Just came back to Jersey from Vegas. Had a great time at the Venetian and did okay at 3 card poker and Let it Ride. The Hotel/casino were beautiful but at the pool and in the casino everyone was 25 to 35. Where are the card players that are 40+?

I think you'll find an older crowd at the local's casinos and some of the ones downtown. Try the Cal and Sam's Town. Age has nothing to do with it, but I hardly even visit the Strip these days. (BTW: I'm way over 40.)

They are everywhere I go. Try Rio, Paris, or Bally's. I'll be staying at PHo in July, hoping to find some of that 25-35 crowd!

On second thought, the crowd at Sam's Town might be TOO old for you. You could get banged into by a walker, run over by a scooter, or hit with a cane! Don't get me wrong; I love the place, but that's where "locals bring their (very old) friends!" :)

On the strip your best bet for what you're looking for is Ballys, even the Flamingo. We're 50 and find we are most comfortable there. The strip is just a younger crowd. As we've gotten older the Strip is less appealing, downtown and off strip is more appealing. We look for better gaming, and places that value the middle ager. We loved the Orleans just for that reason and felt at home there.

I have the same thoughts on Sam's Town...Turtleman forgot to add "foot run over by an oxygen tank"...

For the strip, I would tend to agree with this. But I'm 33 and like Bally's (except for gambling...lol) and Flamingo.

If one wants to really ensure an older crowd though, downtown or offstrip is a better bet.

You'll probably get your wish. I spent more time at PHo this last trip, and thought it looked "younger" vs. other CET properties in the evening anyway. If you really, really want young, beautiful people spending mommy and daddy's trust funds, just go across the street to Cosmo.

    Over 40 Gamblers

I think you're probably right. Bellagio is also a little more upscale than some of the others mentioned. thanks.

    Wherever we want ;)

We have seen plenty of people in our general age group playing table games at Mandalay Bay and at Aria.

Also depends on what game it is. See most of them at either roulette and craps. Sometimes at blackjack. Not much in poker though and baccarat. Bellagio, Flamingo, Harrahs, Rio and the outside of the Strip local places tend to visited by many folks over 40+. Especially Palace Station.

Hmmmm... I'm with Kelly on this one - "wherever we want to". Is there some segregation rule that I don't know about??!!:ssst:
Guess I just don't notice age like some people do - My closest friends range from 28 to 76. Sorry can't help you on this - age differences don't matter to me (but maturity levels do!)

    Over 40

I like the social aspect of playing cards and like a mixed crowd. Everyone at Palazzo was 25 -35 I'd say. I will try Caesar's or Bellagio next time, even though I did like the Venetian/Palazzo casino set up.

Yeah, older types often head to the Locals places, know all the food specials and take advantage of bargains.

Usually the biggie themed resorts on the Strip get older more sedate players. Venetian is actually an older crowd most of the time, Aria, Wynn, Bellagio.

Mandalay Beach is changing. (My Cherry Amour costs two grand a pop there). Thats the younger crowd paying prices like that. Us old codgers know better.

Head South to Silverton and South Point and The M... you'll definitely hit the older generation there too.

Alot depends on WHEN you hit the casinos: time of day and day of week. For some casinos its a real Sea Change.

At The Cosmo it is illegal for anyone over 30 to enter the place or cast his shadow upon it.

If you haven't been to Las Vegas for a few years there has been a major downward trend in the average age of tourists.
The town fills up on weekends with the 25 year old club crowd spending big $$ on bottle service.
The hotels have changed marketing approach from gamblers to clubbers.
That being said,I'm over 50 and have stayed exclusively at Aria,MGM,or Bellagio the last 5 years and it really has not bothered me much.
Usually by late Sunday the weekend clubbers are gone and it goes back to more of a gambling town.
