My tendency to overthink things like this is getting to me, so I figure I'd let others overthink for me.

Here's my debate. We've split our last few trips, starting out at FSE hotel on the weekend and then relocating to the strip for three or four nights. This time we're starting at the D for two nights (June 29-30) but then surprised ourselves by considering a move over to the Golden Nugget for the final four nights. In that scenario, we'd likely drive to the strip area each day for meals at some personal favs like Ellis Island and Battista's, but come morning my wife would be in position for her favorite pastime - rolling out of bed and playing $5 blackjack for a couple of hours.

Well, today we got a great rate offer from Mirage for the final four nights and are back at Square One. We want a great pool and know that both Mirage and Nugget have one, but I want good poker options (advantage Mirage area) while both my wife and I want low limits (advantage Nugget).

Will there be $5 blackjack on Monday-Thursday in the mornings near Mirage? The answer to that question could seal it, but probably not given my always-churning brain. Where do we stay?

I was expecting/hoping that sentence to end differently than it did.

Anyways, although $5 blackjack at Mirage is unlikely, you're directly across from Casino Royale, where I'd be surprised if they didn't have $5 blackjack. You'd have to leave the hotel and cross the street, so it might require a little more effort than rolling out of bed and taking the elevator down, but it's definitely "near Mirage".

Me too on the wife comment. Oh well...

I did think of Casino Royale but want to say they had those crappy 6-5 BJ rules last time I was there. What about the Quad? And does anybody know if Bellagio still has that single $5 BJ table going 24-7? Nothing like being cheap in opulence.

Casino Royale is your best bet. Stayed at Harrahs in October and there were 2 I saw at 7 AM on Friday and Sat morning. Damn 3 hour time difference always kills me for a few days.

to relocate or not to relocate

When I stayed at the Mirage this past February I played $5.00 blackjack in the mornings. I also spent some time at Casino Royale and if I remember correctly their $5.00 tables were blackjack switch. Interesting but not my cup of tea. I had no problem finding $5.00 tables at Imperial Palace.

As has been said, Mirage often has $5 blackjack in the mornings. Especially during the week.

Thanks for all the help. I think we've decided to spend three nights downtown with a rental car, then drop the car at Treasure Island before finishing our visit with three nights at Mirage.

Just got back about a week ago and the Quad pretty much has $5 blackjack all day and Harrah's had it available in the mornings during the weekdays.

Congrats on what sounds like a great upcoming trip.

Last time I was there Mirage sometimes had $5 BJ on weekday mornings - always gone by late afternoon. Casino royale has $5 obviously, but a lot of their tables are BJ switch so can be hard to get on a table when busy. Monte Carlo is also a decent option to check out - also sometimes have $5 BJ in the mornings on weekdays.

As for Bellagio - yeah, they do often have one $5 table weekdays as well. But, it can be pretty hard to get on to and if I'm not wrong it also disappears when things get busier.

Meanwhile, a little more of a walk - but Harrahs, Quad, Flamingo, also give you a decent chance of finding a $5 table.
