Heading out next Sunday for the first time truly solo. I've gotten comfortable with dining alone due to frequent business travel but am wondering if any of the solo travellers have gone to shows alone. Thinking of booking Rock of Ages and Million Dollar Quartet. Any other tips for solo activities in Vegas (besides gambling and shopping) would be appreciated. I need to find something to get me away from the tables and slots for a bit or this could be a very expensive trip without the distraction of travelling companions. I am planning some pool time with my eReader and some frosty beverages.

I'm not a huge fan of going to shows, but Dan loves it. He's seen several shows alone. One advantage is sometimes you can get a single seat at the last minute for a discount. I'd check Tix4Tonight and the other booth for sure.

I'm not a "show guy." I go when I'm with my wife because she enjoys it. When I go to Vegas solo, i never go to any show.

But if I wanted to see a show and I was solo, I would go without any hesitation. Nothing wrong with seeing a show solo in Vegas. People do it all the time.

This will be my first solo trip as well, although last year went with some mates from work we did go off sometimes and do our own thing, one thing I did do was go and see Rod Stewart on my own as the others didn't want to go.
I do have a some things on the to do list this time including shows but not sure which ones yet.

Shows are easy as a solo traveller. And when I want to get away from the casinos, I usually have a rental car so I can visit a national park or something. Without a car, the best strategy would probably be to play straight tourist and sightsee.

If there is a theatre nearby, then a late afternoon movie is good to avoid the highest heat of the day between 3-5pm and prepare for the festivities of the evening.

I will just say that I agree you need to plan other activities. I had a solo trip that was very expensive because I just sat at the tables for 18 hours a day because there was no one telling me to do anything else.

I do 1 show per night on solo trips 7 shows in 7 nights

Solo or in pair once the show starts it doesnt really matter just dont show up too early and youll be fine

Much easier to get great seat as a solo traveler

I have had fun on solo trips but I never went to a show alone. I like to have someone with me to enjoy the show with. The dining and drinking were just as much fun as they were with a friend or two. As previously mentioned, on danger of solo trips is that you spend more time than usual gambling and that can be dangerous to your bankroll.

I pretty much do the same thing, see a show each night if I'm travelling solo.

I've seen everything from Cirque to stand up in Vegas, and I find them all enjoyable even without a companion.

Hey Breanna - I've never seen Rock of Ages, but can definitely recommend Million Dollar Quartet. Also, check out Menopause the Musical. It is a show that I think you will enjoy, and your husband probably wouldn't like (or understand) it - so take advantage of it while you are solo! And the show times are at 5:30 every afternoon, which is a good time to break up the day and not make you feel like you are "date-less" on a Saturday night!

Good idea Brensan on Menopause the Musical. Boogaloo you are very brave to go to stand-up solo.....yikes if the comedian starts talking to you! Ok, I'm going to brave a show or two solo! Renting a car isn't an option....too much drinking for me in Vegas. Any other ideas are welcome.

Yep that's my worry, typically it's my travelling companions that drag me away from gambling for a bit....often when they wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed and I haven't been to bed yet.

There is a theatre at the Palms where I am staying my first two nights; in 80 plus trips, that's something I've never done. Good idea! If I'm getting my ass handed to me in the casino, that will be a great diversion.

There are some cool antique shops with old time Vegas memorabilia. The gamblers bookstore is pretty cool and then there is the neon sign boneyard. I think there are a lot of themed museums on the strip and throughout Las Vegas. Have fun.:peace:

I have gone on 6 solo trips and have 4 solo nights this July. I'm an avid golfer so that is one thing I do. I have a brother that lives on a course in Vegas so going there keeps me away from the casinos for the better part of a day.

As said in another post going to a movie during the hot months is a good choice. I don't mind that as the wife doesn't like sci-fi/action movies anyways so I can see one that I want if I am close to a theater.

I saw Rock of Ages in London about 6 weeks ago. I really enjoyed it. I am in my mid 30's and I grew up with the 80's hair bands on MTV. It is a fun show. I went to Second City solo before at the Flamingo and I had a great time with the other people around me.

I'm a golfer too but not keen on being put with strangers into a foursome as I only started playing a few years ago....that would make me nervous worrying if I had a crap game I'd be holding them up and the nerves would make my game worse I fear.

I went to Carrot Top alone, and seen the Eagles and Guns N Roses alone. I felt a little weird at both concerts alone, but after awhile it was like "screw it, who cares, I am never going to see these people again" and then it didn't bug me.

I have been to both Elton John and Carrot Top by myself and thoroughly enjoyed both. I also like going to afternoon movies by myself. Haven't done Mac King yet but may do that on my next solo trip next month. I love my solo trips! I do agree that it is important to take time to do things other than gamble all day every day though.
