VMB has been great for showing me the ways of low-rolling. I travel with someone who has a big bankroll, whereas I have maybe 1/20th of her coin.

However, you can still have a pretty good hit on a low-roll bet, I've discovered.

I was playing L'il Lucy slots with a five-dollar bill, in full "I give up" mode, and betting .30 a hit. I suddenly got five pink piggie banks in a row which was a fifty DOLLAR hit on a thirty-cent bet! I know better than to think "oooh, if only I were betting max" because I would likely not have hit that formation. Anyhoo, fifty bucks got me back in the game. Shortly after, another .30 cent hit won me a $15.00 spin on the wheel bonus.

I've also hit .20 cent bets and made $54.00 and $72.00 hits. I find Aristocrat games are great for lowrolling because you can play reels 1-3 or 1-4, instead of all five reels.

My personal best low-rolling story was at Mandalay Bay and betting .13 on Hexbreaker and somehow working my way up to ten dollars.

Would love to hear similar stories for those of us who bet low.

One of those "Wild and Crazy" games that has the "5 mystery free plays" which can be a free spin, 8 free spins, a free gift (of credits) and so on...

Got the mystery the "Free Spin," landed on what you see below, and it just kept saying "Let's pay that again"

I had $20 into the machine and I had almost just sat down at it

Oh, I was playing .90 cents

Last summer I had a $125 line hit on Aristocrat's Wicked Winnings with only $0.25 bet, and got a $100+ bonus on Bally's Gaucho's Gold @ $0.30 bet. More recently, I got a $100+ bonus with $0.40 bet on Buffalo at Red Rock, and $115 bonus on Monopoly Jackpot Station with $0.30 bet at Tropicana.

    I like this thread!

I won $30 on a ten-cent spin on a King of the Nile slot machine at Flamingo. Also, I got the 100 free spins once on a Peacock slot machine (original bet was 20 or 25 cents, I think). I believe I ended up with about $70 after the free spins.

When playing blackjack at The Quad this April, I was playing $10/hand and I placed a $5 sidebet on the straight flush. The straight flush hit and my $5 sidebet won $150.

    $1120 from a .08 cent bet

At Belagio this past March my nephew was waiting for the rest of us to play and decided to play the machine next to us. Put in $5 and played 1 line at max for all of .08 cents per line. After a few spins the machine went crazy, he thought he won $11 ! Turned out to be for $1120.00

Bob thats an awesome hit on an .08 bet. Ok I don't play slots very often and I don't get a chance to find a casino often so the two "big hits" from a low roll for me would be
    1. My last trip to Vegas in October at the craps table at the Stratosphere I parlayed an any craps bet in the middle of my roll. One dollar for me and one dollar for the crew. When it hit the dealers and others at the table erupted, yea I split 122 dollars with the dealers but the odd of that actually hitting were slim.

    2. I was in Montana at one of their "casino's", don't remember what game I was playing but hit a 48 dollar winner. On a nickel bet playing single spins. Needless to say I cashed out and left.

The only time I won anything worth remembering on a slot machine was in 2001. With my last 75 cents of my entire 21 st bday trip money, I hit red-white-and-blue sevens on the second pay line. I thought the machine had broke because all I noticed was the any ol sevens win for $20 on line one. This was a coin dropper and the machine was making a groaning sound like it had the flu in addition to the wheels going haywire. After five min of me sitting there with the service light on a janitor came up and said I was very lucky and peeled off the second highest jackpot for that machine. So with 75ยข I got a handpay for $1225.25 ( I truly can't remember why they gave me the extra quarter} I don't know that I would play as much as I do now w/o that particular win.

You guys are all talking about low rolling with slots, how about a low rolling table story. Years and years ago, I was playing in the National Backgammon Championship at the Dunes, I think it was 1988, maybe. Anyway, I did terrible in the tournament and terrible in the side cash games. I had 2 days left in trip, and a whopping $20 to gamble with. I happened on this strange game called Pai Gow Poker at Slots of Fun. It was a $5 minimum bet but table was full. I proceeded to side bet on a guy that was doing pretty good and turned my $20 into $200 after about 10 hours of play. (yes, eventually, someone left and I got to sit down). I still love Pai Gow to this day. :D

My biggest hit when "low rolling" is a slot machine I fell in love with on my first trip to Vegas, "Texas Tea". I played on it for a few hours at Mirage that Friday night on one dollar.

Fast forward ~9 years later, and I was at a racino in Alabama betting 18 cents a spin (2c per line), and all of a sudden, it spits out 5 "Texas Tea" symbols for $200 on one line!! My first slot jackpot ever! Technically, since it was Alabama where bingo must determine all electronic gambling wins, I technically achieved a random bingo pattern covering ~22 spots in ~48 calls or less, but whatever, I'll take it! Unfortunately, this was before I realized taking pictures of hits was a cool idea.

I also hit 5 oil derrick symbols at IP, er I mean Quad, on my first trip back after that initial Vegas trip 10 years later while betting 45c a spin, but I got screwed by a poor result, $9. As you can see from this pic, I could have possibly won 945 x $0.05 = $47.25. Whenever I am at Luxor this machine is a must play for me.

Then I have had two big hits while in Vegas playing video poker for cheap entertainment/booze:

Only Royal in Vegas (at Flamingo):

Wish I was playing for more of course since it was dealt and a multiline player's dream, but the main reason I was playing this machine was its great view of the "Pleasure Pit".

My next biggest Vegas hit was last trip earlier this month:

The paytables are terrible at the Mirage Sports Bar, so I was just playing one quarter so I can get comped drinks. Earlier I was playing 30/6/5 Bonus (94.94%-one coin) because this was their best game sadly, and I try to play the best VP possible generally for a given location. After burning a few bucks playing this and being my last night in Vegas, I said "screw it" and move to 7/5 DDB (94.48%-one coin), and possibly their second best game...lol Glad I did, because this hand would have only paid 30 quarters or $7.50 on 30/6/5 Bonus. But now it was better than a Royal for me!!

I have hit Aces with a kicker once in Deuces Wild and once in 35/8/5 Bonus Poker (while playing 5 quarters, ouch), but never in DDB until now. Ironically, my g/f, who plays much less video poker than I do, has hit this exact hand in the same order, A3AAA, at a bartop in Tunica while playing DDB for one quarter as I taught her a good lesson in the cheap drinking arts. She had an easier route though, she was dealt 4 Aces for that hand and redrew the kicker. Not surprisingly, she loves to play DDB now if she is taking a break from the slots.

I live in Oregon and we have Indian casino's here, anyway I was at Chinook Winds Casino on my 1st wedding anniversary betting 0.25 and hit the grand progressive for $2618. It was an incredible anniversary trip after that. I have only been to Las Vegas 3 times and have never had super big hits there, but am hoping I will on my next trip.

Hate to break it to you, but betting a quarter at a time, that's likely a once in a lifetime hit. I can't think of a single slot in Vegas that could even pay you that much for a $0.25 wager, and I can think of only two video poker machines that could pay you roughly that amount for a similar wager, which is my current favorites: Super Times Pay and Double Super Times Pay. For a $0.30 wager on Super Times Pay, you have roughly 1 in 15 million chance to win $2000 (10X multiplier with a Royal flush dealt or drawn), or in Double Super Times Pay ($0.35 wager), you have a 1 in 9.74 million chance to win $4000 (Dealt Royal with any type of deal multiplier...which is 1 in 15 Dealt Royals on average).

Our first trip to Reno, 1997, I walked into Fitzgeralds and dropped 3 nickels into a machine, back when you still played with coins. Didn't get anything. Drop another 3 nickels in, Jackpot!!! $125.

Our next trip we're up at Tahoe and my wife and I are sitting next to each other playing nickel machines. Guy on the other side of her fed at least 5 $20 bills into his machine just in the time we were there, not sure how much before that. Finally he got up and left and my wife slid over onto that machine after cashing out and getting a bunch of nickels as payout (before TITO). She's playing along not really getting anywhere. I, being the smartass that I am reached over and dropped a nickel in "it's like this" nothing. "ok it's like this" with another single nickel spin. Damnit, hit the "jackpot" but since I only dropped one nickel in it was a pretty dismal payout :grrr:

We still have the backgammon tournaments twice a year in Vegas in the spring and the fall. You should come! This has been my excuse for going to Vegas since 1999, and I get a lot of gambling as well as the backgammon each trip. The next one is Nov. 20-24 at the Flamingo. www.nvbg.com

Maybe this is too big to count.
Just arrived in LV and walked from Flamingo to Wynns. When we got to Wynns our feet were killing us. Lets sit down at a .25 slot machine and rest our poor feet. Put $5 in to enjoy the rest. 3rd pull(.75). Wild/wild/wild = 10,000 quarters = $2,500. Only in LV for 1 hour. Life is good.

At the Argosy in Inidana (now the Hollywood) we threw $20 each in a 10X Pay quarter machine. 75 cents a spin. A few spins in we hit 10x 10x 7 for 15,000 quarters ($3750).

Several years later we do the same thing at 10x machine at the MGM Grand. Hit that one for $1500. 10x 10x single bar if I remember right. I love the 10x machines.

I was staying at my local casino sometime within the past year and wasn't doing too well on blackjack early on and I still wanted to get some play so I sat down at a penny slot with a $0.20 minimum bet (20 lines, 1 credit per line) and stuck $20 in. I hit a few decent spins early on and doubled up and decided to play for a while. I ended up playing on that machine for 3-4 hours and cashed out at $200 never having raised my bet above $0.20 because I didn't want to give too much of it back. It would have been a really great win had I been betting more but I was still quite happy considering how little I risked.
