    My Trip Report

Well, as I took Mom on a trip back in March, The D was nice enough to send her a nice offer for 3 nights and some free play. She was all excited and called me the day the offer arrived, (you’d think she had just won the lotto or something).

Of course I put my foot in my mouth and joked that we should just load up and go for Mother’s day weekend. Yep, time to start planning.

I picked up the phone and gave The D a call to set up our next adventure.
I booked her room and then inquired why I didn’t receive any offers. (I had rolled about 5X the coin through their system)
The agent looked me up in their system and offered me the same with some extra FP and food. I went ahead and booked my offer, gave my son a call and let him know I had another trip planned as he wanted to attend my next trip.

We loaded up the “Family Truckster” on Thursday afternoon and made Tom Tom’s 6 ½ hour trip in 5 hrs. We arrived around 7:30.
Check in was quick and painless as there was only one person in line ahead of us. We found our rooms, freshened up and walked over to the Freemont for the Buffet. Of course I hadn’t eaten all day so I proceeded to stuff myself until I could hardly move.

After dinner we made our way back over to the D. Mom went back to her room and “Molder JR.” and I found a couple spots at the Long Bar.
(On the Drive up I let MJ use my VP trainer so he would have a better chance of keeping his bankroll intact.)

I slide in a 20 and start playing .25 bonus deluxe and my machine is starting out on the cool side. MJ hits a full house on his 4th hand, 5th hand is a flush, he hits a couple blanks and then this.

Ok a few minutes of high fives and celebration then hit hits me.
I haven’t seen a RF in a couple years, and I find myself making huge mistakes chasing a RF. I settle back down and get back into the grove.
MJ runs his machine down to a grand and heads to the cashier to get his winnings. He comes back to the bar and sits on the other side of me and then it gets funny.

MJ barely gets a fresh beer in front of him and “2 lovely ladies” sit down next to him and start asking him how to play the games.
I see the bar tender heading over with a scowl on his face and I signal to him that I want to watch this develop. He smiles and grabs me another beer.
To make a long story short, the ladies left when I interrupted the conversation asking if they could call their mothers because we were sharing a room and I didn’t want to get bored.
MJ still hadn’t caught on and said “thanks a lot Dad” as the ladies were walking away. Both the bar tender and I lost it from this and I explained to MJ who the ladies were.
I then asked the bar tender how much the subscription to the camera feed that the hookers use is. He just laughed and replied it’s 30%.
I reply sign me up, a $1.50 sounds like a great deal.

The rest of the night was a great time exchanging barbs with the bartending crew and the quads started to pop up.

We finally decided to call it a night around 1:30.

    More to come

Well, I hear Mom moving around in the other room around 7.
I get around and we head down for a few cups of coffee.
We take a tour of Fremont Street and head back to The D around 10:30 when MJ finally gets around and texts me.

We all meet up at the D café for breakfast.
Service was great as usual and I always been satisfied with the quality of the food and they always give you way more than you can eat.
I had my standard sausage and eggs. I only ate about half of my order as I was still bloated from dinner last night. Mom ordered the fruit plate, it looked wonderful and she said it was really good. MJ settled for a biscuit and gravy which he said was good.

Following our breakfast, we played our way through the upstairs casino making sure to hit the Wheel of Fortune slot,
No jackpots and it seemed to me that all the machines up there were just sucking in the money. I was able to make a little redemption at the bar tops but they don’t have my Bonus Deluxe and the quads I hit were not premium.

After about an hour and a half we decided to take MJ on a full tour of Freemont Street.
We worked our way down to MSS gazed at all the antiques.
WE made the loop back around and ended up at the El Co to play some .25 roulette.
We played for about an hour and I learned my lesson from our last visit.
I was playing my normal $1 on 7-20-32-17-5 and had some hits in the first few minutes of the session. This took my $20 buy in up over $100.
The dealer was keeping the wheel at the same speed and giving the ball the same release.
About half way through our session we had a dealer change. Our new dealer was the same older guy that destroyed my buy in last time.

This time I noticed right away that he would do a scan of the board and then adjust the speed of the wheel. I also noticed he was changing his ball release speed and he was doing a real good job of hitting the open numbers and clearing off the board.
After about 5 minutes I dropped my bet to .50 per number and just kept watching.
Finally the dealer and I made eye contact right after he adjusted the wheel speed and released the ball. He gave me a sly smile and after the roll cleared the table again.
On the next roll he looked at me again and I knew it was time to get up.
I cashed out $80 for a $60 profit, threw the old guy a couple bucks and said thank you.

It then took me another 15 minutes to get Mom to color up her chips. As we walked away I explained to her what I saw and why I wanted to get up. Mom ended up with a $35 profit out of our session and wasn’t too sure about my theory.

We spend about 15 minutes looking for MJ and finally find him pounding away at some penny slot, gathered him up and we worked our way back to The D.

We all go back to the rooms to freshen up a bit. I turn on the TV and see the golf tourney is on and let everyone know that I am heading to the Long Bar to watch golf. Of course as soon as I set down they pull all the players off the course for weather.

Mom joins me about half an hour later, as she wants me to watch her play.
Mom is starting to get discouraged with JOB, it just seems to suck up all her money. I only saw her missing some 3 card strait flush draws that I would have considered bypassing myself.
I talked her into switching to Bonus Deluxe and was able to pull a couple full houses which increased her excitement, she even took a picture of the first one.
She is probably high 80’s for correct play and with me sitting there I think I was able to increase it to low 90 percentile. Of course slamming the margaritas probably doesn’t help her game much.

Firday afternoon 1.jpg Friday afternoon 2.jpg

About 4:30 we decided to find MJ and get some food in him so he can make it through the night. We head up to the Café and are seated quickly. I have the sliders and a side of onion rings. Everything at The D café is made fresh and those were the best onion rings I have had in ages. The sliders were awesome also.

We decide to head up to the strip to tour Caesars and The Bellagio.
We made it through Caesars and Mom decided she was tired of walking and wanted to rest.
We found a bar and she ordered up her margarita. I have to say the beers were going down quite well for me also.
    Fri nite 1.jpg

We discussed our plan and decided to just go watch a fountain show and then head over to the Flamingo and see if I could find the Margaretville meet up.

Well we had a few minutes and ended up at the Quad where we proceeded to help them pay for all the renovations.

    Craps, POW -$100,

Move on to BJ, I had the worst run I have ever seen. BAM -$250

Say the heck with it and move over to really bad pay table VP. WHAM -$150

    Judge Judy? Really? IMG_0307.JPG

It’s a little after 8:00, I’m really trying not to go on full tilt so gather everyone up and head over to Margaretville. Stand out front for a few minutes, ask a couple people if they know VMB.
WE go inside and have a drink at the bar and decide to work our way back down town.
We stop a another bar in the Flamingo as we are ready for another drink, I throw $20 into a bar top and get a bit of redemption from the blood bath. We get a second drink and head for the taxi stand.

Fri nite 2.JPG Fri nite 3.jpg

We get back to The D and Mom decided to call it a night and heads up to the room.
I am still on a bit of tilt and decide to chase for a while.
MJ decides I need to change up my drink selection and orders me Vodka Red Bull. Hey, those are good. I think I had 5 or 6 of those bad boys and I was feeling no pain what so ever.

I did make some quads for redemption.

    Saturday

I woke up around 8:00 a bit sluggish,
MJ is sawing logs, I peek in on Mom and she is still sleeping to.

I grab a bottle of water out of the cooler down it and hit the shower.
I get a cup of coffee from McD’s and head outside for a while.

I walk around, browse through some of the shops as they are opening up and finally head back over to The D around 10:30.

Find a spot at the Long Bar and just slowly play VP and people watch.

Around 11:30 I finally hit quad 3’s and when I pull out my phone I notice missed calls from MJ, Mom and a 3rd one from my boss.

    IMG_0312.JPG

I find mom over at the Wheel of Fortune game.
I Let her know I am heading to the room to call in and see what kind of dire, world ending emergency that needs my attention.

I call the boss and he informs me there is an equipment auction in California and we need to be there on Monday morning.

I meet up with Mom and MJ for a bit of lunch and they both are acting like the dog had died or something.

After lunch I head back to the room to start making travel plans.

Mom and MJ show up in the room a few minutes later.

I ask Mom what’s wrong and she just says “I’m done gambling for the trip”. Guess she went on tilt at Wheel of Fortune.

Next it’s MJ, he gave his win back and was really upset with himself for doing it. Live and learn boy, live and learn.

I discuss our options as I needed to be in CA. Monday morning and they decide on option #3 and we load up the “Family Truckster” one day early and head home.

I would have gone for option 1 myself which had me staying an extra night and flying to LA Monday morning.

I came home $287.00 lighter that when I left and was not upset with that.

It would have been a winning trip without the drunken tour of the Quad.

    Notes:
I have enjoyed both my visits to The D and will continue to stay there.
They do turn the volume up at night and leave it up on Saturday.

My next big trip will be in August for the Star Trek convention, always a good time.

Guess MJ "learned" the hard way, but at east he got the royal so he could lose casino money.

    Good TR!

And CET bars are definitely brutal now. 7/5 Triple Bonus Poker Plus is the best that they have left now, and that game was 100% of my bar VP play with CET this last trip. It's about 2.3% better than 6/5 Bonus Poker Deluxe, and it's sad they don't even offer that game for 7/5. But the Quad Catalyst bar has a very nice selection of microbrews at least. :)
