reservations for Gordan Ramsay Steak. We went to TR to claim those mystery $100 dinners for last years Diamond, and received them without question. Very nice--we were not Diamond yet for this year, so it was a nice bonus. We used them both up at G.R's--which made the food taste even better! We enjoyed our meal there very much and had awesome service.

We had free tickets to Jubilee next door at Bally's, and we also sat through that this evening. We saw Follies at the Trop years ago, and I thought Jubilee would be close in quality. It was not. It was too long, too slow, a little boring, and the lead dancer hated all of us. The sets & costumes were VERY GOOD. The cast works hard, but there's that Bitch Lead. The Feats of Strength were cool, but went on a little too long as well. No comedy. And the lead really did not look happy (and bitchy). So, that was disappointing, but then we got to gamble some more!

After supper & the show , more luck!

    And again!

Another night of unlimited gambo--and still up for the trip. Holy moly! Racking up bonus tier credits as well, looking like we'd both make Diamond before the end of the trip. Tomorrow, we move to the Rio! We figured the winning was probably over (we've been casino-ing for 15 years! we know you're supposed to lose! we have! lol) and at least we'd slow down playing in the poker room.
Our check in at Rio went great and we were upgraded to a Masquerade Suite! The view was incredible--180-degree view of the city with floor to ceiling windows. It was the biggest room we've ever had! It was worn, but awesome for us! 5 nights with that room was just the best. Pete went and played in the 3pm tourney, and I hung back in our room for awhile --- rested and enjoyed the fact that we had that suite!

Went down and met Pete at his first break--he was doing good and having fun playing poker--so I took the long walk back to the casino and goofed off on some new Wizard of Oz slots I found--cashed out 300 up after I played long enough to get bored. Took my winnings to invest in some VP.
Lost it all but played over an hour. Went back to the room ---not long after Pete got knocked out of his game and came up to enjoy the sunset with me in our highroller suite!

After that , we went down to play more VP. Had a good time, but was down almost 1000 , when I got this:
Alright!!! This will NOT be a "royal-less" trip!! Played & played--love recycling their $$$ for status! LOL Finally went and had cheeseburger and called it night around 2am.

Tuesday we slept in --had coffee and enjoyed our room until time for the 3pm tourney. Pete got knocked out after the first break and I made it until just after the second break. These tournys had over 1000 players each time--they went on into the wee hours! Since the night was kinda young, we went over to the Tuscany, where we had over 300 in comp dollars, and had supper at their fine Italian place and played some to keep those comp dollars active. We didn't win, but we had fun--we like their small, quiet casino. At this point, we're feeling more normal, as we worked our way down a couple of grand for the trip.

Wednesday, I woke up with a sore knee and grumpy. I told Pete I really didn't feel like grinding away with 1000 hoodie donning, headphone wearin', and /or old fart retirees---and walking 10 miles to do it. My left knee said "Stay in the suite". So me & my knee & some advil rested on the 36th floor, and Pete went and battled the poker masses alone. A few hours later, Pete was out of his tourney (deep but no cash). We played in the casino awhile, when Pete noticed he'd passed the 15,000 TC's needed to be Diamond. Yay! Let's go claim a new $100 dinner! We go to the Rio's TR desk and make a deal outta making Diamond, they swipe the card, yep, that's the mark, you be diamond again, her brow dips, clickty click, wait, no, you've already received your 100 dinner on Saturday.
Pete says, No, can't be , I only had about 8000 TC's then, they said it was for last year.
She says, No. Can't be, this reward is only for new diamonds this year, so that was it.
Pete says, No. I WAS NOT Diamond yet, so why would they give it to him before he met the requirement? HAD to be for last year.
She says, No. See? April 1st was when this started.
Pete says, So, I DON'T get a dinner for making Diamond?
She says, Yes, you do. You got it Saturday.
Pete says, No. I wasn't diamond yet. So, I DON'T get a dinner for making Diamond?
She says, Wait while I consult with someone else. Then she came back and again made the point that this was a new thing , that it was impossible to get it for last year. To which we made the point that it was impossible we had the points to receive the reward before now. We said we're just trying to understand....gonna play dumb till they get that THEY made the mistake, not us. She finally wrote us a comp for 100 and we took it.
Point is, all of us who have claimed the $100 dinner before making Diamond this year should expect issues at TR for another voucher after you pass that 15,000 mark.

Headed back to VP where Pete had several "4 to it" opportunities, when he finally did catch the card he needed:

TWO royals in one trip --never heard of for us!! We are EVEN again. Almost 5 nights in and we're still even money on the trip! WINNAH!
This Royal started a celebration that ended with 5 chocolate martinis each and we went to sleep without having anything to eat that day.

Thursday morning we ordered a big room service breakfast to make up for the accidental diet we went on Wednesday! LOL It was lovely sitting at the table looking out at the city having breakfast.
We're just having unheard of luck, and truly enjoying and appreciating our good fortune.

Pete went looking for a pen he lost, when he discovered even our couch was giving up jackpots---he found these items in the cushions:
    Even our furniture was hitting!!

Pete decided he didn't really care to mess with the WSOP since we were having way more fun in the casino---and we were definitely making more $$ in the casino.
Headed down in the early pm to play and try to lose again--did lose some on slots, but had fun. Went back to VP--when Pete hit one on STP:

    And I got some aces.

Then we took our bonus illegal 100 dinner voucher to Buzio's for some fish--we had fish & chips and blackened tiger shrimp which was very very good , but I only remembered to photo the fish tacos we had to start:

Then we went upstairs to the suite to enjoy another sunset and the groovy views :

Then back for more gambling---'cause we could. LOL Then the damnest thing happened to me:
SHUT UP!!! THREE?? Now we're sure we're being punked by Ceasars Entertainment. Somehow.
Three Royals in one trip--hearts, clubs, now diamonds. Seems by law we should have one in spades too! LOL Pete says better not push it. LOL
Up late playing, then to bed before our last full day and we're 500 up on the whole week.

Slept in on Friday, enjoyed coffee and reminiscing about the trip so far--best one financially we've ever had--we leave tomorrow so how much damage can we do? We're up! We decided we would buy tickets for Carrot Top for our last night in town. Then we headed down to the casino to play until it was time to go to Luxor. Lost over 500 each and had to go back up to the room for travel money feeling donk-ish, but not too bad since most of our bankroll is still intact. We'd just grab some more cash and let Carrot Top cheer us up. We still had a little time , so we played some more VP before we left-- I start playing SupertimesPay and I hit this:

I let Pete know that obviously our plane is going to crash on the way home. This is NOT our luck.
    Weeeeeeeeee
Off to Carrot Top! He doesn't have to cheer us up, he's just icing on our Friday night cake.
We wandered around Luxor before the show and had drinks and apps at Tequila & Tacos.

The show was great! A yuk a minute! Surely made up for the very ho hum Jubilee.
Our taxi driver to the Rio sang to us the whole way with a mike & wanted us to sing too--he called it "Cabbie-oke"--LOL . Unique cab ride --he got a good tip.
Back at the Rio we went to our favorite VP AllStar machines and played and played --not losing too much, and not caring much if we do, because we STILL have almost all the money we came with. We also tried our luck (since we were having some) at higher denoms--we lost overall, but a couple of good things happened.

Then it was back to the AllStars to play uneventfully for awhile.
Pete went to play a Megabucks slot nearby --"All we need now is to win this annuity!!"
That's when the truly unthinkable thing happened to me.....

    "I drew it!"

All I could think was: Pete is going to shit his pants. Pete! Get over here! He was so excited ! He hollered and carried on and took my pic--people gathered, congrats, congrats, the nice lady counted SIXTY bills into my hands---it was glorious!! We played all night--literally. When we got back to our room, the sun was coming up.

Then we took a nap, got back up around 10am, packed, and then decided to have lunch at American Grille so we could play VP too. Burgers & VP--fun! Then we hit some aces right before we quit:

Good grief!! We paid our rooms charges with cash and checked out. At the airport, we played & lost a couple of bills each when our plane was delayed. Flight home was fine , watched "This Is 40" on the Kindle (very cute movie), and then we landed back in Nashville. PHEW!!! Drove home and then did a final count---we made it home with 4.5K MORE than we took. And SIX Royals.
    BEST.TRIP.EVER.
    Thanks Las Vegas!
    Happy Gambo!

    Congratulations on the anniversary!

The gambling... I'm just speechless. Not only by the number of Royals, but also the # of quad aces.

    I bet I know where you're going for your 16th anniversary.:evillaugh

Great report with all the pics and some serious VP hits.

I like VP. I'm a VP player. But I have to make the point ... all those Royals and Aces at $0.50 triple play and 'only' $4500 profit. It's a tough game. Just seems like a dream gambling trip should end with a bigger profit.:confused2:

Sounds like a great trip. Congratulations.

    Joe's right!

    LOL
That's true! Breakfast at the Rio was $87!
We did whatever we wanted--gambled like assholes, over tipped EVERYBODY, bought stuff at gift shop prices, both re-made "diamond", bought show tickets---that profit was after ALL expenses. It was more than we ever hoped for. WE HAD FUN without stressing over a penny. Bringing home what we saved for the trip was an extra jackpot, too!

    Lotto Time

Definitely time for you both to buy Megabucks lottery tickets! I think the odds of winning it must be better than the odds of all the royals and AAAA hands you got at the Rio. What an incredible run!
