On another thread on Vegas Message Board, I happened upon Oyster.com photos of a high limit room at "The D". I have stayed at Fitzgerald's and The D many times, but I never knew they had a high limit room. (Obviously, I am a low roller!!!) Where is it in the casino... what is it near? Has anyone seen it or played in it? What are the minimum bets? Help!!!

The D High Limit Room (actually more of an alcove) is against the Fremont Street outside wall. Sort of "under" the outside escalator to the 2nd Floor. The High Limit Room is part of the transformation from Fitzgerald to The D. There used to be penny slots in this area when it was the Fitzgerald.

I was there in February, and didn't see many players in the High Limit area.

I played in the D high limit "room" when I was there last month. It is not really a room but just a couple steps up to a raised alcove with a couple tables there. Sitting down, i faced out to the tables on the main floor so could watch the dancers. I think one or two tables of bj and 1 table of baccaret. I played both bj and bac but cant recall the table minimum.

It was $25 and $50 BJ when I played there in jan. and yes, those photos are accurate. The host will come and greet you if you play there and probably buy you a meal. It's happened every time I've been there

$25 BJ is what I played there. Good rules. Plus it is a little quieter than out on main floor from the blaring music. Still loud but a bit less. Plus not busy and fast drink service. I like it as I prefer a less crowded table when playing and don't mind one on one at times.

Are the rules for BJ good? I was in there a few weeks ago and was this close to taking a walk up there and playing but I would have been the only one. Now I wish I did.

If you are going to play quarters, you have so many options for good rules on the strip that it isn't worth it to search out one game.

I played about 80% of a baccarat shoe in their "high limit" room and not a single soul was in there with me except for my brother who came with me. $25 min but if you want to squeeze the cards then its $100. What sense that makes ill never understand, Golden Nugget does the same thing.

Baccarat is also a 4% comission game and was told that I'd receive no comps playing 4%. If i wanted comps they would raise the comission to 5%. Baccarat players beware.

Enlighten me please...what does squeeze the cards mean?

You get to touch them? Obviously not a bacc player, but still curious.

Yes, $100+ and the players get to hold the cards. Many of the Asian players I've played with call it squeezing. I suppose that's a reference on how the players look at the cards.

Somewhat off-topic, but can someone explain the appeal of Baccarat to me? There appears to be no strategy and they might as well have a guy in a tuxedo flip a coin in the air and ask you "heads or tails?"

I know slots doesn't involve any real skill as well but at least the experience is very sensory in nature and there is the chance of a big win.

Apologies for the thread-hijack. I will be staying Downtown and plan to check out the D more this time around.

It's just like any other game, to win money.

I too saw the room when I was there in April. I thought about going up, since I was playing quarters, but I would have been the only one in there (late morning).

The Golden Gate's high limit room is the same way, more of an alcove where you look out at the floor. Again, I would have gone up there, but I would have been the only one in the room, not just at a table.

But if what you say about getting a free meal, etc. is true, I may just have to check it out. If I'm going to play quarters anyway....

I was just there to check out the dancing dealers I kept hearing about, there was a $50 DD game I played 2 hands @ 50-150 at, $25 shoe and baccarat. Rules were ok I think it was H17 DAS though. Took me for a few limbs and the pit guy and dealers were really nice but I didn't see any host or get any meals.

    Tables only?

Is the high limit area for table games only or are there also slots? If slots, what are the minimum bets?
