I go to Vegas because I like to Gamble!! This is my entertainment.

Do you go to Vegas primarily to gamble? What is your primary reason to go to Vegas?

the whole experience - gambling, dining, suites/villas, golf, etc. if I just wanted to gamble, I could find a casino much closer.

I'm with shifter on this one. I love to gamble and if that is ALL I wanted out of a Vegas trip I could stay closer to home and have more for gambling. But I love the Vegas vibe. Its the people, the shows, the weather, food that I would never eat back here. It's being able to go around the world in a block so to speak.

I go for business, but manage to find plenty of time for "fun". Count me in on the Vegas "vibe" thing... I can gamble anytime up here at Lake Tahoe, but rarely and I mean rarely do. I'm pretty much just a VP player for a couple hours in the evenings. I like the carefree party vibe I get in Vegas.

I have been to Vegas 3 x now and I could just gamble the whole time, but it is good to force myself and my friend to do something extra (and give the BR a rest!). Of course, the one break I can remember is when we went up to Cosmo to play their $100 card loss reimbursement offer (where I won $600 so thanks Cosmo!) and then we walked our way back down to MGM. Characters on the street, drinking out in public, checking out the other tourists - it's all a feast for the eyes!

For our next trip I have got MvVegas rewards planned - Shark Tank, Australian BeeGees and Criss Angel. Travel partner wanted those and I am pretty easy going about doing anything.

Because we don't live near a casino (well, we do but we hate Canadian casin-NOs!) we get a little crazy when we finally get the chance. For me, it's all about the low-rollin'. I can have a very good time with
.20 bets on an Aristocrat machine with a 100 buck investment, and go for hours.

Gambling in Vegas is definitely a high priority for me. There are casinos in my home state but I seldom bother with them because they just don't have the "vibe" or give me the overall experience. If I'm going to lose my money, I'm going to do it where they treat me right. Home town casinos just don't cut it in that department. I LOVE Vegas. Not only do I enjoy gambling, but I really enjoy world class dining, world class entertainment, and world class shopping. All in one place! And 5-star accommodations feel pretty darn good as well. Viva Las Vegas!!

I like to gamble a bit, and play poker, which isn't gambling :wink2:, but I can do that here at the CT casinos, where I play with the same old curmudgeons (self included) and after a while the vibe is more depressing than fun. Vegas fascinates me. A combinations of its history, architecture, lights, weather, personalities and "entertainment" options. I haven't had any bad experiences crime-wise yet, so I feel safe. It's also a place everyone I know loves and a good meet up spot for friends all over the country. Had so much fun celebrating my friend's 40th there, we vowed we'd keep it going and do the same for our 80th! It's nice to be able to find a game at 3am, but it's not really why I go.

    This exactly.

    Vegas is my entertainment!

I skimp, scratch, and save every penny I have for 3 months, then take it to Vegas and drop it off. I go there for vacation, to get my drink on, and to relax!
I'm not a foodie so decent buffet's, and inexpensive food are my staple. I love to gamble as well. Gambling in Vegas is a hell of a lot more fun than at my local NA casino.

It's all about the whole "Vegas experience" to me. Drinking, gambling, people watching, free shows, the scenery, gambling, the hipsters, the 'homeless' kids with pets on the bridges, the porn slappers, gambling, walking the strip with an open container, the time share sharks, coupon books, gambling, Elvis, and making new friends.

Where else do you get to experience all that and have an enjoyable vacation as well?!?!?!

Gambling is my main reason. I'm a serious low roller ($150/day), but spending that money in Vegas is absolutely awesome. I can't do my local casinos anymore as they don't excite me at all like Vegas does.

The other reason is that I can stay up late, walk around, and sightsee on the Strip/downtown with no agenda or schedule. The "freedom" of not having a schedule is a simple luxury that I absolutely love.

Drinking while gambling is up there, too! I'm not into shows and I'm not a foodie, so shows and food don't do anything for me.

My reasons are exactly the same as yours. I too can not stand the local casinos anymore, they simply are too blah for me (even the nicer ones!) and are a huge letdown after Vegas!!

:drunk:Gambling is the main reason but not the only reason. Everything is just so much more fun in Vegas than anywhere else. My money seems to last longer there. And even when I go through my daily bankroll, the fun doesn't stop. There is always something interesting to see or do.

I live in Hawaii and there are no casinos here. I enjoy gambling in Vegas but often wonder how my perspective would be if gambling was offered here.

Some posters mentioned that their local casinos don't offer the same "vibe" that Vegas offers. Right now I would imagine that gambling at home wouldn't be as much fun as in Vegas.

I do enjoy all of the other wonderful things you can do in Vegas besides gambling. It's a one of a kind place to be, for sure!

I love the vibe, the great food, the fantastic hotels and the free-flowing (and usually "free") top shelf booze.

But if there were no gambling, Vegas wouldn't even be on my radar. Gambling is definitely number one for me (and probably nos. 2,3 and 4).

Total package for sure. Tons of gambling options. Tons of food options. Tons of drink options and no open container restrictions, which blew my mind the first time. I love the architecture and the lights as well. I often find myself just staring up at the buildings when walking the strip. But my favorite part is that since graduating college a few years ago it's the one annual thing that my guy friends and I can all commit to and clear our calendars for. I also like that Vegas has been able to maintain our interest and be a great destination- from our first trip when we had just graduated and all had basically no bankroll to take with us, to now when we can use the trip to go wild and forget about emails, business responsibilities, impending marriage, and so on.

    Atmosphere is different

I go to Vegas to mostly gamble and drink. I've been to Atlantic City, Biloxi, Detroit, and many indian casinos throughout the country. It's just not the same. I would never be intrested in going back to them. If I lived in any of those areas, I would not frequent the casinos. It feels great to wake up in the morning, gamble, drink Jack Daniels, people watch, take in the sights, take a nap, drink some more, see the bands on Fremont street, gamble some more, and I could go on and on and on.
Something about the feel and livliness of Vegas makes it a much more different experience.

We have not found the Vegas vibe anywhere else, there is something about the casinos, variety of entertainment and various food choices to choose from that draws us. Walking the strip is amazing, and I don't understand why people say stay mid strip; the walk is good for you :) It might take all day once you factor in, hydrating :drunk: and gambling at each casino but that is part of the fun!!

Initially, it was primarily to gamble, excluding weekends when there for races, but still gamble when not at some race.
However, I am trying to learn to relax more and do things other than sit at a slot machine. I like a nice suite, I like a nice meal and now trying to take in a couple shows recently.

I can gamble in Florida, be a lot closer and no airfare, but the gaming seems tighter here...Yes, strip gaming seems looser than Florida casinos, like HR Tampa, because there is competition in LV, no competition in Tampa...and there is no variety.....same ol, same ol

A few days in LV is good decompression.

I go for the whole scene, but gambling is right at the top of the list. I only live an hour from 2 world class casinos(Foxwoods and Mohegan) that are great, but nothing beats 5 nights in Vegas. Pools(swim up blackjack!!) world class restaurants, shows, spa, golf, people watching and the ability to act 21 even though I'm 41! While I can't figure out people who go to Vegas and say "I don't really like to gamble" but Vegas does have soo much more to offer
