The seem to try very hard to be something, rather than just being themselves. Posers!

27 percent of Americans say hipsters should be taxed for being “so annoying.” Let’s all take a moment to applaud whoever came up with that question.

This will exceed 50% as exposure grows.

A new Bag (Pabst/ PBR) is born.

    P Bags D Bags T Bags

    Other takeaways:

The most troubling takeaway from these results is that HALF of 18-29 year olds polled consider themselves to be hipsters. We can all thank Lena Dunham and “Girls” for that. This, of course, is not entirely representative of the youth hipster culture, because this poll only surveyed voters.

Forty-six percent of those asked said that they agreed with the interpretation that hipsters “soullessly appropriate cultural tropes from the past for their own ironic amusement.”

    Is this a 24/7 lifestyle?

Or are these kids playing at this on weekends and off time from their successful urban careers? They should have been in Newark the day they closed the PBR brewery and released all the beer on hand to to run down the street into the storm sewer. They could have bathed in PBR.

They are still trying to convert the Pabst brewery here in Milwaukee to apartments, condos & retail etc, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of progress.

Not sure where or who makes PBR these days, but it hasn't been in Milwaukee for over a decade.

EDIT: Google is your friend. "99% of Pabst's products are brewed by Miller Brewing".

EDIT #2 Interesting article from Chicago Tribune.

I wear a fedora all the time, don't smell bad, don't smoke, rarely drink PBR, and love an Old Fashioned. I have been labelled a hipster many a time, but I consider myself more like a Don Draper minus the cheating.

I don't drink anymore (been 29 + years) and I never liked beer. As a kid growing up in the south PBR in my opinion was a redneck - hillbilly beer.
I'd always see empty cans on the side of the road or in the woods. The only Hipster celebrity I can think of is JT and I doubt he drinks the stuff.

I would rather them all be hipsters, than to be the "pants on the ground" type. :rolleyes2:

I think that hipsters are just a subset of the group responsible for such changes. (It's verboten on VMB to say the name of the larger group.)

I owned a bar for 27 years (inherited it when my father died-he opened it in 1946 when he got out of the military hospital following WWII). By the time I was running it full time, PBR was not even in our inventory. Still, I remember helping clean up multiple times as a kid after the local distributor had a .50 cent PBR night for the local junior college kids (back then, the MS beer drinking age was 18) and having to fill multiple bags of PBR cans for the trash back in the 60's.

While I was in college, one of my favorite hangouts did not stock my regular beer (Miller Lite) because the owner had an on-going feud with the Miller distributor. Because of that, I drank PBR regularly for about 3 years back in the mid 70's. I guess I was drinking Pabst before drinking Pabst was considered cool.

Now days I still enjoy a cold Pabst every once in a while and in no possible way could I be classified as a "hipster". At least two bars I occasionally visit still have PBR for a dollar during happy hour. I hope these hipsters don't ruin that price structure.

I grew up in Milwaukee and loved PBR. In high school if our funds were low we'd get a case of Red, White & Blue, made by Pabst, for about eight bucks. The one beer I do miss is Old Style, I wonder if they still make it?

PBR was but one of many beers we drank back in school when we had no money or taste buds. Wow, what a noble collection that was: Mickey's, Schlitz Malt Liquor, Lucky Lager, Rainier, Blitz, Stroh's ... the list of infamy goes on and on. lol

Since when did it become verboten to use "****** bag" around here? While I think it is silly shorthand for whatever it is shorthand for, why is it in the gulag?

Holy Transformation, the thing was auto-vetted.

Remember Pig's Eye, Jman?? That was my HS beer of choice. Loved it. I drink PBR now, when I drink beer. Along with Stella and Heinekens
