Checked into Rio yesterday, had comped regular room. Did not ask for any particular room or do 20 dollar trick, but was given Samba King Strip View room. Photos for anyone interested are attached. Strip view is from Caesars to Excalibur. Room 25028 in Masquerade Tower. Nice room, but basically a renovated regular room.

    Thanks for the pictures.

Huh, I thought they said they had converted the tub/shower combo to a shower stall.

That is what I had read also, but they did not, at least not in my room.

This is the second set of pics I have seen of this type of room. Looks like they removed a chair or two. Everytime a vegas hotel redoes a room I swear they take away furniture. Big pet peeve of mine. At one time Rio had a desk/chair, table w/2 chairs and a sofa....

I was at Rio a couple of weeks ago in a Premium Strip view room in the Ipinema Tower, and i had a desk/table with 2 chairs, a sofa chair with ottoman, a sofa, coffee table, two end tables with draws on both sides of my King bed, a mini sofa at the end of the bed (futon?), and 2 end tables with the sofa. I was going to upgrade to the Samba, but decided to upgrade to a Premium with Strip/Pool solely based on the view. Although i prefer staying on the Strip, i fell in love with Rio and once again will consider it in 2014 (i'm booked at Caesars and Bally's for the rest of 2013). My main hesitation with Rio prior to my trip, were the shuttles.........they exceeded my expectations as well as the Hotel.
By the way, the flat screen was not in front of the window, it was on the other side which allowed me to watch TV on the bed, at the table, at the sofa and/or the sofa chair. The TV slides out and you can turn the TV in any direction.

I had a Samba Suite last month. It looked exactly like the pictures posted above.

    Tub/shower combo......no separate shower stall.

I hope I can score one of these when I check in later this month. I have had good luck getting free upgrades before at Paris to a Red room and Flamingo to a Go room.

You are welcome to everyone who said thanks. Didn't show in photos, but empty mini fridge and mini bar are both located in cabinet under TV.
