    7. Hammer/Bolan - Four Queens - Tues.-Fri. - $10

The Hammer/Bolan parlay (#7) combines both shows and takes into account using discounts available at the casino and a $10 matchplay coupon distributed at the Hammer show.

From the LV Advisor web site.
Looking for comments on these shows.

    Thanks.

I have found some comments about Hammer.
    What about Bolan?
    Anyone seen him?

Hammer's show is very high-energy and lots of fun. Jay's show is quite mellow and intimate.

I have seen Mike Hammer and it was a good way to spend an hour. I would go again.

Mike Hammer's show is a lot of fun. He is quick witted, and loves to interplay with the audience.

Went to both last Wed. Well worth it---Hammer is really funny and talented. Do yourself a favor and go see Jay after Mike's show. Amazing musician and he even takes requests!

BTW--they are very liberal on you taking your own drinks into the Canyon.

Best low cost show options downtown.

    Yes to Hammer.
Used a BOGO Free Coupon to buy 2 VIP seats.
Cost was about $33 for 2 seats front/center 2 drink tickets and meet/greet.
Hammer pretty much meets & greets everyone anyway, only advantage to VIP is being able to be seated first.

YES & NO to Jay Bolan.
Got FREE tickets to Jay Bolan from the LVA website...you don't have to be a member. One free ticket per registered email account.
Jay cancelled the show the night we had booked. He had a stomach flu or somesuch.....Was given option to re-book for next night, but we were already seeing Hammer & didn't feel like doing 2 shows in a row. We were given 2 drink tickets for the inconvenience.
I was really sad about missing this show because I was really looking forward to a nice mellow experience. It's described as "One guy, 3 guitars and 3 Beers." He pretty much gets on stage and plays, takes some requests if the mood strikes him and keeps playing until his 3 beers are gone.

The 4 Queens theater is surprisingly close to the casino, larger than I thought. in fact they really only use less than half of the theater & there are NO bad seats in the house. The farthest seats are still 30 feet or less from the stage. they only use 1 of the bars and the decorations are eclectic, vintage, and funky. The setting was intimate and gave the feel of faded & historic luxury somehow.

Would I recommend Hammer? Is it your first magic show ever? Then yes, sure but only at a super duper discount. There's really only 4 actual tricks during his show, the rest is smack talk and filler. It's clean/safe for kids and he's a really polite midwest guy. (Chicago) Would I go again? No.

Would I recommend Jay Bolan? With FREE tickets? ABSOLUTELY! Wish I could have seen him. Would I go again? Yes, because it's FREE & I didn't get to see him the first time.

I saw Bolan using the LVA free tickets and plan on returning next trip. The show is pretty laid back - just him, a couple of beers and several guitars. He does lots of 60's music with some 70's, 80's and takes requests.

I went to both shows solo last November.

At the Mike Hammer Show I was petrified that he would single me out like he did for more than a quarter of the audience. It’s a small theater and nowhere to hide. That said, the best part of the show was him riffing off the audience , quite funny at times. I’m not a big ‘magic’ show person -too impatient for the big ‘reveals’, so I enjoyed his comedic banter in between the magic. In fact, the magic was very secondary to the banter. I would go again in the safety of a group, but not solo.

Jay Bolan was an UnVegas-like treat. As others said the show is quite intimate and you almost feel like you’re at someone’s apartment for an impromptu performance. I really enjoyed his song selection and renditions of some classics like ‘Goin to California” (I think he did this on his 12 string?). He’s a talented acoustic player with a lovely raspy voice. If you want to really mellow out for a while, this is a great show. I would go again solo or in a group. Plus it’s free with the LVA coupon. A definite bargain downtown.

I loved Jay Bolan. I got free tickets from LVA but I would pay to see him. I initially didn't want to go he started at 9:30 and by then I just want to sit at the bar and play VP but I hauled my butt in and WOW I am so glad I did. 6 guitars, he takes requests, knows all kinds of music (or as he said he can fake the ones he only semi-knew) and was just fabulous.

I also had tickets to see him in May and he was out with food poisoning, he was out for a long time so he must have been really sick or it was a contract dispute LOL. I was really bummed after talking him up. Seriously when you arrive he has 2 beers sitting in a bucket on ice but if he is having fun and folks buy he will drink more and play longer. He also bought rounds for the first person guessing titles and artists. I just really enjoyed this show.
