Thought I would share this bit of information; I called the Four Queens today to confirm my reservation for this weekend and asked if the Binion's Pool was open and available for use by those staying at Four Queens.

The answer was no (pool is closed) but the Four Queens has an agreement with the Plaza for use of their pool. If you show your 4Q room key/card to the Plaza front desk then they will issue you a card/pass to their pool.

Given that LV is experiencing a heat-wave (even hotter than what they are used to), this is welcome news to me. I know the Plaza pool isn't up to Strip standards but I'm happy it's an option to beat the heat!

That sounds like a smart move by the Plaza. Some people will decide to stay at the Plaza on their next trip or mate is in the casino playing, etc.

Thanks for the update! I would have thought they'd work it out with The D's pool -- it's closer and hardly ever used.

    Plaza pool?

That's good to know, although I really liked Binion's pool. What's the Plaza pool like? We'll be there in two weeks.

Thanks! Thats great to know. On facebook, they are speculating that the pool at Binions wont be open until July at the earliest.

The Plaza pool is a basic hole in the ground with water. It is about 6 feet deep, square, and heated to a comfortable temperature. I have never seen it over crowded. The lounge chairs are basic. Here are a couple pics, but the cabanas were not there a couple of weeks ago....

I loved the description of the Plaza pool in a recent trip report (one of the ones that mentioned the recent punk music festival downtown) .....it said "if prison had a pool this is what it would be like"

    I laughed

I found the pool area to be pretty good for downtown last july.

not a lot of shade and hottt! but water was nice and clean, nice view and the frozen pool bar drinks were good and reasonably priced.
