"D" Players Club Vs. Boyd Players Club

Which players club is better? The"D" or Boyd Gaming? Pros and Cons of each please if you got 'em.

I apologize if this has been discussed before.

 

Boyd works for me. Boyd covers 3 casinos downtown so you can bounce around and accumulate points faster. Main Street Station has a great buffet, great service and is my property of choice for staying downtown. Once you start getting comps for MSS, free nights or at least reduced rates may be available for the Gold Coast and Orleans. That's my view. Stayed at Fitzgerald's many times till we discovered MMS. The D may provide a more busy atmosphere that a lot find appealing.

Boyd has always been more than fair with me. Cant really say anything about the D.

some of us have been getting less generous offers from Boyd in the past year, and we don't know why.

so far the D has offered me B1G1 rates on rooms, with some limitation. just stayed on easter weekend, including a sat. night, at the D. saturday night's stay was a whopping $53, including tax. and sunday night was free, so two nights downtown, including a saturday (although not the busiest weekend of the year), was $53 total. on top of it they threw in a couple of $5 match plays, a $5 food discount and a $5 drink voucher. pretty good for a place i hadn't played at for 11 months. and the last time i was there i stayed four nights for about $60 using a B1G1 offer. last year the room hadn't been updated, this year it was. great value.

if you're purely a downtown person, i'd argue that there's good value to be had from the D, assuming you don't mind its casino. it's a bit loud at night, and wants to cater to the "party pit" crowd, at least in the lower level. upstairs is old school slot heaven, if that's of interest to you.

the D is doing it right, for the most part. the ownership of Plaza/LVC should be taking notes.

 

Boyd is pretty decent. But not as generous as the 4 Queens. I was researching the Plaza on vp free and it seems like the club is fairly generous and they have some decent vp. I have not played there much.

 

I have better deals with Boyd's than the old Fitz. However, I was in vegas in Feb and stopped in to see the "D" for the first time. I had them change my Fitz card to a D card and soon received a mailer for a BOGO room. I did not play at all when I stopped in. I think this BOGO is a mass mailing that everyone with a D or old Fitz card gets to try to lure people in.

We stayed at Sams town for two nights on the Feb trip. I played a few hours of craps and 6-8 hours of BJ ($5/hand). They have since been offering me two comp nights + 10 F&B (even good on weekends) ever since. For a low roller, Boyds is pretty good.

 

boyd finally offered me two comped nights at orleans during the upcoming months, albeit weeknights, which is all they have ever offered me. given i play a decent amount at boyd properties, including orleans, i'm satisfied. i never get weekend offers, but i rarely spend a saturday night in vegas, and i low roll. i guess the fact i didn't stay at a boyd property in early april finally convinced them to pony up a couple of free weeknights for the first time in a year.
